Best Treat at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

This past week I attended Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World! This Halloween Party is a separately ticketed event that takes place on select nights throughout the fall season in Magic Kingdom. This event is family friendly and focuses more on the fun side of Halloween! It is the perfect balance of spooky thrills mixed with cute decorations and fun costumes! There is something for everyone!

An iconic part of Halloween for many of us is candy and all things involving sweets and treats! At Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party you will have the opportunity to actually trick or treat in the Magic Kingdom! Guests of all ages can feel like a kid again as they visit special treat locations throughout the park and receive candy and other yummy snack items.

In addition to stocking up on candy and treats from the complimentary treat locations around the park, you can also purchase specialty treats. These specialty treats are exclusively available just during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I tried a few of these specialty desserts and there was one particular one that stood out to me as my favorite!

My favorite dessert of this year’s 2019 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was the Haunted Mansion inspired wedding cake! This cake was meant to look like a small personal size version of the bride from the Haunted Mansion Constance’s wedding cake! The dessert is named “Constance’s for Better or For Worse Wedding Cake” This treat is a Halloween Party Exclusive! It can be purchased at the Liberty Square Popcorn Cart.

This dessert is a citrus-scented cake with raspberry Bavarian cream, white chocolate glaze, icing pearls, flowers, and is topped with a chocolate axe. This cake had a moose consistency and was very light and decadent.

Every aspect of this treat made me a fan! From the fun theming inspired by my favorite Magic Kingdom attraction – to the fact that it was the most delicious and unique tasting treat I enjoyed on my vacation! Be sure to say “I do” to this cake when you visit Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year! Contact your Kingdom Magic Vacations Travel Planner today to plan your next adventure.

Attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2019!

Last month while visiting Walt Disney World, I attended my first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for the 2019 season! Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a wonderful, festive event that is sure to put you in the Halloween spirit!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is an extra-ticketed event that takes place on select nights at the Magic Kingdom Park. The event features special Halloween stage shows, dance parties, rare character meet and greets, a special Halloween Parade, exclusive Halloween fireworks show, trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom, specialty treats and merchandise for purchase, and more!

My group and I had a wonderful time attending the party this year! Here’s my list of highlights from my own experience at the event!

Group Costume

At Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party guests can choose to come dressed in Halloween costumes if they want to! I had never dressed up myself when attending the party in the past but had always wanted to. The costumes are one of my favorite parts of the party. I love walking around the park and spotting other guests costumes! Everyone gets so into it and has such a great time. It is a wonderful environment to be apart of! This year I was so thrilled to get in on the fun of wearing a costume for myself! My group and I all dressed up as Star Wars characters. It truly did add another layer of fun to the evening! We met so many great people who stopped us to comment on our costumes and even take our picture!

New Fireworks

This year Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party saw the premiere of a brand new Halloween fireworks show! I was always a fan of the previous Halloween Party fireworks but this new show definitely topped it! The special effects used in the show were outstanding! My favorite part was the projections on the castle! There was one particular part that I loved where through projection mapping they made the castle look like a haunted mansion! It was incredible!

Live Actors in Pirates of the Caribbean

One of the many offerings during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party is attraction overlays. This is when Disney adds a bit of extra magic into a Disney ride. One of these attraction overlays takes place at Pirates of the Caribbean! When you ride this attraction during the Halloween Party you will spot real pirates on the actual ride! This overlay first premiered at last year’s Halloween Party and I am so happy that it has come back again. This year you will find even more live pirates throughout the ride!

Deep Space Mountain

Space Mountain is a Walt Disney World classic coaster! So many fans like myself know and love this ride! During Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Space Mountain becomes Deep Space Mountain! Another exciting attraction overlay! In Deep Space Mountain you can experience riding Space Mountain completely in the pitch black! This coaster is already dark but during the party there are absolutely no lights not even in the tunnels! It makes the experience even more thrilling!

Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade

Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade is an exclusive Halloween Parade that takes place during Halloween Party nights! This parade received several new updates this year. There is now a show segment that represents each land in the Magic Kingdom! I love this concept! My personal favorite addition to this parade is during the Haunted Mansion segment! The bride from the haunted Mansion has been added and she actually glides down the parade route! It is something you truly have to see in person!

There are a limited number of party tickets sold for each night of the event making the party feel more like a vip event for all those guests in attendance! Because of the limited number of tickets guests who attend will enjoy the park with significantly lower crowds than compared to a normal day in the Magic Kingdom. This means you can do and see more during your time in the park! Lower crowds means lower wait times on some of the most popular attractions! This fact alone makes these extra ticketed events such an incredible value for the experience you get to have!

I attended my very first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party last year and I caught the Halloween Party bug! I had such a wonderful experience! I love all the spooky fun extras that you find throughout the Magic Kingdom! It is such a festive and fun environment to be apart of!

