Part 2 – 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Arts VIDEO – Walt Disney World

In today’s blog post I am excited to share with you part 2 of my experience at the 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Arts! If you read my previous post then you know how excited I was to be attending this festival for my very first time in person! This was the one festival that I had yet to experience for myself and now having returned from my vacation I can say that this festival just might be my favorite Epcot festival! The event encompasses everything from visual arts to culinary arts and even performing arts! Every corner of the park had something new and fun to discover!

I filmed my entire experience at Festival of the Arts and you can watch it all in our new video series on our YouTube Channel! Join me on part 2 of my Festival of the arts journey! Here’s what you will see in part 2:

We continued our first day at the festival by making our way to the Morocco Pavilion where we found “Mosaic Canteen,” the festival marketplace in Morocco. Looking over the menu I was instantly drawn to the Mediterranean Flatbread with Za’atar, Olive Oil Artichoke, Olives, Mozzarella, and Feta Cheese. This dish received a 5 out of 5 on my rating scale! It had a little kick of heat but the creaminess of the feta cheese definitely cut the spiciness. This flatbread was packed full of flavor and was such a unique item!

It was then time for our Frozen Ever After Fastpass! We changed up our path around World Showcase and backtracked toward Norway to get to our Fastpass. Along the way, we stopped to look at a few more of the art booths and some of the vendors. You can definitely make multiple laps around World Showcase and always end up coming across something new! We stopped to admire and browse through many of these art galleries. I found a table that I absolutely loved! This table’s base was made up of beautiful sculptures featuring characters from the Little Mermaid! Ariel has always been my favorite princess so I was fascinated with this beautiful work of art!

We then took a detour from festival activities to ride Frozen Ever After in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion, followed by a ride on the Grand Fiesta Tour in the Mexico Pavilion. After enjoying these two attractions it was time to experience the Festival of the Arts offering that I had been anticipating the most… the Animation Academy! If you have been a Disney parks fan for the past few years or more than you will most likely remember when the Animation Academy was a year-round attraction with a permanent home at Hollywood Studios. In this experience, you get to participate in a 20-minute-long drawing class with a Disney animator! By the end of the session you will have completed your very own Disney character drawing that you get to take home. My family and I always loved this experience! In the days back when Animation Academy was at Hollywood Studios we would at times go around and around, getting back in line and taking the class over and over again! Over the years, we brought home enough sketches to make our own gallery! A few years back Animation Academy at Hollywood Studios was replaced by Star War Launch Bay. Here’s the good news, the Animation Academy lives on at Festival of the Arts! During the event, you can visit the Animation Academy over at Epcot’s Odyssey Center! The class is structured exactly the same as when the experience was at Hollywood Studios! I was so excited to be back at the Animation Academy! We did two classes back to back. During our first class, we drew Pluto and during our second class we drew Chip from Beauty and the Beast!

After our class at Animation Academy we ventured into Future World to explore more of the offerings for Festival of the Arts. Over by Test Track we found “Taste Track,” a festival marketplace. There was one item here that I specifically wanted, the Paintbrush Churros! These are Mini Cinnamon Sugar Churros Dipped in Colorful White Chocolate! Be sure to snap a picture of these before enjoying them because the presentation is too cute! The churros are served to you inside of a paper cone. The tops of each churro features cascading colorful white chocolate that gives the look of paint running down a paintbrush! It is adorable and it taste incredible! A churro is a classic theme park treat and the white chocolate just enhanced it to a whole new level of deliciousness!

After enjoying those delicious churros, it was time to head out of the park for the night and back to our resort. We made our way to the front of Epcot, but before heading to catch our resort bus we made sure to stop and admire the Festival of the Arts display at the front entrance of the park! We had entered early this day through the entrance at International gateway so this was our first time seeing the beautiful and colorful festival display that is at the front of the park! The display featured a topiary of figment holding a paintbrush and all around him were rainbows and splashes of color!

Watch our YouTube Video:

We then said goodnight to Epcot and caught the bus back to our hotel, but this was just the begin for our time at the Festival! Stay tuned for part 3, when we come back for our second day at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts!

