Universal’s Islands Of Adventure Wins The World Once Again

Universal’s Islands Of Adventure Wins The World Once Again

For the third year in a row, the fans have spoken: they love Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park.

TripAdvisior recently announced their  for Best Theme Park in the World and Islands of Adventure took the top spot for the third year in a row.

All the Universal theme parks teams work hard every day to give our guests the best experience possible when they visit. So it was incredibly rewarding for us to see Islands of Adventure grab the top spot—and to see two more Universal theme parks in the top 10.

It confirms what we know about Islands of Adventure: it’s a special place unlike anywhere else on earth.

Here you can explore a school of witchcraft and wizardry at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. Fly high above the city streets with Spider-Man in Marvel’s Super Hero Island. Hide from hungry dinosaurs and hope you’re not their next meal in Jurassic Park. And you can face the most colossal ape ever to walk the earth on Skull Island: Reign of Kong.

Universal’s Islands Of Adventure Wins The World Once Again

Universal Studios Florida always gets a lot of recognition as the “big brother” of the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks. And Universal’s Volcano Bay is getting all the attention right now, having just opened in May. So it’s nice to see Islands of Adventure recognized for the amazing place it is, yet again.

We’re delighted to hear that our fans have deeply loved their time spent with us. And we look forward to you coming back again to experience all that Universal Orlando Resort has to offer—three incredible theme parks, five on-site hotels, and more.

Toy Story Land Model & More Now on Display at Walt Disney Presents

Toy Story Land Model & More Now on Display at Walt Disney Presents

Walt Disney Presents, a re-imagined version of the One Man’s Dream attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, officially opens its doors to offer a new look at the past, present and future of Disney Parks.

One of the exciting pieces of the “future” that Walt Disney Presents showcases is a model of the park’s Toy Story Land expansion, which will be on display for guests to view.

Toy Story Land Model & More Now on Display at Walt Disney Presents

The Toy Story Land expansion, which will open in Summer 2018, will shrink guests to the size of a toy and allow them to explore all the fun of Andy’s backyard, which as you can see in these images, has been delightfully filled with familiar toys and sights from the “Toy Story” films.

You can also see some of the charming detail our Imagineers have created for this new land and its two major attractions – Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers.

Toy Story Land Model & More Now on Display at Walt Disney Presents

The Slinky Dog Dash attraction will be a family coaster themed as if Andy used his Mega Coaster Play Kit to build the ultimate coaster for Slinky. The land’s other major attraction, Alien Swirling Saucers, has been designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, in which Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture guests’ rocket toy vehicles with “The Claw.”

But the Toy Story Land model isn’t the only exciting draw to Walt Disney Presents. Tracing Disney history from Walt Disney’s beginning sketches, photos and storyboards, the attraction celebrates milestones in Disney film and theme park history up through today and beyond. Expect to see models, maquettes, sketches, artist renderings, a portion of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge model, concept art for the new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction and more.

Walt Disney Presents will also continue to host greetings with characters like Star-Lord and baby Groot, plus special sneak previews of upcoming Disney films. Check you My Disney Experience app for the latest.

Imagineers Ready Slinky Dog Dash Ride Vehicle For Testing

Imagineers Ready Slinky Dog Dash Ride Vehicle For Testing

Earlier this month, we shared the exciting news that the first ride vehicle for Slinky Dog Dash, one of two major attractions planned for Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, has arrived at the park.

The ride vehicle, which is themed after the character of Slinky from “Toy Story,” took Imagineers from multiple disciplines a few years to design, so the group was thrilled to see the finished product arrive on the site firsthand. According to the Imagineers, the vehicle was created to reflect Slinky’s personality, the movement and motion of a Slinky toy, and of course Slinky’s adorable look which will be visible throughout the land as the coaster moves along the track.

“This is a ride for the whole family: it’s fun, it’s exciting, it’s thrilling, but it’s not scary,” said Imagineer Bob Vignec. “It’s a rollercoaster, but it’s also this fun character that will be out in the land. You sort of get a little bit of goosebumps seeing it here for the first time.”

Toy Story Land is set to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in summer 2018. For more inside looks at this exciting expansion, be sure to check out the list of related stories below.

Disney Springs Is the Place to Start New Traditions This Holiday Season

Disney Springs Is the Place to Start New Traditions This Holiday Season

This holiday season at Disney Springs, you can create family memories, celebrate the season and find special gifts for all of the special people on my list – plus a treat or two for yourself! Make your holidays more magical, too, by enjoying everything Disney Springs will have to offer this holiday season…

While holiday shopping is certainly more magical here at Disney Springs, here’s some of our seasonal “must-dos”:

  • A Bigger, Better Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail: Last year Disney introduced custom decorated holiday trees to the Marketplace, each themed to a popular Disney story or character. This year, the Christmas Tree Trail will expand to twenty-five trees – many of them larger than last year’s evergreens – including ten new trees inspired by Disney classics such as Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Snow White and Dumbo.

