Dole Whip Gets Spiked with Spiced Rum!

This year at Epcot’s 2013 International Food & Wine Festival you’ll be able to taste a Dole Whip with a little adult kick to it. This tasty frozen treat will be available at the new Pineapple Promenade Booth. You can see by the pictures below that you won’t be getting more than about 1 shot of spiced rum in this serving but its just enough to remind you that you’re touring around a Food & Wine festival. Compared to the original Dole Whip Float (my personal favorite Disney frozen treat), whip has tons of great pineapple juice for it’s pineapple ice cream to melt into, this new Spiced Rum Dole Whip has nominal liquid. Be prepared for a long line as you approach the Pineapple Promenade Booth. This twist on an already popular Disney dessert (along with the Central Florida sun) is sure to make it a festival favorite. I believe Captain Jack Sparrow would be happy with this treat. “Why is the rum gone?” Disney put it in the Dole Whips!

Here is a list of all the menu items available at the Pineapple Promenade Booth:

  • Dole® Whip
  • Dole® Whip with Siesta Key Spiced Rum
  • Pineapple Upside Down Cake featuring Dole® Pineapple
  • Dole® Pineapple Fruit Cup
  • Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade – Non Alcoholic
  • Samuel Adams® Cream Stout

Mermaids Make a Splashing Debut at Pirates of the Caribbean at Walt Disney World Resort

Last month, we hinted here that something from the film “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” would be added into the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction here at Walt Disney World Resort.

Mermaids Make a Splashing Debut at Pirates of the Caribbean

These new additions, the lovely (but also dangerous) Mermaids of Whitecap Bay, recently made their debut at the attraction. You can spot them early on in the attraction’s grotto scene, where you can spy a mermaid skeleton and possibly even catch them swimming alongside your boat. You can also hear a mermaid beckon you with her siren song just before your drop into the pirate battle. Additional rockwork and props have also been added into the Dead Man’s Cove scene.

This isn’t the first time something from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise has debuted at our Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Famous faces from the film, including Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa, and most recently the ghostly apparitions of knaves Davy Jones and Blackbeard, have all materialized over the years.

Which addition has been your favorite? Tell us in the “comments” section below.

Ahoy! Changes Are Afoot at Pirates of the Caribbean at Magic Kingdom Park

In honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, I’m excited to have a bit of news to share on one of my all-time favorite attractions, Pirates of the Caribbean here at Magic Kingdom Park.

http://kingdommagictravel.com/disneyworld/theme-parks/magic-kingdom/pirates.htm

This classic Disney attraction, which inspired a four-part film franchise, has undergone a few changes in recent years due to the success of these movies. First, Captain Jack Sparrow made his debut at the attraction, then Captain Barbossa (pictured above) appeared aboard a pirate ship. More recently, the ghostly apparitions of knaves Davy Jones and Blackbeard have materialized.

Our friends at Walt Disney Imagineering dropped us a line today to let us know that something from the most recent film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” is about to be added to the attraction here at Walt Disney World Resort. Can you guess what it is?

Updates to the attraction will be made overnight, so Pirates of the Caribbean will remain open to guests during park hours.
