Disney Cruise Line Unveils Ports and Itineraries for Early 2017

Disney has revealed that in early 2017 we will return to popular destinations in the Caribbean and Bahamas. Most cruises will feature a stop at Castaway Cay, our private island paradise reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests.

For the first part of the year, we’ll continue sailing from Port Canaveral and Miami, in addition to cruises from San Juan, Puerto Rico and Galveston, Texas. Bookings open to the public on October 8, 2015.

Port Canaveral

With three Disney ships in port and cruises spanning three, four and seven nights, you have a full menu of options from Port Canaveral in early 2017. The best part? Every sailing includes a day at Castaway Cay!

The Disney Fantasy will continue to sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages, while the Disney Dream continues on three- and four-night cruises to Nassau and Castaway Cay. Beginning January 29, the Disney Wonder will alternate similar three- and four-night itineraries.

Miami

To kick off 2017, the Disney Magic continues sailing from Miami with three-, four- and five-night voyages to the Bahamas, plus select five-night Western Caribbean cruises, through March 31.

Again, Castaway Cay awaits guests aboard every one of these Disney Magic sailings! Other Bahamian ports of call include Nassau and Key West, while a stop in Grand Cayman or Cozumel headlines the Western Caribbean itineraries.

San Juan and Galveston

From San Juan, the Disney Magic sets sail on four seven-night cruises to the Southern Caribbean. Departing April 9, 16, 23 and 30, this limited-time engagement includes calls on Barbados, St. Lucia, Martinique, Antigua and St. Kitts.

The Disney Wonder completes a season in Galveston with two seven-night Bahamian voyages to Key West, Castaway Cay and Nassau on January 6 and 13. From there, the ship embarks on a six-night journey to San Juan on January 20 with stops in Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Falmouth, Jamaica.

On January 26, a three-night cruise aboard the Disney Wonder takes guests from San Juan to Port Canaveral, just an hour away from Walt Disney World Resort – the perfect stop for a fairytale land-and-sea adventure.

MSC Divina Returns to Miami for Year-Round Sailings

The Divina, a ship custom-built for the North American market for MSC Cruises, will return to year-round sailing from Miami beginning fall 2015.

The redeployment brings the 3,500-passenger ship full circle. When it launched in November 2013, the glitzy ship was seen as the Italian line’s salvo into the competitive North American market. To that end, the line made a number of modifications to appeal to American tastes, including enhanced entertainment, a movie screen poolside, a sports bar featuring American pub grub, a more restrictive smoking policy and significant training for crew members.

But less than six months after Divina launched, the line decided to move the ship to the Mediterranean between May and October 2015. At the time, a spokesperson said the redeployment was meant to continue MSC’s strength in the Med.

So what’s changed in the past year? In March, MSC broadcast a new commitment to North America, announcing its first Seaside-class ship, debuting in December 2017, would be based in Miami year-round. The line is also investing millions of dollars into expanding and renovating Terminal 5 at the Port of Miami in anticipation of the new vessel.

New “Tangled: The Musical” Coming to Disney Cruise Line

In November 2015, the endearing characters and captivating music of the animated film “Tangled” will enchant audiences once again, this time as an original stage show spectacular at sea aboard the Disney Magic – the first time the beloved Disney tale has been adapted for the stage.

“Tangled: The Musical” will immerse guests in Rapunzel’s fairytale world through lavish production numbers and spellbinding music. Three new songs created exclusively for this show by Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and Grammy Award-winning lyricist Glenn Slater will bring the story to life onstage.

Featuring elaborate costumes, groundbreaking puppetry and stunning set designs, the show will stay true to the storyline from the hit film – with a few special twists to create a live staged production.

“Tangled: The Musical” complements the line-up of Disney Cruise Line-exclusive live entertainment performed every voyage aboard the Disney Magic, joining “Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story” and “Disney Dreams… An Enchanted Classic,” which will feature a new segment from the blockbuster animated hit “Frozen” beginning in summer 2015.

The new show will premiere during the Nov. 11, 2015 four-night Bahamian sailing aboard the Disney Magic, which will sail four-night Bahamas and five-night Western Caribbean cruises from Miami beginning Sept. 30, 2015 through the new year.

With the Carnival Breeze, Carnival Liberty and Carnival Freedom, Galveston will be home to three of the line’s ships, making it the biggest cruise line in the Texas port.

“Miami and Galveston are among our most popular points of embarkation and deploying our newest, most innovative ships to these homeports speaks volumes about our confidence in growing these markets,” said Christine Duffy, Carnival’s president.

The ship will also offer a combination of one-time voyages, including a five-day cruise departing Dec. 11 and seven-day voyages departing Dec. 17 and 24, 2016.

Prior to the start-up of year-round service from Miami, the Carnival Vista will operate a pair of voyages round-trip from New York beginning with a three-day cruise November 4-7, 2016, followed by an 11-day voyage departing Nov. 7, 2016, followed by a 11-day cruise from New York to Miami Nov. 18-29, 2016, with calls at Grand Turk, Bonaire, Aruba and St. Maarten.
