New Unique Character Experience Coming to Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom Park will soon debut a new character experience to guests! This new character interaction will be unlike anything you ever seen in a Disney Park! Beginning April 22nd, a towering mechanical suit will stop guests in their tracks in Pandora — The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park! Disney has shared that the new Pandora Utility Suit is inspired by the iconic Amplified Mobility Platform (AMP) suits of power armor from the film, Avatar.

This towering suit will stand ten feet high and feature a human pilot strapped into the cockpit of this exo-carrier. The pilot will control the suits powerful, yet agile movements. This giant walking suit was designed with articulated hands and a shoulder span of more than five feet. The pilot will be able to talk and interact with guests. They will share with guests, stories of the planet of Pandora and the history and culture of the lands people!

Disney always gives incredible attention to detail! Visitors will notice the suit bears claw marks and battle scars from a Thanator — an alpha predator on Pandora. The Pandora Utility Suit was actually reportedly designed for restoration, while the film’s AMP suits were created for infantry missions of destruction. These are all the backstories that we are sure the suit’s pilot will go into sharing with guests!  The suits streamlined structure and technical upgrades make it the perfect tool to collect plant samples, study flora, and survive Pandora’s wild terrain.

Disney has shared that as the suit travels the land daily, the pilot will interact with guests, share details about the land’s landscape, and highlight the importance of preserving nature.  This new character experience will debut April 22 as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort!

Things to do at Walt Disney World Without a Park Ticket – Part One

Celebrating the Fourth of July Across Walt Disney World Resort

Have you ever wanted to have a fun-filled Disney World day without having to use up a park ticket? Maybe you just arrived to Disney for your vacation but don’t want to waste a park ticket on a half-day in the park, or if it’s your last day and you have a few hours before heading to the airport. Or maybe you want to take a rest day in the middle of your vacation while still enjoying the many things Disney World has to offer. Well today we are going to talk about just that. I am going to tell you my top picks for things to do at Walt Disney World that do not require any form of theme park admission.

Disney Springs

Disney Springs is Walt Disney World’s shopping, dining and entertainment district. If it has been a few years since your last visit to Disney then you may remember this place as Downtown Disney. Recently the area has been updated, expanded and reimagined to Disney Springs! Disney Springs will make you feel like you have stepped into a quaint and beautiful Florida Springs town that is rich in history. Disney Springs is free to visit and requires no admission ticket and has parking fee. With the recent expansion and dozens of new restaurants and stores there is something for everyone! You can easily make Disney Springs an all-day experience! Do your souvenir shopping at the World of Disney, the largest Disney store in the world! Catch a movie at the AMC Theater, enjoy a game of bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes, you can even live inside the Star Wars Universe through a virtual reality experience at Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire by ILMxLAB and The VOID. Like I said there really is something for everyone! Throughout Disney Springs you will find a wide selection of stores. A few of my personal favorite shops include, Uniqlo, Lilly Pulitzer, Vera Bradley, Disney’s Days of Christmas, Basin and the Marketplace Co-Op. In between all the wonderful shopping you will want to refuel with an amazing meal, and Disney Springs has you covered with over 56 different dining options!  My personal picks for Disney Springs restaurants would be, Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, Pizza Ponte, D-Luxe Burger, Paradiso 37 and for dessert… Sprinkles Cupcakes!

Resort Hopping

All of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels are designed by the same team of Imagineers that design the parks and attractions making each resort unique and truly like its own type of theme park! Every Disney Resort offers something special! We encourage you to spend a day or part of a day exploring your Disney Resort and taking in everything it has to offer. You can even take a day to do some “Resort hopping” as Disney fans have named it! Go visit and explore some other Disney Resorts. Walking the resort grounds, visiting the shops, dining in the restaurants can be a very relaxing and refreshing day. Like I said each Disney Resort is full of details every time I visit a resort I always notice something new. The Disney Resort Hotels truly are an extension of the parks. One of my favorite Resorts to visit is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, this resort sits on an African Savanna, watching the animals roam the grounds is so peaceful and very entertaining. While at Animal Kingdom Lodge I love to make a reservation at Sanaa. If you go you have to try their bread service of traditional naan bread! It is incredible! The Epcot Resort area is another great place to explore. Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are all within walking distance of each other and all offer a seaside feel. Be sure to grab an ice cream from Beaches and Cream and enjoy the street performers you can often find along the boardwalk!

Monorail Loop

Staying on the topic of Resort Hopping, you could take a ride around the Walt Disney World Monorail and visit the 3 Disney Resorts connected in the monorail loop! This is an awesome way to easily visit the 3 most popular Disney resorts all while being immersed in the heart of Walt Disney World. The 3 resort on the monorail loop are Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa!

Mini Golf

Disney World is home to 4 different mini golf courses. Located just outside Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park you will find Winter Summerland mini golf. Winter Summerland has 2 courses to choose from, the Winter course or the Summer course. Both courses feature a fun Christmas theme! The winter course is themed to a traditional white Christmas and the Summer course celebrates Christmas in Paradise! Whichever course you pick you will definitely be in the holiday spirit no matter what time of year it is! For our next two courses, we head over to the Epcot Resort area, right out front of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort sits the Fantasia Gardens mini golf course and the Fairways mini golf course. Both of these courses are themed to the Disney film Fantasia!

Stay tuned for more of my picks for things to do in Disney but without needing a theme park ticket.

Once the new Lounge opens, those famous Lobster Nachos will be accompanied by many more California gastro-pub menu items, as well as a wide selection of signature cocktails unique to the lounge. The Lamplight Lounge will of course feature those beautiful waterfront views from both upstairs and downstairs. As well as outdoor seating that will offer awesome views of the new Pixar Pier. The location is also the perfect spot to view the World of Color spectacular!