My Top 5 Favorite Things During my Visit to the 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Arts! Walt Disney World

Just a few days ago I returned from an amazing vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort! Every visit to Disney is special but my family and I all agreed that this trip in particular was one of our favorites! We were blessed with such a perfect trip and got to see and do so much during our time in the world. This trip was very different for us. We typically travel to Disney World for a week-long stay at a time, however this trip we came for a long weekend arriving on a Thursday and returning late Monday. Even though this trip was a quick one, we did SO MUCH during our time at Disney and every moment was filled with magic! Prior to this vacation, February had never been a typical time for us to travel to WDW. However, we planned this trip around this time frame for a very specific reason, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts!

2019 marked the third year for this annual Epcot festival and until last week this festival remained the only Epcot Festival that I had not personally experienced. That all changed during this vacation and now that I have experienced Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts, I have so much to share!

The International Festival of the Arts celebrates art in all mediums, with a focus on everything from visual arts, to performing arts and culinary arts! I am an art lover! In my free-time I love oil painting and drawing. Going to see shows and the theatre have always been something I enjoy. And I am a foodie and love getting to try new culinary creations! From the Festival of the Arts beginning I remember remarking that this festival sounded like it was made for me! Every aspect of this event was either a hobby of mine or something I loved! That is why getting to attend my first Festival of the Arts in person was such an incredible moment for me! Here are 5 of my favorite experiences from my time at this year’s 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Arts!

1. Animation Academy

You may remember a few years back Hollywood Studios was home to a little thing called the Animation Academy. In this experience, you got to participate in a 20-minute drawing class instructed by a Disney animator and by the end of the class you have created a Disney character and get to take your masterpiece home with you. This was always one of my family and I’s favorite things to do at Hollywood Studios and there were many days when we would go around and around again and take several classes in a row! To this day, we have a collection in our house of all the drawing we brought home from Animation Academy over the years! We were sad to see this experience go when the Animation building at Hollywood Studios was reimagined into the Star Wars Launch Bay. However, I have good news… the Animation Academy lives on! This experience is alive and well during the Festival of the Arts! That’s right, inside of Epcot’s Odyssey building you will find the Animation Academy! The class structure is just like the experience that once was at Hollywood Studios and I could not be more thrilled! We did the class twice during our time at the festival, the first time we drew Pluto and the second time we drew Chip, the teacup from Beauty and the Beast! This experience is unlike anything else and I am so happy that they have brought Animation Academy to the Festival of the Arts!

2. Meeting Ashley Taylor!

Visual arts have a big presence at the Festival of the Arts, throughout World Showcase and Future World you will find pop-up tents featuring paintings, sculptures, prints and more! All of this art is actually available to purchase and take home with you. I spent a lot of time checking out these art tents. My family and I all collect Disney prints and love filling our homes with Disney artwork. Bringing Disney art home is a great way to remember your vacation and your happy place! What is so cool about these pop-up art tents is that each day different artists come to do meet and greets and signings!  I had a very magical moment as soon as we walked into Festival of the Arts! I met Ashley Taylor! Our first day attending the festival we actually came in though Epcot’s International gateway entrance and the first pop-up booth we came across was located over by the Canada pavilion. I saw this booth happened to have an artist there signing her work. As we got closer I realized it was Ashley Taylor. I am a big fan of her art so the fact that we got to see her on our very first day at the festival, at the very first booth we came across was such a perfect timing moment! I purchased a print and got it signed by Ashley and enjoyed chatting with her for a bit! This aspect of the festival is one that I think is so original and so special! The fact that you can have a personal meeting with a Disney artist and get a piece of art personalized by them is so cool!

