Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, to Open July 2019 along with 2 new Disney Restaurants!

Disney’s Coronado Springs resort is a popular Disney World Resort Hotel choice for both Convention guests and vacationers alike! This Disney Moderate Resort offers luxurious amenities and is themed with Spanish influences! The resort is themed to transport guests to the shore of Lago Dorado. The resort pulls design inspiration from the influence of the great Spanish explorers, artists, writers and architects. Capturing that same adventurous spirit in the resort’s details, Disney Coronado Springs will make you feel like you are on a tropical vacation within your vacation!

Soon there will be even more to love at Disney’s Coronado Springs! Soon the resort will welcome the addition of a new tower, as well as a new full service dining location! Along with the addition the resort will also receive a complete remodel of the current resort rooms! With the changes, Coronado Springs has now moved to the top of Disney World’s Moderate resort price category range. This means that out of all the Disney World Moderate resorts this one is now the closest to a Deluxe resort, making it a great option for someone looking for more luxury but wanting to stay in a budget.

A while back Disney shared artist renderings of Coronado Springs exciting expansion! The expansion project is currently underway at the resort! This week, the Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman with Disney Parks, Bob Chapek revealed more exciting details about the reimagining! The first detail being the name of the new 15-story tower that will soon become the centerpiece of the resort. The tower will be called the Gran Destino Tower.

The Gran Destino Tower, will be complete in July of 2019! This summer! The Gran Destino Tower will become the new main entrance for guests as they visit the resort. This new tower will bring the addition of 545 new guest rooms, including 50 suites to the Coronado Springs! The tower will feature a beautiful two-story lobby! I personally am most excited for the themed table-service restaurant that will be on the top floor of Gran Destino Tower!

The restaurant will be home to delicious food and incredible views of the Walt Disney World Resort property! One of my favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World is the California Grill which sit on the top floor of Disney Contemporary Resort. The California Grill not only has amazing food but the views from the restaurant are absolutely perfect! You can see directly over to the Magic Kingdom and you can enjoy the best spot in the house to have a birds-eye view of the fireworks! From the description of this new restaurant that will sit high atop the Gran Destino Tower, I am very much reminded of California Grill! This has me very excited to check this place out as soon as it opens. I have a feeling the views will be breathtaking! This will give a birds-eye view of a whole new area of Disney property. Coronado Springs is close to Epcot so I have a feeling this new dining location will serve as a great spot to watch the new nighttime show that will be coming to Epcot in 2019!

In addition to the restaurant on the top floor of the Gran Destino Tower, a second new restaurant is planned to open at the resort as well! This restaurant will sit on an island in the middle of the resort’s 14-acre lake, Lago Dorado, with new walkways stretching across the water, making it convenient to access no matter where guests are staying at the resort. A new and fresh color palette will bring the entire resort experience together and blend the new and the newly reimagined! At the reimagined Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort guests will discover a blend of both classic Spanish influences along with imaginative Disney touches and modern comforts!

Bookings are now available for the Gran Destino Tower for stays beginning in July of 2019! Contact your Kingdom Magic Vacations Travel Planner today to book your next vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort or to whatever destination you are dreaming of next!

Staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa! Walt Disney World Resort

Last month I got to have a brand-new Disney experience that I had dreamed about for years! I stayed at Disney’s flagship resort the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa! I have always been infatuated with the Grand Floridian and have enjoyed visiting the resort for years to simply walk the grounds or dine at one of their many wonderful restaurants. Even prior to actually getting to stay here myself, I would already say that the Grand Floridian was my favorite Disney Resort just because I enjoyed being there so much when visiting. So the dream of being able to actually stay here as a resort guest had been on my Disney list forever! Well my dream came true last month when I checked into Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa for my very first time!