This year I’m not just attending one Halloween Party! I’m attending two! The first during this month of August with a group of friends and the second in October with some of my Kingdom Magic Vacations co-workers! Both times we are planning to do group costumes! That is another very fun aspect of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, many guests dress up! Last year I loved seeing other guests costumes and how creative everyone gets! This year I’m excited to get to dress up myself! When I go with my friends this month we are all going as Star Wars characters! I am going to be Rey! Then in October with my Kingdom Magic Fam we are all going to be character from Disney Pixar’s Inside Out! I am going to be Riley!

12 Must-Dos During the Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort

There’s so much to see and experience across Walt Disney World Resort during the holiday season! Here are 12 must-dos for guests:

1. See the all-new Toy Story Land Holiday Decor
This new immersive land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be decked out with festive spirit during the holidays. New decor will include an oversized cranberry-and-popcorn garland and a 10-foot-tall Hamm sugar cookie at Woody’s Lunch Box, as well as green alien ornaments near the entrance to Alien Swirling Saucers, just to name a few. Plus, guests will hear sleigh bells ringing on Slinky Dog Dash, while Alien Swirling Saucers will offer two holiday tracks with themed lighting. The characters will also show off new holiday looks for the season – Woody and Jessie will wear special holiday vests and sprigs of holly on their hats, while Buzz Lightyear will don a snazzy Santa hat.

2. Catch showings of Sunset Seasons Greetings and “Jingle Ball, Jingle BAM!”
Guests should definitely make plans to see both of the nighttime shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that are special to the season. “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” follows the animated elves from “Disney Prep & Landing” as they search for Santa Claus, who has gone missing. Iconic music, fireworks, special effects and state-of-the-art projections help bring this spectacular to life. And over on Sunset Boulevard, new laser effects add even more sparkle to Sunset Seasons Greetings, the towering holiday projection show on the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Throughout the night, the show features Mickey Mouse, Olaf and other beloved Disney characters sharing their favorite seasonal stories.

3. Enjoy Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Get into the festive spirit at this specially ticketed, after-hours party at Magic Kingdom Park. Indulge in complimentary sweet holiday treats, enjoy specialty entertainment such as the awe-inspiring Holiday Wishes fireworks spectacular and Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, and celebrate the spirit of the season with unforgettable experiences, including snow flurries on Main Street, U.S.A.

4. Don’t miss A Frozen Holiday Wish
Guests can get swept up in the holiday spirit when Queen Elsa transforms Cinderella Castle into the gorgeous, glistening, icy holiday centerpiece of Magic Kingdom. Featuring appearances by Anna and Elsa, along with rugged mountain man Kristoff and the lovable snowman Olaf, this merry-and-bright seasonal show culminates in Queen Elsa using her incredible powers to present a gift to everyone in the kingdom.

5. Savor new items from Epcot Holiday Kitchens
Holiday Kitchens offer delectable bites inspired by holiday traditions around the world. Every holiday season brings new tastes and treats. New this year is the L’Chaim! Kitchen featuring traditional Hebrew dishes such as pastrami on rye, chicken and matzo ball soup, egg cream and more. Feast of the Three Kings Kitchen will feature a new menu, including sofrito-marinated beef with sweet plantains and olives, as well as queso fresco-stuffed arepas topped with shrimp. Other new samplings include black forest roulade with cherry whipped cream at the Bavaria Holiday Kitchen in the Germany pavilion and hand-carved smoked ham with green beans and sweet potato casserole at the American Holiday Table in The American Adventure.

6. Be moved by a performance of the Candlelight Processional at Epcot
Delight in the story of Christmas as told by a celebrity narrator accompanied by a full choir and a 50-piece orchestra during a performance that inspires joy and holiday spirit. New narrators this year include Alfonso Ribeiro (Nov. 26-27) and “Moana” voice actress Auli’i Cravalho (Dec. 21-23). A great way to experience the show is with a Candlelight Processional Dining Package; guests can learn more and make reservations for the package at disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/epcot/candlelight-dinner-packages/.

7. Take in IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and other international holiday entertainment
The nighttime spectacular IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth includes a special holiday finale from Nov. 18 to Dec. 30. This will be the final holiday season for this show that takes place on and around World Showcase Lagoon. The show will conclude a 20-year run at the end of summer 2019, before new thrills debut on the lagoon immediately afterward. World Showcase is also the place to discover the sights, sounds and tastes that are part of holiday celebrations from around the world.

8. Shop till you drop at Disney Springs
There is a gift idea for everyone at Disney Springs, the shopping, dining and entertainment district at Walt Disney World. Disney fans will love the Disney-themed exclusive items at stores such as the newly reimagined World of Disney and DisneyStyle, while trendsetters will appreciate the apparel and accessories at stores such as Coach, Anthropologie, Pandora, Sephora and others. And kids will love gifts from stores like Once Upon a Toy and The LEGO Store.

