Spooky Fun During Halloween on the High Seas Aboard Disney Cruise Line

Halloween on the High Seas will transform Disney Cruise Line ships into a ghoulish wonderland starting in September through the end of October, and there are haunted adventures to be had by each and every one of you! From joining the spine-chilling Sing and Scream to gathering around the Pumpkin Tree for mysterious fun, you won’t want to miss this Halloween celebration!

Here are just some of my favorite ways to celebrate the spookiest time of year onboard a Disney ship:

Spooky Fun During Halloween on the High Seas Aboard Disney Cruise Line

1. Experience the Mysterious Pumpkin Trees
Each ship’s Pumpkin Tree is unique, with Grim on the Disney Dream, Muckelbones on the Disney Fantasy, Bog on the Disney Wonder and Reap on the Disney Magic. Watch these trees magically transform from eerie and barren into the life of the party with sprouting Jack-O-Lanterns and flickering lights.

2. Dance the Night Away at a Mouse-Querade
Join your favorite Disney characters dressed in their Halloween best for Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party. This spooky costume party features games, dancing and of course, lots of candy!

3. Sing and Scream with Jack & Sally
During A Nightmare Before Christmas – Sing and Scream, enjoy an interactive movie experience and be immersed in the infamous Halloween Town. Afterwards, meet the couple that was “simply meant to be” in a special meet-and-greet with Jack Skellington and Sally.

4. Indulge in Eerie Eats
Our bone-ifed genius chefs have conjured up some yummy eats and tasty treats for you this Halloween. Make the day’s celebration extra special with indulgences like the not-so-scary Spider Cake and Spooky Juice.

5. Live to Tell the Tales
After a night of thrills and chills, gather on the upper decks for Haunted Stories of the Sea. A mysterious sea captain will guide the way and tell the tales of the legends who once sailed the high seas many moons ago.

6. Halloween Isn’t Just for Kids
Keep the fun going late at night in the ship’s nighttime entertainment district. With an adults-only costume contest and a Villainous Takeover on the dance floor, the party doesn’t stop when the little ones head to the youth clubs!

So, what are you waiting for? Grab a costume and set sail for a spooky fun time during Halloween on the High Seas aboard the Disney Dream starting Sept. 4, Disney Fantasy starting Sept. 2, Disney Wonder starting Sept. 15 and Disney Magic starting Sept. 27. Happy Haunting!

Spectacular “Frozen” Fun on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder This Summer

Who’s ready to bring back summer?! Summer is an extra special time of year as the Disney Magic sails throughout Europe and the Disney Wonder journeys to Alaska. And just like last year, we’re celebrating the return of summer with friends from the Kingdom of Arendelle!

“Freezing the Night Away with Anna, Elsa and Friends” Deck Party

On select Disney Magic and Disney Wonder sailings, you’ll be transported to the land of “Frozen” when the ship is transformed into a winter wonderland. On one special morning, you’ll awake to discover a magical freeze has overtaken the atrium lobby with sparkling icicles adorning the grand staircase, resembling the majestic mountain-top ice palace of Queen Elsa. Throughout the day there will be Scandinavian-inspired family activities, a themed dining experience with a menu of traditional Nordic fare and meet and greets with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf.

This “cool” day of frozen fun culminates with an extravagant celebration, “Freezing the Night Away with Anna, Elsa and Friends.” This family-friendly interactive deck party features the famous royal sisters of Arendelle and their fun-loving Nordic companions. By now, the freeze has spread to the upper decks of the ship, with giant snowflakes, icicles and snow-covered rocks.

“Frozen” Fun Aboard Disney Cruise Line

The celebration begins with a high-energy line dance, set to the movie’s ice cutting scene, featuring the arrival of Kristoff, impressively twirling his ice picks, and Princess Anna. Kristoff and Anna’s beloved companions, Sven, the trolls and Olaf, make virtual appearances at the party. Sven engages the crowd in reindeer games like “Sven Says” and the “Troll Stroll,” and Olaf leads a sing along to his signature song, “In Summer.”