3. Food!

As I said before I am a proud self-proclaimed foodie! I love getting to try new dishes and cuisines. The Epcot Festivals are a great way to expand your palate! What I love about the food and beverage offerings at all of the Epcot festivals are that the portions are all tasting sizes, allowing you to try multiple items during your visit and never fill up on just one dish. This is a great way to try new things as well! This is how I found out I like escargot (aka snails)! A few years back at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival I got brave and ate a snail! I LOVED IT! Here’s the thing, if it wasn’t for the festival portions the only chance I would have had to try escargot would have been ordering a full entrée of it somewhere and I would have never done that being unsure if I liked it or not. That is the great thing about the festival, you get those opportunities to try new things you wouldn’t typically try! That is why I was so excited to check out the culinary offerings available at this event! The Festival of the Arts food and drink items stand out on their own from the culinary items found at any other Epcot festival. All of these items are truly unique and original. For the Festival of the Arts the food dishes all have a big emphasis on the artistry that goes into the dish! You will notice that the plating of these festival items is incredible! The food and drink offerings all look too good to eat! I recommend when you order from the market places be sure to watch the chef actually plate your dish because it is done with so much attention to detail and artistry! A stand-out item for me was the Sous-Vide Poulet Rouge Chicken Roulade from Pop Eats! For dessert, I loved the Paintbrush Churros from Taste Track! They were such a novelty and so cute to take a picture of!

4. Disney on Broadway Concerts!

I have always enjoyed the theatre and going to see shows! So for me another big highlight was the Disney on Broadway Concert Series! Every night during the Festival of the Arts performers from Disney Broadway Shows will perform Disney Broadway songs and share stories with guests about their experience working for Disney on Broadway! It has always been my dream to see a Disney on Broadway production in New York City and I was able to get a taste of what is in store right in Epcot! The performing artists that Disney brings in are so talented! Throughout the festival’s run they will rotate through a few pairs of Disney on Broadway performers. During our visit, we got to see Heidi Blickenstaff and Gavin Lee. They were incredible! Heidi is known for her role in Freaky Friday and best known for playing Ursula in Disney’s The Little Mermaid on Broadway! Gavin originated the role of Bert in the West End and Broadway’s production of Disney’s Mary Poppins! He was nominated for both an Oliver and Tony Awards! These performances showcasing the incredible Disney on Broadway talents happen a few times a night at Epcot’s American Gardens Theatre! Be sure to check the times out when you visit, these shows are a must do at the festival!

5. Art Everywhere!

This is the Epcot International Festival of the Arts and for this event Disney truly goes all out with immersing you in the world of art everywhere you turn in the park! The next aspect that I want to share with you is how art is happening live time around you everywhere and it is so magical! What is really cool about this event is that you are not just admiring completed pieces of art but you also get to watch the creation of many works of art and even participate in bringing some of the art to life for yourself! One of my favorite acts we got to see was an artist on the Fountain Stage in world showcase who painted to music! You had to see it to believe it. He danced to modern pop music as he painted and within minutes created a work of art featuring a Disney character! This performance is called “Visual Art in Performance.” What I think is really neat is that after the artist is done his masterpiece on stage the painting is then brought over to a festival pop-up tent and you could get the opportunity to purchase the piece you just saw created onstage! Talk about a cool conversation piece to have in your house!

Another awesome visual art component of the festival is the chalk art! Every day chalk artists come to Epcot and created both 2-D and even 3-D masterpieces on the ground using chalk! This is so cool because once again not only do you get to admire the finished product but you also get to enjoy watching the progress of the artist creating their work! We enjoyed seeing the artist starting their work in the beginning of the day and then checking back later on to see the end result! My personal favorite was the 3-dimensional chalk art! It blows me away how they create these pieces that actually look so realistic and like you can reach out and touch them! These also make for some very fun photo-ops!

Another great part of the art happening around you is that there are opportunities for you to get hands on and make art as well! I loved the Expression Section: A Paint by Number Mural! With this experience, you received a paintbrush and a cup of paint with a number on it. You are then assigned so many squares that you get to paint that has your corresponding number. It is so cool to be a part of something so big! After you paint your squares and hand in your paint a cast member will present you with a postcard that shows what the end mural will look like so you can see what you are helping contribute to! This makes a great keepsake to bring home from your trip!

These were just a few of the reasons I loved the Epcot International Festival of the Arts! This year’s event runs through February 25th 2019. I am already dreaming of next year’s festival! I think Festival of the Arts may now hold a top spot as one of my favorite events that Epcot puts on, it has everything, food, entertainment and tons of creative energy everywhere you turn! Three New Ships Joining the Disney Cruise Line Fleet!

