5 Ways To Get The Family Excited About Your Disney Trip

You have made the decision to take the family on a trip to Walt Disney World. This trip may be many months away but there are things you can do while you wait for your magical trip to begin that will get the excitement started.  In my family the trip planning has become a special part of the whole trip experience.  There is so much fun in the anticipation of the upcoming trip.  Let me highlight five ways to get everyone in the family excited for the trip and make the waiting half the fun!

1. Listen to Disney Music and Watch Disney Movies

Disney music and movies are so fun and entertaining for the whole family. It is a favorite pasttime for my family to listen to Disney music and watch our favorite Disney Movies. You can find some great music to listen to while driving around with your family.  It will make your drive time more fun and keep you excited waiting for your Disney trip. Check out your favorite streaming services for great Disney movies and music. It is sure to get everyone excited.

2. Check out YouTube

YouTube is a great resource for learning all about the Disney Parks. If you want to see what is going on at Disney, you are sure to find a great video out there. This is a great way to show your family all that Disney World has to offer by seeing what other people have experienced while there. You can find things on rides, shows, resorts dining and so much more. If you have young children that may be a little afraid of certain rides, watching a video about the rides can prepare them and help you decide which rides are best for your family. This can help you decide what is a priority and then when it is time you will be able to secure the Fastpasses that you will want.

3.  Dining Reservations

There are so many places to eat at Walt Disney World. From quick service to signature dining, there is something that everyone will enjoy.  Check out the Dining section of the My Disney Experience app and have the family go through the menus of the restaurants and get everyone involved in making the dining reservations. Maybe let each member of the family pick a special restaurant for each day of your trip. Don’t forget to check out all the Character meal choices if this is something your family would enjoy and pick out the ones that sound the best to all of you.

4.  Save Money

It’s no secret that a Disney World vacation can become expensive so the months leading up to the trip is a great time to start a trip fund for souvenirs or a special experience.  You can make a cute Disney jar to save your money.  Get everyone involved and get creative. If your children get an allowance they can put some money in the jar.  For birthdays and Christmas the kids can ask for Disney gift cards to add to the savings. Parents can add to it with extra change at the end of each day.  Its fun to see how much you can save and then split up the money for souvenirs or use it for a special experience like one of the character dining meals or renting a boat or taking a carriage ride. There are so many possibilities and it will be fun deciding what to do with your extra cash!

5. Make a Disney Count Down

I know it may seem like your trip is a long way off and it is fun to have a countdown.  This is especially good for younger kids that don’t understand the concept of time.  There are so many count down ideas. From making your own like a chain to purchasing something premade.  There are many sites with ideas and printables or shops that sell really unique count down items.

I hope you enjoyed these ideas and can incorporate them into your Disney trip planning.

Attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2019!

Last month while visiting Walt Disney World, I attended my first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for the 2019 season! Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a wonderful, festive event that is sure to put you in the Halloween spirit!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is an extra-ticketed event that takes place on select nights at the Magic Kingdom Park. The event features special Halloween stage shows, dance parties, rare character meet and greets, a special Halloween Parade, exclusive Halloween fireworks show, trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom, specialty treats and merchandise for purchase, and more!

My group and I had a wonderful time attending the party this year! Here’s my list of highlights from my own experience at the event!

Group Costume

At Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party guests can choose to come dressed in Halloween costumes if they want to! I had never dressed up myself when attending the party in the past but had always wanted to. The costumes are one of my favorite parts of the party. I love walking around the park and spotting other guests costumes! Everyone gets so into it and has such a great time. It is a wonderful environment to be apart of! This year I was so thrilled to get in on the fun of wearing a costume for myself! My group and I all dressed up as Star Wars characters. It truly did add another layer of fun to the evening! We met so many great people who stopped us to comment on our costumes and even take our picture!

New Fireworks

This year Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party saw the premiere of a brand new Halloween fireworks show! I was always a fan of the previous Halloween Party fireworks but this new show definitely topped it! The special effects used in the show were outstanding! My favorite part was the projections on the castle! There was one particular part that I loved where through projection mapping they made the castle look like a haunted mansion! It was incredible!

Live Actors in Pirates of the Caribbean

One of the many offerings during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party is attraction overlays. This is when Disney adds a bit of extra magic into a Disney ride. One of these attraction overlays takes place at Pirates of the Caribbean! When you ride this attraction during the Halloween Party you will spot real pirates on the actual ride! This overlay first premiered at last year’s Halloween Party and I am so happy that it has come back again. This year you will find even more live pirates throughout the ride!

Deep Space Mountain

Space Mountain is a Walt Disney World classic coaster! So many fans like myself know and love this ride! During Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Space Mountain becomes Deep Space Mountain! Another exciting attraction overlay! In Deep Space Mountain you can experience riding Space Mountain completely in the pitch black! This coaster is already dark but during the party there are absolutely no lights not even in the tunnels! It makes the experience even more thrilling!

Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade

Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade is an exclusive Halloween Parade that takes place during Halloween Party nights! This parade received several new updates this year. There is now a show segment that represents each land in the Magic Kingdom! I love this concept! My personal favorite addition to this parade is during the Haunted Mansion segment! The bride from the haunted Mansion has been added and she actually glides down the parade route! It is something you truly have to see in person!

Watch our new YouTube video to see some highlights from Mickey’s not so scary Halloween Party:

Walt Disney World Date Night Ideas – Part 2

In Part 1 of my Disney date night ideas I talked about things to do at Disney Springs and on the Magic Kingdom Resort monorail loop.  Today I am going to discuss the EPCOT area and Mini Golf for a little activity and adventure!

EPCOT

The EPCOT Park is a great date night park!  Adults usually love this park because of the World Showcase.  Taking a stroll around the World Showcase and exploring the 11 countries is always a great time.  The food and drinks from each country along with theming and shopping make this a fantastic place to take your special someone.  One of my favorite restaurants is Tepan Edo in the Japan Pavilion.  This is a hibachi style restaurant and the food and show are so much fun!

EPCOT Resorts

After your stroll around World Showcase take the International Gateway over to the EPCOT area resorts.  These resorts are the Boardwalk, Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club.  You will find great restaurants in each hotel along with many different Bars and Lounges to relax.  You will also pass the Ample Hills Creamery, all I can say is yummy!! You have to stop in for a sweet treat to top off your dinner.  If your looking for a little more activity than stop in the Atlantic Dance Hall for some great music and to dance the night away.

Monorail Date

Also know that you can get to EPCOT from the Magic Kingdom on the monorail.  Just take the monorail from Magic Kingdom to the Ticket and Transportation Center and transfer there to the EPCOT monorail.  This gives you the option of starting your date early and playing in the Magic Kingdom for the day and then having a wonderful dinner over in the EPCOT area.  What better way to spend the day together than to park hop!

Mini Golf

Another activity that many couples enjoy is mini golf and Disney has some of the best courses I have played on.  The theming is great at each.  There is the Winter/Summer course, which is located near the Blizzard Beach Water Park.  The winter course is themed to Christmas and Summer is very beachy.  Then across from the Swan and Dolphin hotel you will find the Fantasia Gardens with two courses both based on the movie Fantasia.  The one course is your traditional mini golf course and the other is based more on a professional golf course but in miniature scale.  This course emphasizes on skill versus chance.  You can actually walk here from the EPCOT resorts.  Just head toward the Swan and Dolphin and walk through their grounds and across the street you will find the mini golf courses.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about these date night ideas and it has gotten you excited to plan your next night out!  Check out our YouTube Channel to see the video on Part 2 of Disney date night ideas.

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival 2019 Update!

It’s that time of year again! The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is about to officially kick off its 2019 season NEXT MONTH! Just this past week park goers have already been spotting some of the festival booths popping up around World Showcase and Future World! A sure sign of just how close we are to the festival’s opening day!

This year the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival kicks off on August 29, 2019. Fun Fact: This happens to be the same day that Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens over at Hollywood Studios! This is going to be one very exciting day across all of Walt Disney World property!

The 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival runs this year from August 29 through to November 23, 2019. This is the longest run for the festival ever! This long stretch for the festival gives you a great window of opportunity to plan your visit to Walt Disney World to catch this amazing event!

This year the Food and Wine Festival will be home to more festival booths than ever before. Two of these booths are brand new for the 2019 season! The first new booth is The Alps, this booth will feature Swedish inspired food and beverage offerings. The second new both this year is the Appleseed Orchard. Here one will find many exciting food and drink items featuring apples. I am personal most excited to try the Caramel-Apple Popcorn!

In addition to experiencing an array of flavors from around the world at the various festival booth marketplaces, during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival you can also experience culinary demonstrations, hands-on activities, the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, specialty merchandise and more!

I am very excited to be attending the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival next month! Check out our new YouTube video to hear some of the highlights I am looking forward to experiencing this year!

Throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, you will find that the Disney PhotoPass service has a big presence! At all the prime most photogenic locations in the parks Disney PhotoPass Photographers can be found ready to capture pictures of guests! The Disney PhotoPass Service allows you to get everyone in your party in the picture by having a Disney trained photographer capture that perfect shot with a high-resolution Nixon DSLR camera. If you wanted to purchase each photo that you loved individually it would be an extreme up charge! Thankfully there is a much more economical package that will provide you an amazing value, Disney’s Memory Maker! Disney Memory Maker package gives you full access to the Disney PhotoPass service with UNLIMITED digital downloads! That’s right, unlimited! You can download all the photos you want for the entire duration of your Disney World Vacation! I love having the Memory Maker on all my Disney World Vacations and today I am excited to share with you a few of the reasons why Memory Maker is such a valuable add-on to your Disney Vacation package!