Disney Springs Is the Place to Start New Traditions This Holiday Season

  • Santa’s Chalet: Santa Claus is accepting Christmas wish lists and welcoming guests to his chalet near the exit of Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail, making the Marketplace the most magical nook in all of Disney Springs. You’ll be visiting in your holiday best, smiling for Disney PhotoPass Photographers who will be on hand to capture photos, and probably taking a few selfies with your own camera, too! Santa Goofy will take over when Saint Nick heads back to the North Pole on December 25 – so we may have to visit twice.
  • Stitch’s Holiday Gift Hunt: The mischievous experiment 626 is at it again with an expanded scavenger hunt featuring four new stops, including a special stop at the more-magical-than-ever Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail. A great activity for families with kids older than mine, it’s your chance to work together, decipher clues, and discover all the spots where Stich is hiding. Complete the mission and receive a limited-edition button.
  • La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil: After nearly twenty years, “La Nouba” will take its final bow on December 31, 2017. I’ve seen the show a handful of times and can attest that there’s nothing else quite like the gravity-defying, jaw-dropping thrill of this stunning 90-minute show. There’s a good chance we’ll be getting a sitter so we can see it one last time before the curtain closes. Limited tickets available; visit www.cirquedusoleil.com/la-nouba for additional information and to purchase.

Complimentary and adjacent self-parking keeps things simple and hassle-free. With the retail delivery service available at all Disney Springs stores, I won’t have to add anything else my overloaded stroller, making it easier for guests to pop in to one of the award-winning restaurants to relax and refuel. Fan favorite eateries include Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza or D-Luxe Burger for a quick bite or any of our signature restaurants – featuring everything from steak and seafood to home-style favorites – for a more substantial sit-down meal.

What’s your first stop at Disney Springs this Holiday Season?

The Language of Aloha at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa: Kaiaulu

The Language of Aloha at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa: Kaiaulu

When things are heating up in the sun in Hawaiʻi, we all cherish the breezes and rain to help us keep cool. Did you know that we have hundreds of words in Hawaiian for wind and rain? That’s because each name changes depending on the location.

When you first walk into Makaʻala, the lobby area at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, you’ll enjoy the trade-wind breeze known as the Kaiaulu. This wind comes from the Waiʻanae mountain range and cools the land heading down towards the sea. It’s almost as if it comes to greet you as you walk through the door. It even brings the smell of our fresh flower lei in with you.

The Language of Aloha at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa: Kaiaulu

Perhaps in the morning, you will enjoy the light breeze called Moani down by the ocean. It is a soothing accompaniment to the many fitness classes we offer including Beach and Paddleboard Yoga. Needless to say, it goes very well with a quick dip in our inviting lagoon.

Or if you’re up for an adventure, go out and experience the misty rain called Tuahine when you participate in a tour of Manoa valley. This rain provides the magic that makes Manoa valley famous for rainbows. It’s not uncommon to see multiple rainbows at once!

The Language of Aloha at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa: Kaiaulu

We think Aulani Resort is re-defining that old phrase: go wherever the wind may take you. There are so many more stories awaiting you on your next visit!

A hui hou.

Note: In printed materials, Aulani Resort uses the contemporary spelling of Hawaiian words, which includes marks such as the kahako (macron). Because these marks do not often display correctly in electronic formats, we’ve omitted them to ensure clarity.

2017 Disney Food & Wine Cookbook Shares Recipes Coast to Coast

Generously seasoned, this flavorful, vegetarian version of a hearty African stew gets even more protein from quinoa and yogurt toppings. You can toast the naan for chips, but the pillowy flatbread is just as delicious simply served warm on the side for sopping up the stew.

The Disney wine experts recommend pairing this dish with a Pinotage; a medium-bodied red wine with red fruit aromas and a touch of smokiness. Bon appétit!

The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Ride Is Getting a Spoo-o-oky Makeover for Halloween

The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Ride Is Getting a Spoo-o-oky Makeover for Halloween

“Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission:BREAKOUT!” is bringing an entirely new ride experience to Disney California Adventure for just six weeks — and it’s only happening at nighttime.

The massively popular attraction will operate normally each day, but will transform into “Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark” on evenings from September 15 to October 31.

When the sun goes down, the lighting and ambiance of the Marvel superhero drop tower will change and the ride itself will be completely anew. Daytime guests will continue to enjoy the six random ride sequences set to a rotation of classic rock jams, but on Monsters After Dark, all riders will be treated to three never-before-seen show scenes created specifically for the Halloween season. Add to it a series of sudden drops synchronized to a brand new song by the film series’ composer, Tyler Bates, and you’ve got a thrill ride that will outdo any haunted house.

This seasonal adrenaline rush builds upon the Mission:BREAKOUT! storyline, which sees Rocket Raccoon breaking the other Guardians out of collector Taneleer Tivan’s fortress with the help of its passengers. In “Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark,” guests will see what happens next as they’re enlisted to distract the supernatural creatures inhibiting the gang’s jailbreak as Rocket saves Baby Groot from being left behind.

“Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark” is just one of many Halloween-inspired enhancements coming to Disneyland Resort this fall. In addition to decorations, themed merchandise and four additional rides re-themed for the holiday, Disneyland also offers a ticketed holiday party with a festive parade, fireworks, entertainment and trick-or-treating.