We have known for a while now that Disney Cruise Line was expanding their fleet! A while back Disney officials made the announcement that not one, not two, but THREE new ships would be joining the impressive lineup of ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet! The Three new ships will be joining the Disney Cruise Line family alongside the four ships Disney currently has, the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Disney has taken cruising to the next level in the cruise industry.  Anyone I have spoken to that has been on many cruises with other cruise lines and then takes a Disney cruise all say the same thing which is “once you go on a Disney Cruise you will never want to go back to other cruise lines”.  Disney knows how to spoil you!  The rooms are larger and very elegant, the food and restaurants are wonderful, the entertainment is fantastic and the Disney staff is as always, the best of the best.  These ships have something for everyone.  Disney knows how to make a family vacation perfect with things to do for all age levels but Disney equally knows how to make a romantic couples cruise where you will not even know that there are children around having areas for adults only to dine, relax and be entertained.

Top Five Reasons to Cruise from New York City Aboard the Disney Magic This Fall

Now we can look forward to more of this Disney cruise magic coming in the near future.  Officials at Port Canaveral met this past week regarding the new fleet of Disney cruise ships which will be docking in Central Florida.  Port Canaveral will be getting some major upgrades to accommodate the three new ships by Disney.  The information we learned says the ships will roll out in 2021, 2022 and 2023.  Each of these ships will hold at least 1250 staterooms.  One of these ships will be 1,119 feet long which will make it Disney’s longest ship!!

Disney Cruise Line Wins Highest Honor in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards

As soon as we start hearing more updates on the progress of this new line of ships we will be sure to bring this information to you in future blogs.  Until then maybe it is time to begin planning your Disney cruise on one of their current ships.  Just contact a Kingdom Magic vacations travel planner to get started on making your Disney Cruise dreams come true!

Lunch at Ale & Compass – Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Walt Disney World

During my most recent trip to Walt Disney World my family and I experienced a Disney first for all of us! We dined at a restaurant we had never tried before, Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. We were all filled with so much anticipation to check out a brand new restaurant that none of us had been to yet! I am very excited to tell you that our experience here did not disappoint! I actually proclaimed that our lunch here at Ale & Compass was my favorite meal of that trip!

The menu features New England style comfort food including many classic seafood dishes! The restaurant’s decor is themed to be reminiscent of a cozy lighthouse. This table-service dining location perfectly fits into the overall atmosphere of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort!

For my entree I choose the the white clam flatbread! White flatbread pizzas are my favorite variation of flatbreads and I do love clams! However I have to say I was skeptical what the combination of the clams on top of the flatbread would be like. Curiosity got the best of me so I asked our waitress about the dish. She was wonderful and very knowledgable about the menu. She told us that the white clam flatbread was actually her favorite item on the menu! I knew I had to give it a try!

This meal was incredible! As I said before this ended up becoming my favorite meal of the vacation! I can’t wait to get back here again to this restaurant! Another great thing about Ale & Compass is it is located at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort which is in the Epcot Resort area. The resort can be accessed from Epcot through International Gateway the park’s side entrance! From Epcot’s International Gateway you are just a short walk or boat ride away from the Yacht Club! I would definitely recommend making a reservation here during a day at Epcot. This would be a great way to have a short mid-day break from the park and relax with a nice meal before hitting the theme parks again in the evening!

I filmed my experience checking out this restaurant for the first time. You can watch the video on our YouTube channel:

How I celebrated New Year’s Eve at Walt Disney World! Fireworks Boat Cruise from Disney’s Grand Floridian!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas filled with peace and joy! Even though Christmas is over for the year that doesn’t mean the holiday festivities are slowing down anytime soon! Now we are counting down to New Year’s! Last year I spent New Year’s Eve at the Walt Disney World Resort and the experience became my favorite New Years to date! There are many wonderful ways to ring in the New Year at Disney! I wanted to share with you my evening last year and what my experience was like!

I enjoyed a fireworks boat cruise that set out from Disney’s Grand Floridian resort and Spa. We got to dock in the middle of Seven Seas lagoon and have one of the best spots in the house for the Magic Kingdom fireworks!

We arrived to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort early for our dinner reservation at Grand Floridian Café. It was my very first time dining at the restaurant and now this dining location is on the top of my list for my favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World! A great meal is always a must for any New Year’s Eve celebration!