Elsa arrives with a snowy gust of wind, calling on guests to sing “Let it Go” with her as she conjures up a wintry spectacle to cool things down for Olaf. In true Disney fashion, Elsa unleashes her magic, sending a chill through everyone as the powerful Academy Award-winning song echoes from the ship. The evening concludes with more family dancing on the pool deck. Then the fun continues just for adults in the dance club featuring performances and frozen specialty drinks.

“Freezing the Night Away with Anna, Elsa and Friends” Deck Party

If you’re sailing on the Disney Magic or Disney Wonder this summer, be sure to post photos of this incredible day on Instagram and Twitter with #DisneyCruise. We have a feeling many of you will be saying, “Hands down, this is the best day of my life.”

For the first time, we’ll take guests to Alaska’s Icy Strait Point and Hubbard Glacier. These dramatic locations are part of a new nine-night itinerary on the Disney Wonder. Departing from Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 24, 2017, this itinerary also sails to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Tracy Arm Fjord.

Nearby, Glacier Bay National Park is a spectacular highlight of Alaska’s Inside Passage and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another highlight of this cruise is seeing Hubbard Glacier, the largest and most active tidewater glacier in North America. 7 Things to Look for When You See ‘Tangled: The Musical’ On Disney Cruise Line

Over the past several months, Disney Cruise Line has give us an all-access pass to the making of “Tangled: The Musical,” with behind-the-scenes looks into the creation of music, costumes, sets, choreography and puppetry.

TTM8009625

There is so much to look forward to when the show debuts aboard the Disney Magic, so we’ve rounded up our top seven details to look (and listen!) for when you see it for the first time:

1. Bavarian inspiration: Everything from set designs to costumes to choreography was inspired in some way by the sights, sounds and heritage of early German culture.

2. Flowers: Rapunzel’s story begins with a magical flower, but many more have been “planted” in the show’s design. Look for more than 200 physical flowers—plus dozens of others that have been drawn, painted, carved and sewn—in scenic elements, costumes and even Rapunzel’s hair!

3. Immersive moments: The creative team designed the show to totally immerse you in the story as characters interact with the audience; scenes spill over the stage and lanterns float overhead.

TTMHT479572-613x341

4. The guitar: Legendary composer Alan Menken’s score was inspired by folk rock music, so listen closely to hear undertones of the guitar thread throughout the show. You may even see a character strumming away!

5. Glowing scenic elements: A magical flower, Rapunzel’s hair, floating lanterns, burning candles and glowing murals … There are definitely a lot of bright spots to see in this show!

6. Organic choreography: Choreographer Connor Gallagher developed each dance number to feel natural and folksy, focusing on loose movements, lower centers of gravity and personal touches by each character.

TTMHT479573-613x409

7. Nods to the movie: Of course, this is still the story of Rapunzel’s grand adventure, so you’ll see and hear many of your favorite characters, scenes, songs and quotes.

Tips to Add Variety to Mealtime on a Disney Cruise

You never run out of dining choices on a Disney cruise. Here are some tips to add even more variety to your mealtimes …

dpodpo7365111-613x409
Opt for dinner at Cabanas or Beach Blanket Buffet.

You know that Cabanas (Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Magic) and Beach Blanket Buffet (Disney Wonder) offer buffet-style dining for breakfast and lunch. But what you may not know is that in the evenings, the restaurant transforms into a table-service casual dining experience, where dinner entrees are cooked to order. No reservations are required, making it a convenient option when you aren’t able to make your assigned dinner time in the main dining room.

dpodpo83691222-613x409Order room service whenever your stomach desires.

Breakfast in bed, afternoon nosh or midnight snack – cravings can be satisfied any time of day with 24-hour complimentary room service. You can feast on fresh, made-to-order food in the comfort of your stateroom around the clock. This convenient service comes in quite handy when your little one is taking a nap during lunchtime or when you can’t pull yourself away from that gorgeous view on your personal verandah.

dpodpo73812223-613x409Eat a delicious barbeque lunch on Castaway Cay.

