UOR_KingsCrossStation

Universal Creating First-Ever Experience That
Will Allow Guests to Actually Ride the Iconic Train

One of the most memorable and exciting experiences from the Harry Potter series will come to life at Universal Orlando Resort this summer. Imagine:

  • Being transported from the Muggle world to the wizarding world as you pass through the brick wall at King’s Cross Station to arrive at Platform 9 ¾
  • Watching in amazement as the Hogwarts Express pulls into the station – its billowing steam and authentic whistle beckoning you to hop aboard
  • Sitting in one of the train’s cabins with your family and friends and actually riding the Hogwarts Express – just as your favorite characters did in the Harry Potter films
  • Looking outside your cabin window and enjoying a scenic, breathtaking journey through the British countryside as you encounter magical creatures, some of your favorite Harry Potter characters…and even Dementors…

Since the very first Harry Potter film, every fan has dreamed of taking the same classic journey Harry Potter did aboard the Hogwarts Express. And this summer – they will get to live it.

Universal Orlando revealed never-before-released details about the Hogwarts Express experience that will debut as part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley – the all-new, magnificently themed land opening this summer. The train will connect the new land in Universal Studios Florida with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure – allowing guests with park-to-park admission to enjoy a real journey aboard the iconic locomotive.

Never before has this been done – creating an actual train ride experience to connect two spectacularly themed environments. The Hogwarts Express experience combines powerful storytelling, live special effects, lifelike animation and state-of-the-art technology to take riders on the journey of a lifetime. Guests will enjoy two completely different experiences depending on whether they’re traveling to Hogsmeade or London.

Once seated in the cabin, guests will be able to look out their windows as an incredibly authentic and magical adventure unfolds before them. They’ll see Hagrid come alongside the train on his flying motorbike, Buckbeak the Hippogriff swoop gracefully over the black lake, the Weasley twins on brooms and up to their usual antics, the Knight Bus swerving through London traffic – and other special moments and surprises.

Universal’s Creative team has been working closely with Warner Bros., Stuart Craig and the production team from the Harry Potter films to create a sensational Hogwarts Express experience that the entire family can enjoy. The Creative team has gone to great lengths to ensure the experience is true to the books and films. Everything about the train is authentic – from the paint and the materials used to build it….all the way down to the whistle.

Park-to-park admission is required to experience the Hogwarts Express journey from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley (located in Universal Studios Florida) to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade (located in Universal’s Islands of Adventure).

Yes, these games are definitely a very minor addition, especially since many more important projects are taking place at the Universal Orlando Resort now. That said, remember that – according to a few reliable rumors – they may be part of phase one of a much more important Jurassic Park expansion, which could include up to two new attractions. Families will have two options for experiencing the hotel – a value-priced standard guest room or a moderately priced, 430-square-foot family suite that sleeps six.  From the moment they arrive, they will be surrounded by the hotel’s bold design, period colors, neon and retro feel.  When complete, there will be two pool complexes with sand beach and interactive features, a themed lazy river experience and 10-lane bowling alley.  Family suite rates will begin at $174 per-night; standard room rates will begin at $119 per-night.  Package rates are available with savings based on length-of-stay; a family of four can stay for seven nights for $47 per person, per-day – including accommodations and tickets to both Universal Orlando theme parks.

“We believe Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort will offer an experience unlike any other in Central Florida,” said Alice Norsworthy, executive vice president of marketing and sales at Universal Orlando Resort.  “And at the same time, it will create an entirely new, value-driven option for families that want to stay within the Universal Orlando Resort.”

Each of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort’s Courtyards will have a unique design and atmosphere.  They will share a highly themed, two-story arrival building that will also be home to a food court serving traditional American classics along with an ever-changing selection of international cuisine, a 10-lane “retro” bowling alley, a game room and a fitness center.

Building on the global phenomenon that is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Orlando Resort and Warner Bros. Entertainment today announced an expansion of historic proportion with the entirely new themed environment, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

Scheduled to open in 2014, the world‟s first centrally themed, multi-park experience expands The Wizarding World of Harry Potter across both Universal Orlando theme parks and allows Universal‟s creative team to bring an unparalleled vision to this unique project. The new area will bring to life some of the experiences and places found in and around London in the Harry Potter books and films, offering brand-new adventures for fans and theme park guests from around the world.

Diagon Alley and “London‟ will be located within the Universal Studios Florida theme park, which is adjacent to Universal‟s Islands of Adventure theme park, where guests now experience Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. The new area within Universal Studios will be just as expansive, immersible and authentic as the existing themed environment.  And – just like in the books and films – guests will be able to travel between “London‟ and Hogsmeade aboard the Hogwarts Express.

Work on the new area is already underway. When complete, it will feature shops, a restaurant and an innovative, marquee attraction based on Gringotts bank – all directly inspired by the fiction and films.

More details on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley will be released over time

The Wacky Suess Landing in Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure

Suess Landing is one of the wackiest themed areas of any theme park around. You feel like you’re instantly transported into one of Dr. Suess’ books the moment you arrive in this section of Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure. And it gets even better with each ride this land has to offer.

The Cat in the Hat

Go for a spin with The Cat in the Hat as you ride your couch through the pages of Dr. Seuss’s, best-loved children’s book. This delightful ride takes the story of The Cat in the Hat and re-creates it scene for scene. You’ll spin and you’ll swerve this way and that as that red and white hatted cat and his friends Thing One and Thing Two almost bring down the house. With a bump and a thump and an assortment of crashes the mischievous trio make quite a mess of things. You’d better hope they get the house cleaned up before Mother comes home!

One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

Dr. Seuss’ delightful children’s book comes to life in this ride that kids (and parents) will love. Climb aboard One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish™ and take the controls as you steer your colorful fish up, up, up and down, down, down. As you fly low and fly high, spinning and swooping around and around you’ll pass an array of fountains that squirt in time to a musical rhyme. Pay attention to the words and do what they say if you don’t want to get wet!

The High in the Sky Suess Trolley Train

All aboard! Get a whole new perspective of Seuss Landing on The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride! On this twin-tracked ride you’ll take a gentle journey high above the colorful rides and attractions of Seuss Landing. One track of the trolley even circles around the inside of Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous letting you wave at the guests dining below. As you wait to board the trolley you’ll follow the wonderful story of the Sneetches featuring Sylvester McMonkey McBean. One track continues the story of the Sneetches, while the other track gives you the ABC’s of Seuss Landing as you pass overhead. It’s great fun for the whole family. Fun fact: The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride is composed of more than 200 colors!

Caro-Suess-El

You’ll find an array of unusual creatures from the imagination of Dr. Seuss on this one-of-a-kind carousel. You can even animate your characters! For the first time ever in a carousel you can pull back on the reins or push the lever on the neck and your mount’s eyes will blink, ears will wiggle, or head will turn. Plus, look high above and you’ll see Horton the Elephant at the very top of the Caro-Seuss-el, carefully guarding his dandelion. Some of the characters you can ride include elephant birds from Horton Hatches the Egg; twin camels from One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; cowfish from McElligot’s Pool; Mulligatawnies from If I Ran the Zoo; aqua mop tops, dog-a-lopes and more.