9. Stroll the Christmas Tree Trail
Also at Disney Springs, guests will enjoy a walk-through wonderland filled with Christmas trees decorated with Disney imagery and characters. This year’s trail features 27 unique holiday trees with new additions inspired by Toy Story, The Haunted Mansion and Star Wars. Guests can even meet Santa at his chalet inside the trail.

10. Discover Diwali during UP! A Great Bird Adventure
This all-new show takes guests on a journey to discover some of the world’s exotic birds along with fun-loving Russell and his furry friend Dug from Disney•Pixar’s hit film “Up.” During the holiday season, a special version of the show will introduce guests to discover the story of Diwali, the holiday festival of lights in India.

11. Find gingerbread houses, Christmas trees and additional offerings at Disney resort hotels
The holiday fun continues when guests leave the parks. All Walt Disney World resort hotels are elaborately decorated, and many offer special entertainment and dining during the season. Guests can marvel at intricate, life-size gingerbread houses at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and be awed by the massive Christmas trees in the lobbies of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

12. Capture picture-perfect memories with Disney PhotoPass
The holiday season is the perfect time to pose for photos around Walt Disney World. Disney PhotoPass locations will be available in front of the iconic trees in all four theme parks and at festively decorated areas – the perfect shot for a greeting card or to help guests remember an incredible trip.

5 Simple Tips To Enjoy Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

If you are anything like us, you love Fall and Halloween at the Magic Kingdom and especially Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!  These parties are extra special events where they close the Magic Kingdom to regular park guests and bring in some extra special Halloween decorations and treats that you can only experience at the Party!

Here are 5 tips to help you enjoy these parties and get the most treats with no tricks!

1.  This is a Family Friendly Event  – Like the name implies, this is a Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.  Unlike other Orlando Theme Parks, Walt Disney World offers a purely family-friendly environment that is suitable for children of all ages.  There are some dark areas, but if your kids loves the Haunted Mansion, that is about as dark as the entire evening gets!

2.  Wear A Costume – Children are always allowed to wear Princess Outfits or Pirate Costumes in Disney Parks, but adults do not have that luxury…except for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties!  As long as you wear a costume that does not cover your face (ie. a full head or face mask) you are welcome to enjoy the party.  Remember, it’s still pretty warm in Orlando during the Fall, so make sure that your costume is lightweight an not too heavy!

5 Simple Tips To Enjoy Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

3.  Trick Or Treat All Night Long – During the party, there are several locations located all around the Magic Kingdom…and you can trick-or-treat as much as you want.  You can return as much as you want and as the night progresses, many Cast Members often become more generous in their treat giving.  We suggest bringing your own bag though…the bags that Disney provides are a little small.

4.  Arrive A Little Early – Even though Mickey’s Party officially starts at 7 p.m., which is when all of the entertainment actually begins, guests can enter with their Halloween Party tickets as early as 4 p.m. This is not something Walt Disney World advertises, but it absolutely is true, and you will see plenty of other guests arriving at 4 p.m., and Cast Members in their Halloween outfits at the turnstiles.  This allows you to enjoy a full 8 hours inside the park, for 1/2 the price!

5.  Make Time to Meet Characters – Haloweentime is one of the best times to meet your favorite Disney Characters, and during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary parties, all your favorite characters are dressed in special Trick-or-treat costumes!  Past favorites are Winnie the Pooh and friends, Snow White, and all 7 dwarfs – they are all not to be missed!!

5 Simple Tips To Enjoy Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Mickey’s No-So-Scary Halloween Parties are Hard Ticketed events, which means you have to buy a separate ticked for entrance to the party.  The parties run on select nights in September and October from 7:00 pm to Midnight.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Hitchhiking Ghost Card Debuts at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

When Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returns to Magic Kingdom Park next week, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom fans are in for an additional treat – the chance to pick up an event-exclusive game card!

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Hitchhiking Ghost Card Debuts at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Just in case you’re new to the game, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is an in-park interactive experience that allows guests join Merlin’s quest to defeat Disney Villains who are scheming to take over Magic Kingdom Park. Guests use maps to search for villain hideouts throughout the park, visit magic portals and use spell cards to foil a villain’s plan. The quest begins in the Firehouse on Main Street, U.S.A., where you can pick up key cards, spell cards and maps (additional cards can be purchased at select merchandise locations).

This special card features the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion attraction and lets us “sorcerers” tap into the supernatural power that lies within the Haunted Mansion’s graveyard. Players can use the card to direct poltergeists to scare away any Disney villains they may come across on their journey.

This special event card will be distributed separately from the regular Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card packs (yes, you can pick up both while attending the party). The Hitchhiking Ghost card is available at both the Magic Kingdom Firehouse and the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom location behind Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe during the party, and guests must register to play with their party ticket and event wristband in order to get one.