The chefs you love onboard also grill up specialties like Cajun mahi-mahi, ribeye steaks and chicken on our private island, Castaway Cay. The “all-you-care-to-eat” island barbecue is offered in three spots under the shade of covered pavilions and umbrellas. Two family-friendly locations are steps from the Family Beach, while adults have a dining area all to themselves at the far end of the island next to Serenity Bay.
dpodpo73689944-613x409
Try the local cuisine out in port.

Exploring a destination is always a great opportunity to try new cuisine and taste the local fare. I know you’ll miss what the Disney chefs are serving, but don’t miss your chance to eat in port. Do some research before your cruise to determine the best spots, or ask around to get suggestions from other Disney cruisers who have been there before. Even better, choose a Port Adventure that includes a lunch of authentic dishes prepared by locals.

dpodpo746995551-613x408

Join the party at a themed buffet for families.

A great party isn’t complete without tasty grub! After our Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party, head over to the pirate buffet for a late-night snack on fiesta favorites like fajitas, tacos, rice and beans. There’s also a huge selection of desserts and a made-to-order crepe station with ice cream. In Alaska, our midday barbecue feast of wild Alaskan salmon and other special seafood dishes celebrates the momentous occasion of sailing through the breathtaking Tracy Arm Fjord.

Any tips to add? In my final post of this series next week, I’ll tell you about dining indulgences onboard just for adults you won’t want to miss!

Disney Magic To Debut Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique This Fall

Aspiring young princesses and knights are in for a treat when Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique debuts on the Disney Magic this fall! This whimsical salon for children ages three to 12 is coming to Deck 10 in the forward part of the ship.

BBBDCL475951-613x408

Our fairy godmothers-in-training are storing up fairy dust for the very special makeovers they’ll be granting at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Kids can choose from several looks, including a Disney Princess, royal knight and more. On pirate party night, this boutique becomes The Pirates League, and pirates of all ages can be transformed here from landlubber to buccaneer.

BBBDCL475952-613x409

Tweens are also in store for new adventures when Edge moves to Deck 9 midship. This super cool space will feature a dance floor and high-tech gaming stations. What won’t change is the fact that this area is reserved just for 11- to 14-year-olds, giving tweens the chance for a little independence from their parents (under the supervision of our fun youth counselors, of course!)

Cruisers on our transatlantic voyage from Spain to Miami, departing September 19, will be the first to enjoy these enhancements. The Disney Magic will then sail 4- and 5-night voyages from Miami to the Bahamas and Caribbean throughout the fall.

Is your little one most excited about becoming a princess in a paradise or a pirate IN the Caribbean when you visit Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on the Disney Magic?

New “Tangled: The Musical” Coming to Disney Cruise Line

In November 2015, the endearing characters and captivating music of the animated film “Tangled” will enchant audiences once again, this time as an original stage show spectacular at sea aboard the Disney Magic – the first time the beloved Disney tale has been adapted for the stage.

tangled-dcl

“Tangled: The Musical” will immerse guests in Rapunzel’s fairytale world through lavish production numbers and spellbinding music. Three new songs created exclusively for this show by Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and Grammy Award-winning lyricist Glenn Slater will bring the story to life onstage.

Featuring elaborate costumes, groundbreaking puppetry and stunning set designs, the show will stay true to the storyline from the hit film – with a few special twists to create a live staged production.

“Tangled: The Musical” complements the line-up of Disney Cruise Line-exclusive live entertainment performed every voyage aboard the Disney Magic, joining “Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story” and “Disney Dreams… An Enchanted Classic,” which will feature a new segment from the blockbuster animated hit “Frozen” beginning in summer 2015.

The new show will premiere during the Nov. 11, 2015 four-night Bahamian sailing aboard the Disney Magic, which will sail four-night Bahamas and five-night Western Caribbean cruises from Miami beginning Sept. 30, 2015 through the new year.
