New Show Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Early 2019

Calling all racers! Beginning in early 2019, there’s going to be another exciting reason to get revved up about a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios®. It’s Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, a high-octane first-of-its-kind new show that’ll put you right in the middle of the world of Disney•Pixar’s “Cars.”

At Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, located near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, you will come face-to-face with racing legend Lightning McQueen, who is excited to showcase what he’s learned over the years with Guests – the next generation of rookie racers. Of course, as Lightning McQueen has discovered throughout his career, things don’t always go according to plan, and he has to think fast to get back on course. With friends Tow Mater, Cruz Ramirez and the gang from Radiator Springs on his side, Lightning gears up for the challenge.

You can speed on over to find out what happens when Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy opens early next year!

Traveling With Kids to the Disneyland Resort

Your kids are only young for a few years and there is no better place to spend time as a family than at the original magical kingdom, Disneyland!

Disneyland Park

Here are some of the magical travel tips that can help you plan your next visit. It’s easy for the whole family to get involved thanks a free iPhone and iPad app that lets you explore exciting things to see and do at the resort.

Another great tool is — you can access it through your mobile device and bring it with you to the theme parks! It has attraction locations, park hours, show times and lots of helpful information.

Disneyland Resort has really grown in the past few years.  Now there are even more unforgettable adventures and timeless favorites to enjoy from day to night.

Mater's Junkyard Jamboree

For kids five to thirteen, there is Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree in Disney California Adventure Park. You’ll want to arrive early for this popular attraction in Cars Land.   There’s also Fantasy Faire, an enchanting storybook world in the Disneyland Park where little ones can meet Disney princesses. And, of course, there’s the classic must-do attraction Matterhorn Bobsleds.

After dark, the entire family can enjoy two nighttime spectaculars — Fantasmic! in Disneyland Park and World of Color in Disney California Adventure Park. World of Color is one of the experiences where you can use Disney FASTPASS Service on select attractions — it’s included with valid theme park admission and allows you to enjoy Disneyland Resort while your place in line is saved.

World of Color

Another great service is Disney’s PhotoPass Service — imagine getting everyone into the photo at the same time!

It’s comforting to know that Disneland also has First Aid facilities in easy-to-find locations at both theme parks. And there’s also a place to retrieve Lost and Found items just outside the main entrance to Disneyland Park.

We hope your next visit is as memorable and remember, your kids are only young once so make the most of your time together at the Disneyland Resort.

The Disney Parks Experience is Always Evolving Just Like Walt Disney Wanted

Magic Bands at Walt Disney Parks

If you have visited any of the amazing Disney Theme Parks over the last few years, you would have noticed that they always seem to be in a state of change.  Here is just a partial list of recent changes to the Disney Parks:

And the list could easily go on.

For some, all this change brings anxiety and to others it brings excitement.  Many people don’t ever want the parks to change while at the same time, many want the parks to always be bringing new experiences to Disney Guests.

But if we go back to the beginning with Walt and Disneyland, he always wanted the parks to be adding new experiences.  He felt that the parks HAD to use new technologies to create even more magic.

Walt Disney said Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.

Disney Fans can always debate the pros and cons of the loss of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride or 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at Walt Disney World (a loss that I still feel to this day) but in light of Walt’s desire for the parks to always change, fans have to understand the need to keep moving forward.

That change has brought us amazing experiences like Space Mountain, The Tower of Terror, and Disney’s California Adventure Park.  The theme park experience is constantly evolving.  Disney is always looking to make the Park Guest experience even better by adding Magic Bands at Walt Disney World or the My Disney Mobile App at Disneyland, Imagineers are always looking to leverage technology to help create even more magic for all of us!

And that’s what makes the Disney Park Experience so special; it’s never the same way twice!   DisneyMagic must change and can never be the same way twice.  As much as we all love the attractions and experiences from the past, we must continue to follow Uncle Walt and keep moving to that “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!”

The My Disney Experience mobile app delivers pertinent parks information, maps and simple navigation to guests on the fly - via their smart phone or other portable device.

I would love to know what you think.  Leave me a comment and let us know how you feel about all the changes happening at the Disney Parks.

Beyond Sodas: Snazzy New Sips in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park

“Guests want options other than water and soft drinks,” says Jeannie Villarreal-Bissell, Disneyland Resort Beverage Manager. “They want something fun and unique – something they may not be able to create themselves – and it needs to be yummy!”
Cue the Disney beverage experts. And Walt Disney Imagineering to come up with clever names.
Cars Land offers six fun, new non-alcoholic sips themed to the hit film, “Cars.” For example, at the Cozy Cone Motel, Cone #1 features “Ramone’s Pear of Dice Soda” made with desert pear and mojito flavorings and Sprite. Remember Ramone in the movie, the lowrider who owns Ramone’s House of Body Art? Also at Cone #1, there’s regular and cinnamon-spiced hot cocoa.

Fillmore’s Fuelin’ Groovy Ades

At Cone #2, check out the “route” beer floats. Cone #3 serves “Fillmore’s Fuelin’ Groovy Ades,” an all-natural lemonade with wild berry foam, or pomegranate limeade with lemon-lime foam. Fillmore is the resident hippie bus who owns an organic fuel shop in the movie.

Cone #4 serves Red’s Apple Freeze, made with 100% frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow and passion fruit-mango foam (delicious!). Red is the retro red fire truck in the movie, thus the “toasted marshmallow.”

Cone #5 offers Doc’s Wild Grape Tonic, with Sprite, wild grape syrup and wild berry foam topping. We loved Doc Hudson, the 1951 Hudson Hornet and town doctor in “Cars.”

Mater’s Tulsa Tea

At Flo’s V8 Café, you can try Mater’s Tulsa Tea, sweet green tea topped with passion fruit mango foam. Or a shake – chocolate, vanilla and or strawberry – topped off with “road gravel” (crunchy candies).

 Cozy Cone souvenir cups

The 16-ounce drinks are $3.29 to $4.29, and available in a souvenir glass for an extra charge. (The Cozy Cone souvenir cups are pretty darn cute – shaped like a traffic cone.)

Which one will you try first?
