Hanging by the pool can be one of the best parts of summer, especially if you’re surrounded by good company. Universal has four on-site hotels, each with magnificent pools that offer unique experiences year round.

The lazy river at Cabana Bay Beach Resort is the perfect place to relax (or have a water gun fight with your friends) and the serene, white sand beaches at Loews Royal Pacific Resort remind me of a vacation on an island hidden in the Caribbean. No matter how you slice it, these relaxing pools are sure to have you feeling like its summer any day of the year.

Fire up the Barbeque

Who doesn’t remember chasing an ice cream truck down the street during summer to get a cool scoop? We won’t make you run for our ice cream, but you’ll definitely want to hurry and check out some of our signature creations.

There are plenty of selections throughout both theme parks and at CityWalk like fan-favorite, the refreshing Earl Grey & Lavender ice cream at Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. They’ve also got the finest and freshest custom creations at Cold Stone Creamery and great tasting frozen yogurt at Menchie’s in CityWalk.

Universal Orlando To Add 5th Resort Sapphire Falls in 2016

Universal and Loews Hotels & Resorts have announced plans for a 5th hotel to be added to Universal Orlando, Sapphire Falls Resort to open in 2016.

resources_digitalassets_Sapphire-Falls-Rendering_1

Located in between the Royal Pacific Resort and the newly-opened Cabana Bay Beach Resort, the new resort will be a colorful Caribbean hideaway built around a lush, tropical lagoon and towering waterfall.

Sapphire Falls will add 1,000 rooms, including 77 suites, which will bring the number of on-site hotel rooms at Universal Orlando to 5,200. Earlier this Summer, Universal announced plans to expand on the adjacent Royal Pacific Resort, which will see the addition of larger meeting and event space.

The expected price point for the hotel should fall between Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Royal Pacific, but that is solely based on speculation and not confirmed by Universal Orlando at this time.

resources_digitalassets_Sapphire-Falls-Rendering_2

Inspired by the picturesque rivers and waterfalls of the Caribbean, Loews Sapphire Falls will immerse guests in a highly themed resort environment using traditional island styling with modern touches. A resort-style pool with a water slide, children’s play area, sand beach and fire pit will help form a central courtyard and will be surrounded by the hotel’s guest rooms. There will be water taxi and shuttle access to all of the entertainment and dining options throughout Universal Orlando Resort, however it will not include the Express Pass benefit, similar to the Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

“Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will be every bit as distinctive as the other four on-site hotels and will offer a new option to families looking for a truly special Orlando vacation,” says Jonathan Tisch, Chairman of Loews Hotels & Resorts.  “We are excited to continue our growth plans at Loews Hotels by building another hotel with our long-standing partners at Universal Orlando.”

“We look forward to bringing them yet another incredibly themed experience with the opening of Loews Sapphire Falls Resort,” said Tom Williams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Universal Parks & Resorts.  “Our guests repeatedly tell us that our Universal Orlando on-site hotels provide them a completely immersive vacation experience from the moment they enter our hotels and are transported to another place.”

The new hotel will be full service. Amenities will include Early Park Admission to Universal’s theme parks, a full-service restaurant with scenic views and outdoor dining, a themed lobby lounge, poolside bar and grill, quick-service marketplace, valet service and a fitness center. Booking information and pricing will be announced at a later date, however reservations are slated to begin around the Spring 2015.

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT ANNOUNCES A NEW SPECTACULARLY THEMED ON-SITE HOTEL DEVELOPMENT

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 9, 2012) – Universal Parks & Resorts and Loews Hotels & Resorts will build a new hotel development at Universal Orlando that will add high-quality, high-value options for families wanting an affordable on-site experience.

Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort will offer two distinct experiences within the development’s multiple buildings: 900 family suites, capable of sleeping six, that include kitchen areas and 900 standard guest rooms – offering both moderate- and value-priced accommodations. It will be operated by Loews Hotels & Resorts and is scheduled to open in 2014.

The hotel will be themed differently than anything else currently available at Universal Orlando. It will evoke the driving vacations so many Americans grew up enjoying with their families – spending time at sweeping motor courts just off the highway, where families relaxed and played after a long day’s drive. The new hotel’s hip, vintage look will be accented with bold design, dramatic, clean lines, bright, period colors and touches of neon. Inside areas including the lobby, dining areas and large, comfortable rooms will follow suit. The hotel will have two themed pool areas.

“Our new hotel will give guests an affordable, incredibly themed on-site hotel experience unlike anything else at our resort,” said Tom Williams, chairman and chief executive officer, Universal Parks & Resorts. “Our new family suites and family-value pricing will give our guests on-site options they’ve never had before.”

The hotel will be built on a 37-acre site within Universal Orlando Resort and adjacent to Universal’s Islands of Adventure – just off Hollywood Way and Turkey Lake Road. Site work will begin soon. Pricing information, opening timeframes and room on-sale dates will be released over time.

The new hotel will allow families to choose between value pricing or the higher level of benefits and service that come with staying at other on-site Universal Orlando hotels – Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, the Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort. It will provide early park admission, proximity to Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios and resort-wide charging privileges – but will not offer complimentary Universal Express Unlimited Access.

“The Cabana Bay Beach Resort furthers our goal of operating special and distinct properties in important markets,” said Paul Whetsell, Loews Hotels & Resorts president and CEO. “This is another important step in our plan to expand the Loews system in major markets across the United States.”