Unlimited Downloads

With Memory Maker, you have paid one flat rate and now you can get UNLIMITED PHOTO DOWNLOADS! You could literally spend the entire day doing nothing but taking pictures and you would be able to save them all! Your photos appear within minutes in your ‘My Disney Experience’ App and you can download them right to your phones camera roll with the click of a button! You can also access your account on a computer and download and even print your pictures that way!

Everyone in the Picture

How many times have you taken a photo with your family and always ended up missing one member of your group in the shot because they ended up being the one who had to take the picture?! With utilizing the Disney PhotoPass Service you are allowing the Disney Photographers to capture your family photos meaning the whole family can actually be in the shot!

Character Meet and Greet Photos

Disney PhotoPass Photographers are at all character meet and greet locations! The Disney Photographers do a great job of taking those super cute posed pictures as well as capturing some really awesome candid shots during your interactions with the characters!

Ride Photos

With Memory Maker, in addition to getting all your photos from in the parks and character meet and greets, you also get all of your ride photos included! These candid captures are so much fun and can sometimes be pretty hilarious!

Videos

Additionally, with all the great photos that you will be collecting on your ‘My Disney Experience’ account you will also find some videos! On select rides such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tower of Terror in addition to an on-ride photo the PhotoPass Service also creates an on-ride video! These are so cool! There are even some videos that are generated from your still photos that show some Disney characters dancing across the frame, or tinker bell flying overhead! These video downloads are all included with Memory Maker!

Magic Shots

Speaking of a little extra Disney Magic in your photos, the Disney PhotoPass Service will overlay Disney characters into your photos with ‘magic shots!’ Your Disney Photographer might even tell you how to pose or react to create these awesome pictures! Once again, these downloaded are all included with Memory Maker!

Edit Yourself

Another really fun thing you can do with your PhotoPass captures is actually make edits to the images yourself! Right in your My Disney Experience account, you can apply filters and even add special Disney stickers and boarders! Some of these graphics are even exclusive to the area of the park the image was captured in! For example, in Toy Story Land, any images captured here can have stickers of Toy Story characters added on! There are even boarders and graphics that relate to specific events such as the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival! You can even select boarders related to holidays! Image creating next year’s Christmas card using an adorable Disney holiday boarder!

Memory Maker is $169 when purchased in advance and $199 when purchased for use immediately. That’s why we recommend purchasing your Memory Maker before you leave for your trip so you can save the most money. Trust us as soon as you get to the parks you will be wishing you had this awesome feature. We feel that the Memory maker is an incredible value and very well worth the money. Think of it this way, you will blow through $169 so fast at Disney buying tee-shirts and random souvenirs. Your vacation photos are a souvenir that will truly last forever and your family will never outgrow!

Budget Friendly Meals at Walt Disney World

Disney outdoor dining at Liberty Inn

Well, you’ve finally saved up the money to take tour family on that Disney vacation that you’ve been promising. Now if you could just find a way to eat while you’re there everything would be perfect. That might be a slight exaggeration, but we all know that the price of amusement park dining can be outrageous if you don’t know where to look. These are a few of the places that can be found in Walt Disney World where you can have a nice meal with your family and still have enough to buy a few souvenirs.(I’ll save the prices of those for another story)

The Liberty Inn, located in Epcot’s World Showcase is a fast food style restaurant that offers typical all-American foods like barbecued pork and chicken, cheeseburgers, and hot dogs. There are also several vegetarian and kosher meals available along with various desserts. There is also a limited children’s menu. Most adult meals are under $15, and some diner’s plans are accepted.

A fast food meal may be all right for lunch, but after a long day at the park, you’ll probably be ready for a good, hearty meal. The Trails End Restaurant may be just what you’re looking for. For breakfast, lunch and dinner they offer a moderately priced buffet and at lunch you can also order from an a la carte menu. The dinner buffet offers hearty home cooked foods like, smoked pork ribs, fried chicken, pasta, fish, and pizza slices. There is also a sandwich and salad bar available, as well as the soup of the day.

The kids may enjoy a meal at the T-Rex Café, where there are many kid oriented activities, as well as a very nice children’s menu. If you go into the meteor room you can experience a meteor shower every few minutes, and there is a giant octopus above the bare area that actually moves. While this restaurant is a little more pricey than some, the experience might be worth a few extra dollars.

Candlelight Processional: Day 24 – 25 Days of Christmas