Then we made our way to the Grand Floridian’s marina. Included in the fireworks boat cruise for the New Year’s celebration was a private dessert party only for those groups taking fireworks cruises that evening! They had a roped off section just out front of the marina near Gasparilla Island Grill. They had such a nice spread for us of delicious desserts, soft drinks, coffee and alcoholic drinks for those in the party over 21. Disney also provided all of us with festive gear including noise makers, party hats and more!

After a wonderful dessert party, it was soon time for the fun to begin! We meet our very own boat captain who escorted out party to our private pontoon boat. We set out for a tour around all of Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. The voyage was very relaxing and beautiful. Our captain was very knowledgeable and told Disney history and facts about the property throughout our voyage.

As midnight approached we then got our spot and docked on the middle of Seven Seas Lagoon to enjoy a wonderful viewing of the New Year’s Eve fireworks from the Magic Kingdom! My favorite part is the grand finale where the Disney characters countdown from 10 until we reach the stroke of midnight! Fireworks in the shapes of numbers 10 through 1 explode in the sky! It is truly incredible! Once the new year is here the night sky is illuminated with tons of fireworks from every direction! It will take your breath away. Your boat captain will then provide a champagne toast for all those in the party old enough to enjoy it.

Top 5 Favorite Christmas Decorations at Walt Disney World!

Christmas is just around the corner! I can’t believe how fast this season has flown by! I am feeling so fortunate to have experienced the magic of the holidays at the most magical place on Earth this year, Walt Disney World! During my visit to Disney last month I made sure to check out all of my favorite Christmas displays and festivities across Disney property! What I love about the holidays in Walt Disney world is that there is SO MUCH to discover! Every inch of the park is decked out and in such a unique and creative way! Disney doesn’t just put up a generic tree and garland in a gift shop. Oh no! Quite the contrary they theme every decoration specifically to the restaurant, shop or resort that it is in! For example, the ice cream shop on Main Street has garland and trees featuring ice cream cone ornaments! Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa all their decorations have a Victorian style to them to perfectly compliment the theme of resort itself!

9 Must-Do’s For Fall Visits to Walt Disney World Resort

There truly is so much to see when it comes to the decorations around Walt Disney World! I recommend truly taking your time going through the parks this time of year. Be sure to stop and truly appreciate the details of the holiday decorations. There is so much to discover! Today I would like to share with you my top 5 favorite Disney World Christmas displays that are more hidden gem displays! I am leaving out the well-known park icon trees and big centerpiece decorations and going to countdown my favorite decorations that are a bit more obscure! These displays both big and small are something that I look forward to seeing year after year!

#5 Mickey Wreaths

Christmas wreaths in the shape of Mickey Mouse adorned every lamppost down main Street USA! This decoration is a Disney classic! I love it for its simplicity. It is very traditional and from a distance you may not even notice it is a Mickey, but as you begin to stroll down Main Street towards the castle you can’t miss this little touch of magic!

#4 Poinsettia Trees

I have always loved poinsettias! I think they are so beautiful and I always know the Christmas season has begun once I start seeing those festive flowers! Disney uses gorgeous poinsettias in many of their holiday displays. By far my favorite creation Disney produces using poinsettias is their poinsettia trees! Using a towering framework in a rounded tree shape Disney florists will cover every inch of the framework with poinsettias! These poinsettia trees are spectacular and make an amazing backdrop for a family Christmas photo! Poinsettia trees can be seen in multiple places across Walt Disney World property! There are always some lining the walkway between Future World and World Showcase in Epcot as well as poinsettia trees in the entrance hub of Magic Kingdom. Pictured here you will see a poinsettia tree on the grounds of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

#3 Rockette-Style Christmas Ornaments

A display that I get so excited to see every year can be found in a storefront in Hollywood Studios! Disney is known for creating incredible window displays in many of their shopfronts and this particular display at Hollywood Studios can’t be missed! Larger than life Minnie Mouse Christmas ornaments are forming a Rockette kick-line! This display is so adorable and fun! It definitely fits into the glitz and glamour of Hollywood Studios!