I knew that our stay was going to be incredible, but this resort stay exceed my expectations! There truly is magic in the air at the Grand Floridian! The overall feeling of relaxation and luxury that comes over you while there is a feeling like no other! I thought I knew the Grand Floridian so well from years of always just popping over for a walk around, but staying here I discovered so many little nuances that made the experience brand new to me! I had so many stand out moments and favorite things from my time at the Grand Floridian. Things that set this deluxe resort apart from the rest and make staying here a truly magical experience. The amenities and accommodations allow you to make the most out of your vacation! Here is my list of favorite things from my stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa!

Location, Location, Location!

The Grand Floridian is located on the monorail loop in the Magic Kingdom Resort area! You are literally footsteps away from the Magic Kingdom Park. From the hotel, you can see Cinderella’s Castle as well as many other icons from the Magic Kingdom skyline. Talk about a great place to watch the fireworks! You are so close you can even hear the sounds coming from the Magic Kingdom! Every once and a while from our room we could hear the gentle whistle of the Walt Disney World Railroad train! It is all these details of the Magic Kingdom that make you feel like you are still inside the magic of the park even when you have left for the day! This for me was everything!

The Views!

Wherever your room is located you are sure to have one priceless view! Rooms at the Grand Floridian overlook the Magic Kingdom Park, Seven Seas Lagoon, the gorgeous resort pools or the peaceful resort gardens. All of the rooms have balconies allowing you to soak in your breathtaking view. I absolutely loved the view from our room’s balcony! We had a lagoon view that looked out over seven seas lagoon. We could see the ferry boats coming and going from the transportation and ticket center and watch the monorails go around and around! I spent so much time out there taking it all in that I actually learned the monorail schedule! I could tell you exactly what colored monorail would appear where and when! I was one proud Disney fan! Our room also had a great view of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and a beautiful direct view of Disney’s Wedding Pavilion! There was always some exciting action to watch! Once again even though you are back in your room you still are right in the middle of the Disney magic! There is no better feeling!

Proximity to Magic Kingdom

Staying at the Grand Floridian you are a stones-throw from the Magic Kingdom Park, you might as well say you and Cinderella are next-door neighbors. Not only is this awesome for the spectacular views but your commute to the Magic Kingdom park takes mere minutes! You can step aboard a monorail right from the 2nd floor of the Grand Floridian lobby or cruise right over to the park by boat! Until staying here myself I had no idea just how wonderful this convenience was! All other hotel guests not in the Magic Kingdom Resort area have to use bus transportation to get to Magic Kingdom or if traveling by car have to park at the ticket and transportation center and then take the monorail or ferry boat from that point. Due to this Magic Kingdom has always been a park that you need to allow yourself time to get to. Staying at the Grand Floridian the park is literally in your backyard, making the commute so easy! We got to Magic Kingdom the earliest I had ever been to the park. We just woke up and were there in minutes! Being able to so easily get to the park earlier, we were able to maximize our time and make the most out of our day! I had never seen the park so empty! Early morning is the best time to be in Magic Kingdom to beat the crowds. Due to the lower crowd level we were able to walk right on to many popular attractions!

Taking Breaks Mid-Day

With being so close to the park you are also able to get back to the Grand Floridian very quickly! This is wonderful when you are tired after an action-packed day of fun in the park! It is also wonderful when you may want to take a break mid-day and go back to the resort to rest and enjoy the amenities such as the amazing pools. Since other resorts are farther away and most require bus transportation, it can eat up a lot more of your time if you wanted to go back to your resort mid-day. The convenience of close proximity to the park that the Grand Floridian gives you can add a whole other layer to your vacation.

The Pools

Speaking of relaxing by the pool, one of my favorite amenities at the Grand was getting to take advantage of their luxurious pools! There is a large pool called the Beach Pool, complete with a water fall and even a water slide. Next to this main pool you will find a fun splash play area for kids themed to the Mad Hatter. Then there was our favorite pool the Courtyard pool. This pool is a zero-entry leisure pool. We loved grabbing a drink from the pool bar and laying in the shallow-end! As we laid there with our drinks a complete feeling of peace and happiness rushed over me as I looked around at the gorgeous architecture of the Grand Floridian buildings and the lush courtyards and landscaping, all while I could still hear those amazing sounds coming from the Magic Kingdom! Absolute bliss!

