In early summer 2017, a first-of-its-kind water theme park will erupt at Universal Orlando Resort – Universal’s Volcano Bay. It will be an innovative experience filled with incredible thrills and perfected relaxation. And on November 15, you will have the chance to purchase tickets to experience it firsthand.
Volcano Bay will span 30 fully immersive acres and feature a variety of experiences that range from daring to serene. Dozens of unique attractions will offer something for everyone, including a multi-directional wave pool with sandy beaches, a peaceful winding river, twisting multi-rider raft rides, speeding body slides that drop from the top of the volcano into the waters below – and more. And the best part – you won’t have to wait in long lines to enjoy any of it.
Krakatau Aqua Coaster is a state-of-the-art coaster that will take you on an exciting voyage unlike any other, and the all-new TapuTapu wearable technology that will redefine the way guests experience water parks.
Krakatau Aqua Coaster will be the star experience at Universal’s Volcano Bay – combining innovative ride technology with water theme park thrills to take families on an unforgettable adventure through the park’s massive icon – the 200-foot Krakatau volcano.
Guests will board specially-designed canoes and propel downwards – and upwards – through the volcano’s interior peaks and valleys. You’ll twist, turn and plummet along dark passageways, be launched through sparkling waterfalls and so much more.
Universal is using some of the incredible technology that makes its theme park attractions so compelling to create a first-of-its-kind aqua coaster in Florida. The attraction will use linear induction motor technology, which launches the canoe uphill before it immediately sends riders into a downhill plunge. This technology – combined with the immersive theming Universal is known for – will make Krakatau Aqua Coaster a unique water theme park attraction that’s fun for the entire family.
What is TapuTapu?
TapuTapu is a wearable technology that allows you to wait in line virtually while you’re playing in other areas of the park. Each guest will receive a TapuTapu upon arrive to the park which will alert you when it’s your turn to ride so you can head over to the attraction.
Another function of your TapuTapu is “tap-to-play” which lets your create special effects like controlling streams of water from whales in Tot Tiki Reef, shooting water cannons at guests riding down the Kopiko Wai Winding River, and illuminating images in volcano caves.
Universal’s Volcano Bay is designed to be as fun and hassle-free as possible. Will you be purchasing your tickets on November 15?!
Recently, Universal Orlando Resort announced the next original concept in a line of unique venues to come to Universal CityWalk – a delectable dining experience that combines chocolate and savory dishes with a fun atmosphere. Today, Universal is going to let us in on the story behind this new, full service restaurant.
The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen is the next evolution of dining at Universal CityWalk, following a groundbreaking two years of unprecedented growth that includes other original concepts from the Universal team like NBC Sports Grill & Brew, Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food, Vivo Italian Kitchen and Red Oven Pizza Bakery.
Since Universal started this project in 2013, they knew they wanted to do something with chocolate – something that would elevate everyone’s favorite confection to the next level. The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium does just that by combining the incredible storytelling from Universal Orlando’s Creative and Entertainment teams with the high quality service and delectable dishes of our Food & Beverage team.
As they looked for inspiration, the Steampunk era really stood out with its rebellious spirit of creation and industrial influences. After delving deeper into the genre and its design elements, Universal found the structural shapes and rich color palettes to evoke exactly the type of experience that they wanted to create for their guests. It was the perfect fit.
Even from afar, you’ll see the Steampunk influence with working gears and smokestacks. Once you step inside, hosts dressed in alternative fashions will greet you. The sights and sounds of brass gadgetry and manufacturing will immediately surround you.
And of course, you’ll be able to indulge in all of the delectable creations – from the decadent milkshakes to the eclectic savory dishes, there’s plenty to choose from. I tried to think of my favorite menu item to share with you, but it was all so good – We can’t possibly choose just one! You’ll have to discover your favorite later this year.
By the way, you may have noticed we’ve used a different name for the new restaurant than what was originally announced. As part of the creative process, they are always refining the experience we create for Universal guests and how they talk about it. Universal Orlando realized they wanted more focus to the name. And so they landed on making “emporium” more prominent because that word conveys what thry want to create for guests – a place filled with a fun atmosphere and a large variety of food and retail opportunities.
Guests can now book their visit to experience the ultimate Halloween event – Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights – and stay at the destination’s newest hotel, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort.

As soon as the gates of Halloween Horror Nights open, guests become “victims” as they’re immersed in iconic horror films, terrifying hit TV shows and haunting original stories.
Guests will encounter hordes of menacing “scareactors” who stalk their every move, incredibly-detailed haunted houses that bring their worst nightmares to life and outrageous live shows. Universal Creating First-Ever Experience That
Will Allow Guests to Actually Ride the Iconic Train
One of the most memorable and exciting experiences from the Harry Potter series will come to life at Universal Orlando Resort this summer. Imagine:
Being transported from the Muggle world to the wizarding world as you pass through the brick wall at King’s Cross Station to arrive at Platform 9 ¾
Watching in amazement as the Hogwarts Express pulls into the station – its billowing steam and authentic whistle beckoning you to hop aboard
Sitting in one of the train’s cabins with your family and friends and actually riding the Hogwarts Express – just as your favorite characters did in the Harry Potter films
Looking outside your cabin window and enjoying a scenic, breathtaking journey through the British countryside as you encounter magical creatures, some of your favorite Harry Potter characters…and even Dementors…
Since the very first Harry Potter film, every fan has dreamed of taking the same classic journey Harry Potter did aboard the Hogwarts Express. And this summer – they will get to live it.
Never before has this been done – creating an actual train ride experience to connect two spectacularly themed environments. The Hogwarts Express experience combines powerful storytelling, live special effects, lifelike animation and state-of-the-art technology to take riders on the journey of a lifetime. Guests will enjoy two completely different experiences depending on whether they’re traveling to Hogsmeade or London.
Once seated in the cabin, guests will be able to look out their windows as an incredibly authentic and magical adventure unfolds before them. They’ll see Hagrid come alongside the train on his flying motorbike, Buckbeak the Hippogriff swoop gracefully over the black lake, the Weasley twins on brooms and up to their usual antics, the Knight Bus swerving through London traffic – and other special moments and surprises.
Universal’s Creative team has been working closely with Warner Bros., Stuart Craig and the production team from the Harry Potter films to create a sensational Hogwarts Express experience that the entire family can enjoy. The Creative team has gone to great lengths to ensure the experience is true to the books and films. Everything about the train is authentic – from the paint and the materials used to build it….all the way down to the whistle.

Diagon Alley will feature a new ride called Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts – a multi-sensory, multi-dimensional journey that will take theme park attractions to a new level.
