It Really Is Magic! – Guest Blog Post

The MagicBands are up and running at the Walt Disney World Resort and they are Incredible!

The MagicBands are up and running at the Walt Disney World Resort and they are Incredible!

It may look similar to the James Bond Spy watch from 1965, but, it is oh so much more. The MagicBands are an all-in-one device and is a part of the New My Magic+

When you book your Walt Disney World package you will be given a link by your Travel Planner to log into Your My Disney Experience and associate your reservation. 60 Days prior to your arrival date you will be able to go into your planning center and Customize your MagicBand and it will be shipped directly to your home shortly after. The excitement already starts to build when you have your Magic Box show up at your door step!

The MagicBands are worn on your wrist and can be sized for all wrist sizes. They can be customized by color and with your name or nickname placed on the back of the band. Be sure to order your band prior to 11 days before you travel so you can have it shipped to your home. If you do a last minute booking, no worries, your band will be sent to the resort for when you check in.

The MagicBands can also be decorated with special accessories — MagicBandits and MagicSliders. One accessory that we found very helpful was the CoverBands. Because the bands are made out of magic rubber, a hot day can prove to be a little sweaty, but, with the CoverBand your wrist will remain comfortable and less sweaty. We felt it was worth the $6.95 for one – or you can purchase a pack of three for $15.95.

The bands are water proof, even for that long soak in the hot tub! So you don’t have to worry about losing your room key when you set it on the chair with the towel! You are wearing it!

Just rolled out this past weekend you can now use your MagicBand for your PhotoPass photos. We loved this feature as well – no fumbling for the card while trying to keep track of the kids and all your belongings. Simply pose for your photo and tap your band.

The MagicBand works with your FastPass+ choices that you will select before you arrive or once you get to the theme park. I highly recommend picking them prior to your arrival. We could not believe how much we loved this feature. We thought scheduling them ahead of time would be a pain, but, once you have used it and saw it in action we were sold! Remember the Fast Pass Dash? – Dad gathering all the Key to the World cards and running down Main Street to get the family their fast pass for Space Mountain? Well, now Dad can enjoy the stroll down Main Street with the rest of the family because you already know in advance that you WILL get on Space Mountain. Another really exciting feature with the FastPass+ is the Character Meet and Greet locations. If your daughter always wanted to meet Rapunzel, and you know that you cannot schedule a Character Meal with her, well you can schedule a FastPass + option for the Rapunzel Meet and Greet at the new Princess Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom. You can leave home knowing your little one WILL meet Rapunzel.

All in all, you will love the benefits of the MagicBands. They are convenient, easy to use, fun to get delivered to your doorstep and to accessorize once you arrive.

Evil Comes Out To Play At Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens

This fall, for select nights, Howl-O-Scream 2013 unleashes thirteen evils, to be exact. The Surgeon, Butcher, Psychopath, Clown, Voodoo Queen and their demented friends will torment you through unexpected terrors lurking around every corner, including new houses, all-new scare zones and thrilling live entertainment. They will leave you screaming for more.

Evil Comes Out To Play At Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens

The after-hours Halloween event at the Tampa theme park is themed around 13 evils incorporated into its haunted houses and scare zones.

The Haunted Houses for 2013

Death Water Bayou

Death Water Bayou – Deep in the bayou the #6 Voodoo Queen mystically transforms lost wanderers into her minions of evil with black magic. Here, her night servants roam with a zombie-like hunger and seek to grow her collection. The darkest evils lurk in shadows. Get out before you fall victim to her spell.

The Basement

The Basement – From Momma’s secret ingredient to Granny’s bone-ground flour, Momma’s Meats’ award-winning recipe has always been a family affair that’s only created in the BASEMENT.  Escape the depths of the BASEMENT before she and #4 Butcher turn you in to the secret sauce! She always said it took blood, sweat and tears!

Circus of Superstition 3-D

Circus of Superstition 3-D – You’ve tried to avoid black cats and sidewalk cracks, but all those years of bad luck caught up with you! The #13 Clown challenges you to survive 13 superstitions in their 3-D Tent of Terror, but it will take more than luck to escape his whole new dimension of fear.