#2 Echo Lake Decorations

A few years ago, Hollywood Studios icon tree moved from out-front of the park to inside the park to the center of Echo Lake. I know I said in this countdown, main centerpieces such as icon trees don’t count and that is still true. The decorations I am referring to in echo lake are the smaller accent pieces that compliment the area around the icon tree’s new location! The park’s tree sits on an island in the middle of the lake. In the water surrounding the island you will find one of my favorite Christmas decorations across all of Walt Disney World… floating Christmas ornaments! These floating baubles are beautiful all day long but at night they become a real showstopper and actually light up! These lighted baubles illuminate the water around them and create such a cool effect! I think this was the area of the park I spent the most time in just admiring the decorations and taking tons of photos!

#1 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House

My top spot on my list goes to a hidden gem that I enjoy seeing year after year, the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House!  This is not your normal gingerbread house! This pastry masterpiece is life-size! The inside of the gingerbread house is an actual working store where you can purchase gingerbread treats and other festive snacks and goodies! This year the Grand Floridian Gingerbread house is celebrating its 20th annual year! I highly recommend making the trip over to Disney’s Grand Floridian resort and spa to see this one of a kind creation. From the Magic Kingdom park you can easily commute to Disney’s Grand Floridian via a boat or monorail! Definitely make sure to take the time to check it out! You will be glad you did!

Christmas Decorations in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Walt Disney World Video!

This past summer on June 30th 2018, Toy Story Land officially opened at Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort! The new land’s opening had been long awaited for by fans and since the grand opening many visitors have been having a blast in Andy’s backyard! Here you can play interactive carnival games in Toy Story Mania, take a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers, race through the backyard on Slinky Dog Dash coaster, meet your favorite Toy Story characters and more! It is safe to say that this new land has become an instant hit with park goers! With this year being Toy Story Land’s first Christmas, many guests were curious what Disney was going to do regarding Christmas decorations in the land! With all the impressive design elements and details that can be seen throughout Toy Story Land year-round, everyone knew Disney was going to pull out all the stops when it came to Christmas decorations, and they did!

The Holiday displays that can be seen throughout Toy Story Land are so fun and truly tell a story! There is everything from large displays such as the giant sugar cookie shaped like Ham to little details like reindeer antlers on Rex! Here are a few of my favorite Christmas decorations from Toy Story Land!

Decorations on the Character Figurines!

Disney really did think of every detail when it came to decorating Toy Story Land for Christmas! Many of the giant figures of the Toy Story characters that can be seen throughout the land have been adorned with festive attire. As soon as you enter the land you will notice that Woody is wearing a Christmas scarf! My favorite character addition is the reindeer antlers on Rex! What I love about this is the reindeer antlers give the impression they are cut out of cardboard and colored in with a crayon! Like so many things in Toy Story Land there are tons of references to everything being created by Andy himself as he was playing with his Toys! It is the things like this that remind us all of our own childhood and the games we loved to play and create!

Characters Outfits!

Not only do the figures get holiday touches but the real meet and greet characters that roam through Toy Story Land also get festive touches to their outfits! Woody and Jessie have Christmas vests, Buzz has a Santa hat on top his head and the Green Army Men are all wearing holiday scarfs!

Green Alien Baubles

Out front of the Alien Swirling Saucer attraction you will find a stacked display of three massive Christmas ornaments! 2 of which are decorated to look like the Little Green Aliens! There is an additional bauble like this that can be spotted near the rides exit!

Ham Sugar Cookie!

This display is my favorite of all the Toy Story Land decorations! The thing to remember with Toy Story Land is that we ourselves are shrunken down to the size of a toy, so everything is scaled to how toys would see! With that in mind this sugar cookie is gigantic! It is decorated with frosting to look like Ham wearing a Santa hat! What I think is so fun about this decoration and the reason it is my favorite is actually the detail behind the display. If you peak behind the cookie you will see that the Ham cookie is being held up by a Green Army Man! This is one of the many ways that the holiday pieces in Toy Story Land are not just decorative, but they also tell a story that ties into the land itself!

Ride Overlays

What is incredible about the Holiday enhancements in Toy Story Land is that Disney is not just adding decorations they are bringing additions to your entire experience in the land! This includes Christmas overlays on the attractions! On Alien Swirling Saucers, new Christmas soundtracks have been added as onboard ride songs and will play at random in the rotation of music that guest can experience during their ride! When I rode the attraction with my family we did not get one of the holiday songs. However, we did get to see one of the holiday sets as we were waiting in line. It is very adorable! The lighting effects during these sequences are also red and green to go along with the holiday music! The Slinky Dog Dash Coaster also has some Holiday themed audio bits that can be heard as you ride the attraction!