Transportation to Epcot

Not only is your commute to Magic Kingdom practically non-existent but you also have a very fun and easy commute to Epcot! All you have to do to get to Epcot is hop on the monorail straight from the Grand Floridian to the Ticket and Transportation Center. From there you can transfer monorails and hop on the direct line to Epcot! It is so easy, fast and also fun! Something about monorail transportation is just more exciting than any other form of transportation! Epcot is my boyfriend and I’s favorite park so we loved being able to so quickly run over to Epcot even just for an afternoon!

Dining

The Grand Floridian has the best restaurants to fit whatever you are looking for! Everything from quick service and casual dining to signature dining and even a 5-diamond restaurant! A personal favorite for me is Grand Floridian Café, located just off the main lobby the atmosphere is relaxing and the food is outstanding! I highly recommend the Café sandwich! I get it every time I go, even though I try to convince myself to try something new I love this sandwich too much! A place I found a whole new appreciation for this trip is Grand Floridian’s quick service location, Gasparilla Island Grill. The food here is a step above any other quick service location. They actually deliver some entree items to your table after you place your order at the register. The menu has a wide select of delicious offering for breakfast lunch and dinner. You can also find pastries, snacks and grab-and-go items here as well. Something I loved was that they have a full-service Joffrey’s Coffee shop inside of Gasparilla’s! We loved getting frozen coffee to start the morning! Another amazing convenience is that Gasparilla’s is open 24 HOURS A DAY! So whatever time you get in from the parks or if you find yourself wanting a late night snack you can count on Gasparilla’s!

These are a few of the many reasons I fell in love with the Grand Floridian even more after staying here! I felt like a princess living in a castle! This is something you have to experience! When Disney releases discounts the savings percentage is always greater on the deluxe resorts such as the grand Floridian and we have some incredible promotions going on right now to make your travel dreams a reality! How To Experience The Holidays at Walt Disney World

Every Disney fan should visit the parks at least once during the holiday season. Between the stunning decorations, elaborate shows and one-of-a-kind special events, Walt Disney World is even more magical than usual in November and December.

How To Experience The Holidays at Walt Disney World

Look for life-sized houses made of gingerbread, towering Christmas trees topped with ornaments the size of basketballs, and meet the man of the season, Santa himself when you visit in December.

How To Experience The Holidays at Walt Disney World

Look for your favorite Disney characters dressed up their own festive holiday gear, and snag an autograph or holiday photo with Mickey, Minnie and all their friends. If you have the whole family together for Christmas in Walt Disney World, this is a great time to have a family portrait taken by a Photopass photographer.

Earlier in the December is better to enjoy the holiday decorations and festive atmosphere without the crowds. But the closer you get to Christmas, the more crowded the resorts and theme parks will be. If you do go during a peak time, use every option you have to reduce the time you spend waiting in line, including Fastpasses, Rider Switch passes, and single rider lines.

How To Experience The Holidays at Walt Disney World

Some Walt Disney World Holiday Tips

  • Take advantage of the longer holiday hours to see everything you want to when you visit the Disney theme parks.
  • If you are traveling with a baby or toddler, look for quiet spots for nap time on the go.
  • If restaurants are crowded at lunch or dinnertime, switch your meal times to more “off” hours, and grab one of Disney’s best snack offerings while you wait.
  • Disney resort pools are heated, but it may be too cold to swim in December.
  • Allow extra time to get from place to place if you are relying on the Disney transportation system during the busy holiday period.

Let your Kingdom Magic Vacations Travel Planner make dining reservations well in advance. The closer your vacation dates are to Christmas week, the harder it will be to secure a table at a restaurant without a reservation.

We love Walt Disney World during the holidays, and we hope that these tips will help your vacation be filled with magic and the spirit of the season!

Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa Becomes the First Resort in Hawai‘i to Receives Special Environmental Certification

Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa has a strong focus on their island culture, which includes a responsibility to preserve and respect their `aina (land). That’s why Disney is proud to announce that Aulani recently became the first resort in Hawai‘i to obtain LEED Silver certification through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for implementing environmentally friendly construction practices and building systems.

Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa Becomes the First Resort in Hawai‘i to Obtain LEED Silver Certification

According to the USGBC website, LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system that provides independent, third-party verification that a building project meets the highest green building and performance measures. To obtain LEED certification, buildings must pass a rigorous checklist of sustainability points that include water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and awareness and education. LEED certification is also about being stewards of the environment with sensitivity to the impacts on our natural world.

Some of the environmental initiatives in place that allowed Aulani to receive this honor include the use of waste heat for hot water needs. For instance, many people don’t realize that Aulani harvests the heat emitted from the resort’s large chillers – which are used to keep the buildings cool – and diverts it to heat the whirlpool spas and swimming pools. Aulani also provide 34 electric car charging stations for plug-in vehicles within its parking structure.

Even the location of the resort was taken into consideration for LEED certification. Building on an already developed master planned resort location meant that no trees needed to be cleared and no undeveloped lands were disturbed for Aulani.

As Aulani looks toward the future, and looks forward to completing their enhancements in September, Aulani will always keep the environment in mind and look for ways to be even more respectful of the land. It is Aulani’s kuleana (responsibility and privilege).

Construction Milestones Continue at Shanghai Disney Resort

Recently, construction at Shanghai Disney Resort reached a major milestone as the first permanent concrete piles were installed for the Enchanted Storybook Castle.

This magical landmark stationed at the heart of Shanghai Disneyland will be a stunning centerpiece for the park and a true sight to behold. Designed to be the world’s tallest and largest Disney castle, it will be complete with a beautiful winding staircase leading to special experiences, and a host of entertainment, dining, and performance selections for guests to enjoy.

Progress is also underway on a project that will increase the overall energy efficiency of the resort’s operations. The Shanghai Disney Resort Management Company recently announced the adoption of a leading new environmental technology in the form of the Combined Cooling, Heating, Power Plant (CCHP). The CCHP is a grid-tied, gas-fired power plant, which co-generates cooling and heating via engine waste heat, and produces compressed air by self-generated electricity.

This key infrastructure project serves as just one example of Shanghai Disney Resort’s commitment to promoting sustainable technology and supporting local partners in its development.

On opening day, Shanghai Disney Resort will include Shanghai Disneyland, two themed hotels, a 46,000-square-meter (495,000 square feet) retail area, a dining and entertainment venue, recreational facilities, a lake and associated parking and transportation hubs.

Stay tuned for more exciting news on Shanghai Disney Resort!

It’s Heating Up Outside But Walt Disney World Pools are Always Cool

We all know that Walt Disney World has some of the most incredible theme parks in the world.  And we love the resorts and all the amazing places to eat.  But one of our favorite things to do after a long morning in the parks, is to go back to our Disney resort and spend some time relaxing at the pool.

Big Blue at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, one of the largest Disney has ever built for a resort, including an underwater sound system

Disney resorts feature some of the most unique and creative, not to mention cool and refreshing, pools in the world.  From the new Big Blue at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, one of the largest Disney has ever built for a resort, including an underwater sound system, to the Nanea Volcano Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Resort which features a volcano and 142 foot long water slide, they are all awe-inspiring.  And on a hot Summer day in Orlando, there is no better place to spend a few hours.

Alice In Wonderland”-themed kids’ water play area

We hear from clients that as much fun as the parks are, their kids love spending time in the many themed pools at Walt Disney World Resort.  And who can blame them?  At Disney’s Grand Floridian, they have the new Alice In Wonderland”-themed kids’ water play area offering the perfect blend of  ‘tea party’ and ‘pool party’, it makes me want to be a kid again!