Blood Asylum

Blood Asylum – As lightning rages and thunder crashes outside, “The Creature” escapes from his holding cell in a high-security asylum for the criminally insane.  Now this sadistic deviant is running rampant, skinning his former cellmates and turning the mental hospital into his own torture chamber. This serial killer’s bloody playground will drive you out of your mind with fear.

Nevermore

Nevermore – Beating hearts, swinging pendulums and a raven’s cries haunt the manor of Lenore, creating a demented and twisted nightmare. Step inside to experience the gothic terror that maddens the lord of the house and feel delusion overcome reality. Find your way out of this horror story before paranoia authors your final chapter.

Zombie Mortuary

Zombie Mortuary  – No one remembers how the epidemic started, but now, the #9 Zombie and his undead friends live here. They infest this small town funeral home and feed on the fresh flesh and brains of mortuary mourners to satisfy their insatiable hunger. Avoid the walking dead or you may find yourself deeper than six feet under.

Ultimate Gamble

Ultimate Gamble – Under sleek Vampire reign, the once-vibrant Ultimate Gamble casino glowed. Now werewolves have overthrown their mortal enemies and are running rampant in the casino. The carnivorous beasts have caught on to the scent of fresh blood inside the closed casino. Will you make it out alive before your luck runs out!

The Experiment

The Experiment* – Researchers challenge your fear tolerance and mental endurance in this never-been-done-before Experiment. In this exclusive study, “test subjects” endure psychological tests and must face top fear-inducing elements, from roaches and snakes to needles and darkness. How far is too far in this study of fear? Will you survive The Experiment?

Howl-O-Scream runs for 14 select nights between Sept. 27 and Oct. 26.

Admission is $89, although there are discounts and options including VIP Packages, the Fright Feast dinner buffet, front-of-line passes and multiday passes. For tickets or more information, contact your Kingdom Magic Travel Planner.

*A new reservations-required (and extra charge) experience is The Experiment, which turns guests into psychological studies. They must “face fear-inducing elements, from roaches and snakes to needles and darkness,” according to a Busch Gardens media release. Experimentees must pay Howl-O-Scream admission, then $50 for this house (Additional guests, up to four, for $10 apiece).

Seven “Must Do’s” at the Walt Disney World Resort during the Holiday Season – Guest Blog Post

Seven Must Do's at the Walt Disney World Resort during the Holiday Season - Guest Blog Post

There is nothing like Walt Disney World at Christmas time.  No matter where you turn, you are immersed in the wonders of the Holidays. I thought I would share seven of my top “Must Do’s” when I visit during the Holiday season.  I look forward to doing each of these things among the many other attractions, and fun Disney has to offer.  Get ready to imagine yourself at Disney during the holidays!

1.  Take an true adventure in the evenings to Fort Wilderness Campgrounds.  There is nothing like it!  Decorations galore – not just by Disney but many of  the campers participate!  December is the perfect month to experience it all.

You can plan this time out as some of the activities need reservations.  Start off by scheduling dinner at Trails End, then schedule a Holiday Sleigh Ride!  Yes – I said Sleigh Ride.    You can of course choose to walk through the campground, but riding is a lot of fun too.  Sleigh rides are typically 25 minutes and run about $60.00.  Your Travel Planner can help you make the reservations.  You won’t be disappointed!

2.  Take a Holiday Deluxe Resort tour This is something I really enjoy once the decorations go up and are completed around Thanksgiving.  Each resort has a unique decorated theme and one more wonderful than the next.  I usually break this up into two days, but you can do it in one day.    I explore the Magic Kingdom Resorts the day I plan to go to the Magic Kingdom and then do the Boardwalk Resorts the day I am at Epcot.

For the Magic Kingdom – I start by taking the boat from the Magic Kingdom to the Wilderness Lodge.  After the Wilderness Lodge I take the boat to the Contemporary and then make my way around the monorail.  The last stop is The Grand Floridian – where the smell of the life size Gingerbread house engulfs the entire resort grand lobby.  You have to buy a little gingerbread!

Don’t miss the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  It is a stop all of it’s own, but worth seeing.   If you want to complete your tour in one day – you can hop back on the monorail and change at Ticket Transportation to the Epcot Monorail.