I was so impressed with all the enhancements that Disney made in Toy Story Land during this Christmas season! I filmed my experience getting to see all of the holiday decorations and overlays for the first time! You can watch my experience in our new YouTube video!

NEW Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill Now Open at Disney Springs! Walt Disney World

I love Disney Springs for all of the wonderful, shopping, dining and entertainment offerings that call Disney Springs home! There is a huge selection of stores and eateries to choose from, giving you endless options for a fun day or night out! And now I am excited to share with you that the list of places to check out at Disney Springs just got even longer! This past week Disney Springs welcomed Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill to their lineup of amazing restaurants!

Chef Wolfgang Puck has a name well known around Disney Springs! Chef Wolfgang Puck’s Counter Service location, Wolfgang Puck Express, located in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs has remained consistently open. In addition to his success at this popular quick-service location, the chef has had other Disney Spring’s eateries! If you visited Disney Springs a few years back or even when the area was known as Downtown Disney, then you may remember his previous restaurant that was located over on the West Side, Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe and Dining Room. Also on the West Side the famous chef also previously had a quick-service location which also closed in August 2017. (Fun Fact: The former location of Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe will soon be home to Jaleo by Chef José Andrés.)

Now we are very excited that Wolfgang Puck has a brand-new restaurant in a new location in the Town Center section of Disney Springs, Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill! Here the celebrity chef will be serving up his signature California cuisine with a new twist!

The restaurant is located in the Town Center of Disney Springs. You can find it in between the Town Center indoor shopping complex and the Coca-Cola Store. It is directly across from Guy Ferrari’s Chicken Guy. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill has a much different atmosphere then the previous Wolfgang Puck Café. When you enter the new restaurant you immediately pick up on the very modern, fresh vibe that this new location has! It is very sleek and gives the Wolfgang Puck name a whole new identity.

Once inside Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill you will notice accents of red contrast against a pallet of neutral tones. There is a wide array of different seating arrangements including a space to host large party sizes! In addition to the crisp and clean colors, there are plenty of details that add visual appeal to the restaurant, from exposed wood beams to intricate lighting pieces. The location features many large windows giving the space a very bright and open feel. On the walls of the restaurant you can find many black and white portraits that bring a very personal touch into the space! Some of the black and white art is of fresh produce used to highlight the fresh ingredients you will find in your dishes.

All of these touches are great however, the true focal point of the restaurant is the on-stage kitchen where all of the culinary artistry is taking place! When you enter the restaurant to your left-hand side the first thing you are greeted by is the pizza kitchen! Chef Wolfgang Puck is known for his gourmet pizzas, so this is an appropriate welcome to the restaurant! Located in the back of the restaurant you will find the main open kitchen where all of the other wonderful dishes are coming to life!

Now here comes the part that I personally am most excited for, there’s the Gelato Bar! This Gelato bar is connected with the bakery area. You can find it to your right as you enter Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill! Not dining in at the restaurant but in the mode for dessert? Then good news, Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill has you covered! You will also be able to get this gelato from the restaurant’s walk-up window! I will definitely be checking out this gelato bar on my next visit to Disney Springs!

So now let’s talk about the restaurant’s food! Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill menu has received a very fresh makeover when compared to the chef’s previous dining location, while still retaining some well-loved classics. This menu of “California cuisine,” offers a wide selection of options. Everyone in your party is sure to find something they will enjoy!

I will definitely be making a dining reservation to check out Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill on my next vacation to Walt Disney World this February! Looking at their menu I am looking forward to trying either the Basil and Shrimp Pizza or the Sea Bass! Be sure to check out this great new restaurant yourself next time you are in Disney Springs! Dinner at Cinderella Royal Table at Magic Kingdom – Walt Disney World

Dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table is an experience you will never forget! This restaurant is actually located inside of Cinderella’s Castle inside of the Magic Kingdom Park! Not only during your meal will you enjoy the atmosphere of dining inside of Walt Disney World’s most recognizable icon but this meal is a character dining experience! During your time in the restaurant you will meet many Disney princesses! Exploring the castle, meeting royalty and enjoying a delicious meal all combine for an unforgettable experience!