Uzima Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

All of the Disney Resort pools have features for young and old alike, but my favorite is the Uzima Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.  It features 1,000-square-foot pool with an exciting water slide and gently sloping, zero-depth entry point, a children’s wading pool, and 2 whirlpool spas.  It’s the perfect way to relax and get a whole new perspective on what a Disney World vacation is.

But don’t just take my word for it, here’s Andrew and Rick from TravelwithRick.com to show us around some of the incredible pools of Walt Disney World Resort!  Stay cool everyone!

Even Hawiian Residents Love an Aulani Vacation

If you lived in Hawaii, where would you go on vacation?

Many island residents choose the “staycation” route, leaving home to enjoy a few days at one of Hawai`i’s many luxurious resorts. And, according to readers of Honolulu Magazine, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, is the “Best Hotel for a Staycation.”

according to readers of Honolulu Magazine, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, is the “Best Hotel for a Staycation.”

It’s a tribute to the family fun and amenities of Aulani: restaurants, Rainbow Reef snorkel lagoon, Laniwai Spa and the many experiences that are included at no additional cost: the pools and slides of Waikolohe Valley, Aunty’s Beach House kids club, and a wide range of live entertainment, including island musical performers and storytellers, visits with Disney characters, and the popular nighttime Starlit Hui.

The “Best” citation appears in the “Best of Honolulu” edition of Honolulu Magazine, designed “to help you live better in Honolulu.” An Aulani vacation – or “staycation” – combines the stories of Hawai`i with the magic of Disney for guests of all ages.

All six locations are now owned and managed by Disney so that means a whole new menu of relaxing and pampering services with a dash of Disney in décor and guest service. Treatment hours are from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and salon hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Zahanati Massage & Fitness Center, Disney’s BoardWalk Muscles & Bustles Health Club, Disney’s Coronado Springs La Vida Health Club and Casa de Belleza Salon, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Sturdy Branches Health Club, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort Olympiad Fitness Center. And remember the spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is now closed for a major renovation and is scheduled to reopen in summer as the brand new Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. (The fitness center will remain opened with limited hours.)

For the ultimate in well-being, there’s also the newly opened Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. This full-service spa opened its doors last month to feature 15 treatment rooms with services such as water therapy, sugar exfoliation body treatments, rejuvenating citrus facials and an extensive array of massages, spa manicures and pedicures.

Details Announced for Expanded Water Fun and Dining Options at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa

I told you a few weeks ago about the enhancements coming to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai`i. This morning, some additional details about the new water features and two new quick-service restaurants were unveiled by Joe Rohde, Walt Disney Imagineering Senior Vice President, who led the design work on Aulani.

enhancements coming to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa

New water features will include a themed family pool, extending literally to the very edge of the resort property and highlighted by a misty grotto from which relaxing swimmers may view the sunset. After dark, a magical starscape of glimmering lights will appear on the grotto ceiling and the floor of the pool.

Near the family pool will be a new kids’ splash zone, designed to resemble tidal pools with some playful surprises for youngsters, including rainbow water jets, images of tidal pool creatures on the pool floors, and hidden Menehune – the legendary little people of the islands – who may be spotted through chinks in the rocks. Additional deck space, chairs, chaises and cabanas will surround these new water features.

Also coming to Aulani will be two new food service locations. One of these, located adjacent to the new water play area, will serve continental breakfast and offer a lunch and dinner menu with a selection of sandwiches, salads and snacks that can be enjoyed in the adjoining outdoor patio, which provides a beautiful ocean view. A second quick-service eatery will be located beachside, offering grab-and-go snacks and easy access for beachgoers.

Work on these enhancements will begin in September and conclude in mid-2013, coinciding with the final build-out of the resort. Along with the water play and dining additions, the expansion will provide a new, larger lawn location for events, weddings and the guest-favorite nighttime Starlit Hui show. There will also be additional merchandise space – to provide guests with a greater variety of Aulani products, apparel and memories – and a protective awning over the patio of  Makahiki restaurant, home of “Aunty’s Breakfast Celebration,” featuring breakfast with Disney characters.