Once at Epcot walk toward the back entrance between the United Kingdom and France and take a stroll to the Boardwalk Resort.  Stop by the bakery for a little treat.  Then visit the Beach Club and the Yacht Club.  A fantastic way to end my tour is to attend the Candlelight Processional at Disney’s Epcot.  It gives me goose bumps every time I attend.

3.  Enjoy the Epcot Storytellers!  This is a treat for the whole family to experience.  Each country will share their legends with Storytellers.  They perform several times a day and begin in early November and end around the 29th of December.  Even Santa and Mrs. Claus make their appearance in the American Adventure!  Make a photo journal  or have the children commentary a video with your family to remember some of these great stories.

4.  Joyful!  The Gospel Celebration of the Season at Epcot.  We often just stumble upon such great shows at Disney – this is one not to be missed.  Located just pass the Fountain of Nations as you head toward World Showcase a blast of wonderful holiday music will really get you in the mood!  Sing and Dance along!

5.  Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Now I don’t mean just going to see it – I mean being there when they are turned on at dusk.  If you are one of the lucky ones you can be chosen to flip the switch!  There is no light display that can match this one and you can experience it!  If you have some 3-D glasses at home, put them in your suitcase and take them on the night you do this activity – Osborne Lights in 3-D – very cool too!

 6.  The Cinderella Castle Lighting — another truly Magical Moment at the Walt Disney World Resort.  At 6:30 Each evening you can be amazed when the Castle Lighting takes place.  You have always thought the Castle looks beautiful, but when Fairy Godmother works her magic you will have never guessed what she could make happen!

7.  Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party  — is one of the more well known events at the Magic Kingdom and is a personal favorite of mine.  Snuggle up in your Mickey Santa Hat, scarf and some gloves and head out for a Magical Celebration of the season.  Snow on main street, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Holiday parade, hot chocolate and cookies and so much more!  Just seeing the characters dressed in their Holiday best warms the heart.

Until now, when our clients wanted to include a stay at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando transportation took a little extra planning getting from one location to the next and then to the airport, and a little extra money.  Well now the answer is easy!  Universal Orlando introduces a brand new option – the “Meet and Greet Transfer”!

Universal Orlando introduces a brand new option - the “Meet and Greet Transfer"Your  Kingdom Magic Travel Planner can now book an exclusive  “Meet and Greet Transfer” added on to their Universal Vacation Package,  that includes a transfer between Universal and Walt Disney World AND also Orlando International airport – MCO.   This is a perfect answer and at a great price – only $39.00 per person*.

Universal Orlando introduces a brand new option - the “Meet and Greet Transfer"!When you fly into Orlando International airport (MCO),  you can choose where you want to start your vacation either Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando.  If you begin with a Walt Disney World package your transfers would be; Disney’s Magical Express to your Disney Resort, then a Meet and Greet Universal transfer via Quick Transportation from your Disney Resort to one of Universal’s onsite Deluxe resorts then to the Orlando International Airport to complete your vacation.  It will work just the opposite if you begin at Universal Orlando!  Simple! Reservations for Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park Open on August 20

UPDATE: Time change! Reservations will now open at 7 a.m. Eastern on Monday, Aug. 20 (not noon as previously reported)

Ready, set, make your reservations beginning August 20 at Be Our Guest Restaurant in the New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World. You can make reservations up to 180 days out – the very first seating will be for dinner on November 19. Be sure to contact your Kingdom Magic Personal Travel Planner to let them know you would like to eat here.

Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland

On the Disney Dining Plan, Be Our Guest is one quick-service entitlement for lunch, and one table-service restaurant entitlement for dinner.

Lunch is quick and casual, with guest-activated terminals that make ordering a snap (there also will be traditional cashiers for cash orders and special dietary requests). You order, take a seat and lunch is delivered to your table – on china, not paper. Dinner is table service.

Cuisine is French-inspired to match the hit animated film’s theme, with three themed dining rooms: the mysterious West Wing with the “enchanted rose”; the Rose Gallery with twirling, larger-than-life figures of Belle and Beast; and the elegant Ballroom with domed ceiling, twinkling chandeliers and glimpses of softly falling snow outside.

Initial sneak peeks (and tastes) are amazing! We’ll share more details and photos of the restaurant and food soon.