We know that the Lamplight Lounge will be themed as if it has been renovated from an old warehouse factory. We also know that the location will retain many of its original features from Cove Bar. Theming elements to Lamplight Lounge will include steel structures and exposed concrete and brick walls, with the original factory floor boards refinished as ceiling panels and floors.

The space will reflect the creativity, inspirations and personalities of the artists and storytellers who have brought the Pixar movies we love to life. Throughout the Lounge be sure to look for artistic marks left by the Pixar artists, such as concept art, sketched-upon napkins, collectable toys of Pixar characters, and more!

Lamplight Lounge will open on June 23rd along with the rest of Pixar Pier! The location of this bar has always been a great hidden gem and we are very excited to see what the reimagined theming will be like and can’t wait to see all of the tie-ins to Pixar!

New Dining Locations Coming to Pixar Pier at Disney’s California Adventure!

Pixar Pier is opening at Disney’s California Adventure on June 23rd! Disney has now shared many of the new dining locations that will be located in this new land! Let’s take a look at some of these wonderful Pixar themed dining and snack locations!

Incredicoaster Snack Location

A new snack location will be added right by the new Incredicoaster! The Incredicoaster is taking the place of what once was California Screamin’ and will give a new backstory to the rollercoaster based off of Disney Pixar’s The Incredibles movie! The new snack spot coming in front of the Incredicoaster will take the location of the former California Screamin’ photo kiosk. Not many details have been released from Disney yet on this location. But Disney has teased that there will be a very ‘unique’ snack offering here and that it is something that Jack-Jack from The Incredibles is a fan of! We can’t wait to find out more!

If you ever visited Paradise Pier then you may remember those wonderful Boardwalk-themed food kiosks that dotted along the Pier. Well we now know that those snack locations will still be there. Upon Pixar Pier’s opening the kiosks will be re-opening as Pixar-themed food stands! These food stands will include: Poultry Palace, Senor Buzz Churros and Angry Dogs.

Poultry Palace

What was the Turkey Leg kiosk on Paradise Pier will now be the Poultry Palace on Pixar Pier.  Poultry Palace is in reference to the Toy Story Toon: Small Fry. Poultry Palace was a fast food restaurant in the Toy Story Toon! The main menu item here will be staying the same as before, those famous Disney Parks Turley Legs!

Senor Buzz Churros

The churro stand will now be themed to Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story! Here guests will be able to enjoy a delicious Disney staple, a churro!

Angry Dogs

This food stand will be themed to the Pixar film Inside Out. Angry Dog will appropriately serve hot dogs!

Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats

What was the Paradise Pier Ice Cream Co. will re-open as the Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats! The snack location will serve icy, sweet treats just as before but this time there will be a signature soft-serve item on the menu!  Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats will serve what is being referred to as a Lemon Dole Whip! It is highly rumored that this location will open earlier than the rest of Pixar Pier! As someone who loves Dole Whip, I can’t wait to experience this exciting twist on the famous Disney treat!

Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff Confectionery

Every good Pier needs to have a candy shop! And Pixar Pier will be receiving a sweets shop with the opening of Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff Confectionery! The shop will serve candy, slushies, and other traditional Disney candy shop staples along with some exclusive Pixar themed offerings!

June 23rd is right around the corner! We are so excited for the opening of Pixar Pier and for trying all these delicious new snacks and treats!

Pinocchio Village Haus introducing a Table-Service Buffet Dinner! – Magic Kingdom

Disney has announced that Pinocchio Village Haus, the quick-service dining location in Magic Kingdom will soon be becoming a buffet for dinner! The restaurant will still remain a quick-service location during the day, then for dinner shift over to a buffet, sit-down restaurant experience. This format is similar to how Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland operates. Be Our Guest is a counter-service dining experience during the day and a table-service location at night.

The new dining experience coming to Pinocchio Village Haus is to be called “Gepetto’s Village Haus Buffet.” The buffet meal will be priced at $22 per adult (guests 10 and up) and $12 per child. We know that we can expect Italian staples such as multiple salads, baked ziti, meatballs, pasta Alfredo, chicken parmesan, flatbreads, breadsticks, cannolis, and Italian pastries. An opening date is still yet to be announced.

This announcement personally has me very excited! Pinocchio Village Haus for a long time has held the spot of being my favorite quick-service spot in Magic Kingdom. I love their selection of menu offering, especially their artisan flatbreads. Aside from the menu I have always been a fan of Pinocchio Village Haus for its unique atmosphere. You are right in the heart of Fantasyland. If you can grab a table inside by the windows you actually get to overlook the It’s a Small World attraction as you dine!

For a very unique spot to sit, I like to head to the restaurant’s second floor. This is one of my best tips, to dine upstairs at Pinocchio’s, the staircase that leads to the additional seating area is kind of tucked away and there is not too much signage that advertises for the additional seating. Because of this I have found this upstairs area is always very quiet. My family and I have dined here in the past and been the only people upstairs even on the busiest day! Upstairs you will also find a doorway for seating on the upstairs balcony. This deck is also just as private typically since not many people know it is there. It is a great hidden gem that offers a breathtaking birds-eye view of Fantasyland! You can always ask a cast member if you need help finding this tucked away staircase!

I am really looking forward to enjoying a new type of dining experience at this great location! Contact our team today to plan your next vacation to Disney World or wherever your travels take you! We are excited to help you create memorable travel moments!
