Disneyland Attractions Just For Toddlers

There are so many attractions that are geared specifically towards young children that not only will your child have a great time, but you’ll get to see an old favorite through new eyes.

If you’re thinking of taking your kids to Disneyland and have a baby or toddler, don’t listen to people who will tell you not to take the younger child. There are so many attractions that are geared specifically towards young children that not only will your child have a great time, but you’ll get to see an old favorite through new eyes.

The Casey Jr. Circus Train Ride, located in Fantasyland, will be a big hit with the toddlers in your group. You ride in little wild animal cages while Casey chugs along saying “I think I can”, just as he did in the classic movie, Dumbo. As you ride along there are many miniature villages, and toddlers will have a great time matching the villages to the appropriate Disney character.

In Tomorrowland you can visit the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster ride and get his or her own laser gun that even a toddler can operate. The adults and older children can earn points by aiming at specific targets, but the younger kids just accumulate their points by waving the laser gun. Word has it that you should take your toddler on the ride so that there is someone that you have a chance of beating.

The Pirates of the Caribbean ride, which you can find in New Orleans Square, you can wear an eye patch and sing yo ho ho along with all the other pirates. Your child will probably want you to sing the song with them for the rest of the day, but a happy child is well worth the strange looks you may get.

On Main Street U.S.A. you can find The Baby Center where you can take a well-earned break while your child enjoys the toddler sized chairs and tables. There are coloring supplies to keep them busy, as well as changing tables, and baby supplies. After a little down time in this air conditioned facility, you and your child will be refreshed and ready to hit the park again.

Exploring Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park

One of these locations is Gaston’s Tavern in Belle’s Village, where Gaston has made a few appearances so far, no doubt enjoying all of this excitement and attention.

A centerpiece of the village, which appears right in front of Gaston’s Tavern, is a fountain of Gaston and his sidekick, LeFou. According to the storyline of this area, the statue was a gift to the village from Gaston himself.

When you visit, don’t miss the inscription on the dedication plaque, which suits Gaston perfectly. Here, you find out that this “gift” is actually titled “A Tribute to Gaston” and bears the following inscription: “An extremely generous gift to the humble people of my village, from me, Gaston.”

First Look at New Fantasyland Pins Coming to Walt Disney World Resort

First Look at New Fantasyland Pins Coming to Walt Disney World Resort

With the opening of New Fantasyland only a few months away, I’m beginning a series of articles to reveal merchandise we’ve created for this exciting area. I figured I’d start with Disney pins, which have been a part of major openings since the introduction of Disney Pin Trading in 1999. For New Fantasyland, the pin team created a variety of pins to collect, including open and limited edition pins, boxed sets, multi-pin sets, and some pins designed especially for Annual Passholders. Today, I’m highlighting just a handful of favorites.

New Fantasyland will officially open on December 6 at Magic Kingdom Park. On that day, we will release several limited edition pins that commemorate the grand openings of different experiences. The image above also shows the awesome opening day “I Was There” pin, featuring Belle.

collect all the pins in a particular mystery set

People have often asked me which pins they should collect. I recommend pins that have a special meaning to the collector. I also suggest mystery sets, as they are a collection with an ending. Once you collect all the pins in a particular mystery set, you can focus on a different collection.

We are releasing a few different mystery sets for New Fantasyland. One set is a limited release and will feature pins inspired by the “Beauty and the Beast” experiences. Another is a limited release “reveal / conceal” set with 10 known pins featuring images from New Fantasyland. This set will also have 10 mystery pins. Each box contains one pin you can see, while the other pin is a mystery. Also look for a similar “reveal/conceal” set for The Barnstormer.

 pins created for Storybook Circus

I like some of the pins created for Storybook Circus. The Dumbo-themed set contains one of my favorite images from the film – storks flying over Florida. Five of the eight Dumbo pins in this set will be sold individually, but the boxed set contains the complete collection. I was also happy to see Humphrey the Bear included in the five-pin character set (more Humphrey merchandise, please!).

Finally, to celebrate one of the largest expansions in Magic Kingdom Park’s history, we will have a super jumbo pin that will measure approximately six inches by five inches. Now that’s a pin!

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo Unveils New Attractions and Experiences at First D23 Expo

newdumbo300Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo detailed plans for future lands, attractions and adventures that will be delighting Disney guests for years to come, at the first D23 Expo. Most notable among the announcements were the confirmation of an all-new Star Tours attraction and the largest expansion in the history of Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort.

“Storytelling is the DNA of Disney dreams and we’re always exploring new ways to tell new stories in new places,” Rasulo told a crowd at the Anaheim Convention Center in California before taking them on a “behind-the-magic” tour of their favorite Disney destinations.

littlemermaid300Rasulo announced that a new 3-D version of the tremendously popular Star Tours attraction will debut at the Disneyland Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2011. Based on the iconic Lucasfilm “Star Wars” films, the attraction will include immersive new elements that will take guests to many familiar places in the “Star Wars” galaxy.

For Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Rasulo outlined plans for the largest expansion in the history of Magic Kingdom, vastly increasing the size of Fantasyland by 2013. Guests will soon be able to:

  • Visit their favorite Disney princess in her castle, cottage or chateau to share a dance with Cinderella; celebrate Sleeping Beauty’s birthday with the Good Fairies; or join Belle in an enchanting story performance in the Beast’s castle library.
  • “Be Our Guest” and dine in one of three enchanted rooms inside the Beast’s castle.
  • Fly with Dumbo high above brand new circus grounds, twice the size of the existing attraction with a new interactive, three-ring circus tent.
  • Journey under the sea with Ariel, the Little Mermaid, in her very own attraction – also opening at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim in 2011.
  • Meet Tinker Bell and her friends in the magical world of Pixie Hollow.

startours300Rasulo provided updates on the multi-year expansion of Disney’s California Adventure including the new World of Color attraction slated to open in the spring of 2010 and the addition of the 12-acre Cars Land scheduled to open in 2012 where guests will literally step into the town of Radiator Springs and its six acres of hand-carved rockwork.

Rasulo noted the progress of several other recently announced projects including the three new lands coming to Hong Kong Disneyland by 2014; the Disney Dream, the new ship being built by Disney Cruise Line; the many diverse itineraries being offered by Adventures by Disney that take guests on 19 unique, once-in-a-lifetime guided vacation experiences; and Disney’s first family destination resort on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

Rasulo’s keynote presentation was only part of the D23 EXPO experience. Guests were able to discover:

  • Never-before-seen models of upcoming Disney attractions.
  • Up close and personal visits with Lucky the Dinosaur and Wall-E.
  • A preview of the most advanced Audio-Animatronics figures ever created by Walt Disney Imagineering.
  • Displays showcasing cutting-edge effects technologies that are being developed for Disney attractions, shows and venues.
