‘Remember … Dreams Come True’ Returns To Disneyland Park Beginning Feb. 3

With the classic Main Street Electrical Parade coming home to Disneyland park on Jan. 20, spring 2017 is already shaping up to be a great blast to the past for Disneyland fans. Now there’s even more excitement in the air with the return of the beloved fireworks spectacular “Remember… Dreams Come True.”

sdkjf999

Initially presented as the evening highlight of the 50th anniversary of Disneyland Resort in 2005, “Remember… Dreams Come True” features Tinker Bell’s flight, brilliant fireworks, soaring music, dazzling special effects and an amazing journey through the various lands of Disneyland with archival audio tracks, favorite songs and familiar phrases from some of the park’s most popular attractions, past and present. I’m partial to seeing flame effects erupt from Sleeping Beauty Castle during the Indiana Jones Adventure sequence and the feeling of being in a virtual stretching room as fireworks launch straight into the sky to welcome the Haunted Mansion’s “Grim, Grinning Ghosts.”

What’s your favorite part of the show? Let us know in the comments section. Are you a fan of the quieter moments, like when “Shenandoah” plays, representing Rivers of America? Or do you get goosebumps when those five familiar, musical tones from Star Tours suddenly give way to the “Star Wars” theme, complete with lasers?

You’ll have a chance to relive all those moments and more, when “Remember… Dreams Come True” once again begins regular weekend performances on Feb. 3.

‘Tangled’ Returns to the Royal Theatre at Disneyland Park

If you’ve had a dream that the “Tangled” show would return to the Royal Theatre at Disneyland park, then this Friday will be your Best. Day. Ever.

tantantuy637812111-613x403

On the stage of the Royal Theatre in Fantasy Faire, the hair-raising tale of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider will once again come to life through the inimitable storytelling talents of resident Renaissance men, Messieurs Smythe and Jones. With the assistance of some fellow villagers and a little help from the audience, these lovers of legend and lore weave their version of “Tangled” with equal doses of music, whimsy, humor and heart.

Winner of an IAAPA Brass Ring Award in 2013, “The Royal Theatre Presents ‘Tangled’” will play in repertory with Smythe and Jones’s adaptation of “Frozen,” each performed several times daily starting January 15.

New Ways to Experience Disneyland Park Attractions Throughout 2016

If you have ever wondered how the Disneyland Railroad steam engines run, or what Jungle Cruise skippers do when they aren’t in their boats, they’ll soon have a chance to find out.

unnamed (1)

Beginning this month, Disneyland Park Guests will have unique, limited-time opportunities to experience some of their favorite attractions in new ways.

While the Disneyland Railroad is temporarily closed this year, Guests at the Main Street and New Orleans Square Train Stations will be able to get up-close with the historic steam engines that have circled Disneyland Park for decades, learn about these amazing machines firsthand from our own train engineers and even take a picture with an engine! Each engine will be accompanied by knowledgeable train engineers, who will share fun facts, details on how the engines operate, stories from the history of the Disneyland Railroad and more.

And, while the world-famous Jungle Cruise undergoes refurbishment early this year, the skippers will still share their stories, adventures and humor with Disneyland Park Guests in front of the attraction. They’ll recount tales from their travels while the Jungle Navigation Company headquarters readies for reopening later this year.

Look for these special opportunities and more – including new, limited-time experiences aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia – throughout the year at Disneyland Park.

Traveling With Kids to the Disneyland Resort

Your kids are only young for a few years and there is no better place to spend time as a family than at the original magical kingdom, Disneyland!

Disneyland Park

Here are some of the magical travel tips that can help you plan your next visit. It’s easy for the whole family to get involved thanks a free iPhone and iPad app that lets you explore exciting things to see and do at the resort.

Another great tool is m.disneyland.com — you can access it through your mobile device and bring it with you to the theme parks! It has attraction locations, park hours, show times and lots of helpful information.

Disneyland Resort has really grown in the past few years.  Now there are even more unforgettable adventures and timeless favorites to enjoy from day to night.

Mater's Junkyard Jamboree

For kids five to thirteen, there is Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree in Disney California Adventure Park. You’ll want to arrive early for this popular attraction in Cars Land.   There’s also Fantasy Faire, an enchanting storybook world in the Disneyland Park where little ones can meet Disney princesses. And, of course, there’s the classic must-do attraction Matterhorn Bobsleds.

After dark, the entire family can enjoy two nighttime spectaculars — Fantasmic! in Disneyland Park and World of Color in Disney California Adventure Park. World of Color is one of the experiences where you can use Disney FASTPASS Service on select attractions — it’s included with valid theme park admission and allows you to enjoy Disneyland Resort while your place in line is saved.

World of Color

Another great service is Disney’s PhotoPass Service — imagine getting everyone into the photo at the same time!

It’s comforting to know that Disneland also has First Aid facilities in easy-to-find locations at both theme parks. And there’s also a place to retrieve Lost and Found items just outside the main entrance to Disneyland Park.

