Car Masters Weekend is the perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day as Downtown Disney hosts a classic car show with a modern twist June 14-15, 2014.
Featuring all things “Cars,” the event showcases classic, muscle and exotic vehicles from across the country; a chance for guests to meet favorite “Cars″ characters such as Lightning McQueen and Mater; and special celebrity appearances.
Completing the car-filled weekend, fans may purchase tickets for a ”Cars” & “Cars 2″ movie marathon at AMC Downtown Disney 24 and enjoy face painting, themed food and beverage, live entertainment and more. (Entertainment subject to change)
Did you see our float, “Destination: Cars Land” in the 124th Rose Parade from Pasadena, Calif., on New Years Day? If not, you’re in luck because we have a video recap for you! The 125-foot-long float was a floral replica of Cars Land, the new land at Disney California Adventure park here at the Disneyland Resort, and it floated down Colorado Boulevard to the classic tune, “Get Your Kicks On Route 66.” From the thousands of volunteers to the thousands of flowers, seeds and foliage, everything seemed to go off without a hitch — until it broke down! Check it out.
Here are some photos from earlier this year at Rancho del Zocalo in Disneyland park. No, it’s not just about the food, but rather seeing fireworks from unusual places – for instance, behind the neon sign of Flo’s V8 Café as shown in my last post from Cars Land.
In this close-up, the horse appears to have been spooked by the fireworks. However, I can assure you that no animals were harmed in the making of this photo.
Where’s your favorite unusual place to see the fireworks at Disneyland park?
We think this signature beverage will be a big hit at Gaston’s Tavern when New Fantasyland opens later this year – LeFou’s Brew, named after Gaston’s sidekick in “Beauty and the Beast.” It’s no-sugar added frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with all-natural passion fruit-mango foam. We bet the souvenir steins and goblets are going to go fast. (And, yes, if it sounds familiar, guests at Cars Land at the Disneyland Resort may have tasted the frozen concoction at the Cozy Cone.)
The quick-service restaurant, created to look like a comfy lodge in the French countryside, will be a great place to escape from the Florida sun. Outside is a statue of Gaston hoisting two kegs of his favorite brew; inside he’s center stage in a big portrait over the fireplace.
The signature sweet at Gaston’s, by the way, is warm, gooey cinnamon rolls, served all day.
You probably noticed that Disney California Adventure park has a certain “glow” this summer. As Erin Glover showed you in July, special Mickey Ear hats that light up the night can be seen throughout the park at various spots in Cars Land, Mad T Party and “World of Color.” They’re called “Glow with the Show” ears and they use the latest, infrared trigger technology that allows guests to become part of the “Disney magic,” as their hats sync up to the colors in the shows and beat of the music.
Now these special ears glow at Disneyland park. More than 3,000 Annual Passholders recently gathered to glow with the classic guest favorite, “Fantasmic!” The sea of colorful ears was a spectacular sight. Check it out for yourself and then come to the Disneyland Resort and get your glow on!
You can get your own pair of “Glow with the Show” ears at select merchandise locations in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks or at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney.
Cars Land at Disney California Adventure in the Disneyland Resort in California has been open for just over a month now and many of our you have commented on our beautiful landscaping. It’s almost its own attraction! Our landscape architects really outdid themselves as they researched and designed just the right planting palette to add beauty and detail to Radiator Springs. And of course they also were concerned with providing appropriate trees to provide shade and comfort for our guests.
What you probably aren’t aware of is the amount of research that went into designing a desert-looking landscape for the middle of Anaheim and the numbers of trees, shrubs, plants and cactus that were used in the making of Cars Land.
Check out the video below, where two of our talented landscape architects, Russell Larsen and Jennifer Mok, talk about the beautiful plants in Cars Land!
MOVIE MAGIC & MOTORS — With the theme park’s iconic “Earffel Tower” standing tall in the background, a professional stunt driver takes flight on the set of “Lights, Motors, Action! Later this summer the star of “Cars” and “Cars 2” will join the cast of high-octane characters.

All the world’s a racetrack as superstar Lightning McQueen zooms back into action, with best friend Mater in tow, to take on the globe’s fastest and finest in this thrilling high-octane new installment of the “Cars” saga.