I dined at Cinderella’s Royal Table for the first time for dinner during my most recent Disney World Vacation! Through a little Disney Magic we were able to grab this coveted reservation at the last minute! This was something we all always wanted to do so we were filled with excitement!

Once we checked in at the downstairs podium located on the backside of the castle we were soon escorted inside the castle were we got to meet Cinderella herself as our first princess of the night. We got the chance to chat with Cinderella and then take a family photo with her! The other princesses in attendance will vary from day to day so it is a surprise who you will get to meet but Cinderella is always a guarantee. It is her castle of course! After meeting Cinderella we got to sit in the grand foyer as we waited for them to call our party’s name. As we waited we got to take in the details of the beautiful castle! Everywhere you look the architectural details are regal and elegant! Of course there are magical touches as well such as Cinderella’s mice friends Jaq and Gus peaking down from the rafters!

Soon the chimes rang and our party name was announced. We were then escorted upstairs to the dining room! It is absolutely breathtaking! You truly feel like royalty! The menu is a prefix, you get to select an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert. For my appetizer I choose the Castle Salad, with Citrus-marinated Buffalo Mozzarella, Heirloom Tomatoes, Mixed Greens, Parmesan Crisps, and Balsamic Reduction! It honestly was one of my favorite salads I’ve ever had! For my entree I picked the Beef and Shrimp, delicious Beef Tenderloin and Buttered Shrimp, Fingerling Potatoes with Nueske’s Bacon and Blue Cheese, Summer Vegetables, and a Shallot-Herb Compound Butter. For dessert I choose the Clock Strikes Twelves, a Dark Chocolate Mousse with a Dark Chocolate Ganache served with a Raspberry Coulis! We all agreed this was the best dessert!

Soon the princesses began arriving! After each princess was announced they made their way around to each table. This is a great way to meet a lot of characters at once without having to wait in line! The characters come to you and you get more time to chat with them and also the opportunity to take pictures! If meeting characters is an important part of your vacation, character meals are a great way to guarantee seeing lots of characters!

We were first visited by my personal favorite Princess Ariel! Followed by Sleeping Beauty herself, Princess Aurora. Next we got to chat with Jasmine and then Snow White! Another very special part of our meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table is the Wishing Star Ceremony! When you are seated at your table everyone receives a wishing star. Princesses receive a wand and Princes are given a sword. During the wishing ceremony you are instructed to hold your wand or sword over your wishing Star and make a special wish! When you open your eyes the ceiling is twinkling with pixie dust! It is a magical Disney moment!

This is such a popular and sought after dining reservation, you will want to try to secure this restaurant 180 days out from your vacation, as soon as you are able to begin making your dining reservations.

Disney to Announce ‘Star Wars’ Theme Park Plans Soon

Back in June 2013, Disney revealed that its then newly-acquired Star Wars franchise would be integrated into the company’s theme parks around the world. CEO Bob Iger teased in December that the theme park rides will be based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its subsequent sequels and spinoffs.

Bob Iger recently told Wall Street analysts that the company is deep into development with their Star Wars theme park plans, with a formal announcement coming “later in 2015.”

“Fairly soon, I’m sure we’ll be ready to go public with some specifics. But it’s safe to say that you’ll see a lot more Star Wars at Disney and at Disney parks in the near future.” – Bob Iger

While the plans will be announced later this year, Bob Iger added that this ambitious endeavor will take a long time to get off the ground.

“(There is) a fair amount of design and development (taking place by the company’s Imagineers) to greatly increase Star Wars presence in multiple locations around the world. The plans are ambitious, so it’s going to take some time for them to be built and opened.” – Bob Iger

While the Disney CEO didn’t say exactly when these Star Wars theme park plans will be unveiled, it’s possible that the announcement may be made during Star Wars Celebration in April, or Disney’s annual D23 Convention in August, both of which will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center. It’s possible the announcement could also be made on Star Wars Day, May 4, but we should learn more specific details about Disney’s Star Wars theme park plans well before Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18.