We hope your next visit is as memorable and remember, your kids are only young once so make the most of your time together at the Disneyland Resort.

Special New Year’s Eve Celebrations at Disneyland Resort

From a New Year’s Cupcake at Jolly Holiday Bakery in Disneyland park to the Napa Rose New Year’s Eve Bash, the Disneyland Resort will ring in 2014 with something fun for everyone.

New Year's Eve at Disneyland Resort

Let’s start with the Napa Rose celebration. Actually, there are two: an early seating from 5:30 – 7 p.m. with a four-course dinner (think grilled hand-harvested sea scallops and 28-day-aged prime New York beef … Chef Andrew Sutton’s fabulous Wine Country Feast of seasonal classics) and festive decorations. Cost is $125 plus tax and gratuity. The perfect way to start the party early when you have plans later in the evening.

The late seating commences with bubbly at 8:15 p.m. and a dinner dance party with live music – they’re adding a dance floor in the lounge area with hundreds of silver, gold, red and black balloons to create a magical party. Plus hats and party favors, of course.

Napa Rose Restaurant Disneyland resort

Start with honeyed profiteroles with goat cheese and cranberry jam, followed by imported Osetra caviar parfait layered with Skuna Bay salmon tartare, cucumber pearls and crème fraîche. You’ll move on to three more courses before a 30-minute “intermission” for dancing, followed by two more courses (including dessert). It’s all perfectly timed to take you to midnight. Dancing goes ‘til 1 a.m.

The five-course tasting menu is $220 plus tax and gratuity (no children’s pricing), plus $65 for a flight of world-class wines for pairing. Chef Sutton also has a delicious vegetarian menu.

For reservations, call Kingdom Magic at 866-972-6244 or speak to your travel planner. Valet is complimentary.

NEW VIDEO: Imagineer Rolly Crump Looks Back on Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room on Its 50th Anniversary

Disney Legend Rolly Crump remembers the day Walt Disney asked him and fellow Imagineers to create a restaurant with a Tahitian décor. Rolly sculpted Tiki gods, while other Imagineers created birds that chatted. That was the birth of the new Audio-Animatronic technology. Their hard work and creativity was so over-the-top entertaining that instead of a restaurant, Walt made it an attraction – Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room! We were fortunate enough to visit Rolly at his home recently, where he took us on a trip down memory lane, back to 1963 — back to the drawing board with Walt Disney. Enjoy!

All the Birds Sing Words and the Flowers Croon…Coast-to-Coast at The Enchanted Tiki Room

This attraction at Disneyland park was the very first to feature Audio-Animatronics characters—over 150 of them! When Walt Disney World Resort opened its version, entitled “Tropical Serenade Featuring The Enchanted Tiki Room,” it also included the Sunshine Tree Terrace. Both were sponsored by the Florida Orange Growers, who teamed with the Walt Disney Studios for a national promotion. One of the benefits of this project was a Disneyland Storyteller record album with songs by the Oscar-winning Sherman Brothers. Both the advertising and the LP record featured the first Disney Character created especially for Walt Disney World Resort: Orange Bird.

Throngs of admirers turned out when our fine-fruited friend made his triumphant return appearance to the Sunshine Tree Terrace last year, a short time after The Enchanted Tiki Room also returned in a revised version of its original glory.

The songs in the present Magic Kingdom Park edition include the classic, ultra-catchy “Tiki-Tiki-Tiki-Tiki-Tiki Room,” also by the Shermans. Another is a pop hit from 1932 known as “Let’s All Sing Like the Birdies Sing.” The grand finale is “Hawaiian War Chant,” written in the 1860’s by Prince Leleiohoku and became a hit on records and movies when it was revised and reintroduced in 1936. Probably its most famous version is also the silliest one, by Spike Jones and His Slickers.

If some of the voices in The Enchanted Tiki Room sound familiar, they are. Thurl Ravenscroft plays Fritz, voice of one of the singing busts in the Haunted Mansion (look for the organ with his name in the interactive queue). He voiced, among hundreds of things, Tony the Tiger and sang “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”

Disney historian Jim Korkis recently told me that legendary Hollywood “ghost singer” Bill Lee is also in the Tiki Room cast. Bill sang off-screen for countless movie stars, from Christopher Plummer in 1965’s “The Sound of Music” to Yogi in 1964’s “Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear.”

Another Tiki Room alumnus who sang in the Yogi feature is Ernie Newton, who voices Pierre in the attraction. And playing José and Michael are two Disney Legends from the beloved Disneyland park stage musical, Golden Horseshoe Revue: Wally Boag (the master comedian who mentored Steve Martin) and Fulton Burley, the celebrated Irish tenor.

I always get a kick out of the exit song, a parody of “Heigh-Ho” that basically tells us to go away in an entertaining way! My favorite line is “Don’t stop to look / Go read a book!”
