New Generation Of Thrill Ride Coming To The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade

New Generation Of Thrill Ride Coming To The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade

A new generation of thrill ride is coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in 2019! We can’t tell you everything about the new ride just yet, but here’s what we can share:

  • This all-new thrill ride will take you deeper into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where you will encounter some of your favorite characters and creatures. It’ll be unlike anything Universal Orlando Resort ever done before and it will be fun for the entire family.
  • The new attraction will be one of the most highly-themed coaster experiences Universal has ever created. It will combine a new level of storytelling with an action-packed adventure…and a few surprises along the way.
  • The award-winning Universal Creative team is once again collaborating with Warner Bros. and the production design team from the Harry Potter films to bring this new coaster experience to life.
  • This ride is going to redefine the category and transport you to thrilling places, drawing you into even more exciting adventures within the wizarding world. It’s going to be the perfect addition to Hogsmeade.

Universal is permanently closing Dragon Challenge on September 5 to make way for this all-new ride. The last day of operation will be Monday, September 4.

In the meantime, make sure you get out to Hogsmeade and take your last ride on Dragon Challenge before it closes.

New Universal Orlando Youth Program Turns Theme Parks Into Interactive Learning Experiences

New Universal Orlando Youth Program Turns Theme Parks Into Interactive Learning Experiences

What happens when you take your physics textbook and turn it into a roller coaster?

Enter Your Classroom in Motion: A STEAM App Series, the latest Universal Orlando Youth Program.

Several programs make up this new series. Each one is unique and contains three parts:

  • Content-rich, pre-visit classroom lessons
  • Career-focused videos from NBC Learn
  • Thrilling in-park attraction and app-based experiences here at Universal Orlando Resort

And great news for teachers—the lessons all correlate with middle school and high school national and state education standards in STEAM concepts.

(STEAM is an educational approach that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics to guide learning.)

As a former educator, I know that when students are having fun with their work, learning is a natural outcome. To make the most of that, the series consists of the follow learning modules:

  • Transformers ROLL Out
Learn about the engineering principles of the 6 Degrees of Freedom. Then, reconstruct the ride vehicle’s motion sequences on TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D.
  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Science
Work in small groups to collect data and measure speed at different points along the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster. Then, use the data to prove the law of conservation of energy.
  • Kongtrol Panel
Use engineering principles to maneuver the ride vehicle around Skull Island: Reign of Kong.
  • Mummy Dig Site Detective
Use scientific observation to investigate curious discoveries at the dig site beneath Revenge of the Mummy.
  • Jurassic Paleobotany
Search for foliage in Jurassic Park using a digital map to collect photographic samples of Jurassic-era plants.

Your Classroom In Motion uses innovative software – exclusive to groups participating in the program – to give students hands-on learning lessons throughout Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme parks.

For students who love the performing arts, we also enhanced our existing workshop, Sound Design: Music and the Art of Foley. This energetic workshop gives students the chance to experience a day in the life of a working movie musician.

Band, choir or orchestra students can now sync music or choral arrangements and create sound effects and voiceovers to Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me and The Lorax.

Universal Orlando Resort is always ready to take students beyond the classroom and bring education to life.  Contact your Kingdom Magic Vacations Travel Planner for more information.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong brings the next generation of the King Kong legend to life on an unprecedented scale. The adventure begins as guests are transported deep into a mysterious world, where their mission is to discover creatures of unknown origin with the 8th Wonder Expedition Company, the research team leading the excursion. After braving ancient temple ruins and encountering hostile natives, they board a massive 40-foot-long, 17-ton expedition vehicle to navigate the increasingly foreboding terrain.

The specially designed expedition vehicle, which operates on a completely trackless ride system, takes guests deeper into the ominous island, where they soon find themselves in the midst of a brutal struggle between beasts of unimaginable size and ferocity.

Then, as those creatures turn on the expedition, there is an even more enormous, earth-pounding presence. It is Kong – in the flesh. Towering nearly three stories tall, he is so close that you can feel his breath and sense his emotion. But is he friend or foe?

Universal Orlando Debuts Revolutionary Ride Vehicle for “Skull Island: Reign of Kong”

Your mission is to explore a treacherous island teeming with creatures of unknown origin. You will face ominous terrain, impenetrable jungles – and surprises beyond your imagination. A traditional off-road vehicle will not do. Your expedition will require something more…colossal.

Skull Island Reign of Kong Ride Vehicle

This summer, Universal Orlando Resort will bring the thrilling next generation of the King Kong legend to life in Skull Island: Reign of Kong. Everything about the new attraction will be massive. And Universal Orlando needed an entirely new – and revolutionary – way to transport guests into the middle of the adventure.

Guests will board a specially designed expedition vehicle that will do what no other Universal ride vehicle can do and take them where no other vehicle can go.

The 40-foot-long, 17-ton expedition vehicle will use a sophisticated positioning system to independently navigate a rough, jungle road through unpredictable terrain. The front and back axles that support the vehicle’s 45-inch wheels can be steered individually, allowing the vehicle to take sharp turns and pull off complicated maneuvers. It will be one of the most immersive and realistic ride experiences on Earth – all within one of the most immersive and realistic theme park experiences ever created.

As guests board their expedition vehicle, they will meet one of the five guides who will be their driver – each with a distinct personality.

  • Becky Callahan: The loose-cannon cowgirl who isn’t fazed by the dangers awaiting her on Skull Island.
  • Will Denham: The fresh-faced, adventure-seeking younger cousin of famed movie director Carl Denham.
  • Jinks Costanza: A hardened New York City ex-con who is wary of the island’s mysteries.
  • Kalana: A mystical descendant of the natives who first settled on the island.
  • Charles “Doc” Jordan: A PhD student in paleontology who took time off from his studies to explore the world.

Check out this video to get a taste of what’s in store for guests of Skull Island: Reign of Kong!

A Day At Universal Orlando Resort Theme Parks with Travel With Rick

On this week’s Travel With Rick show we take a whirlwind tour through the two incredible theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort. We start in Universal Studios Florida, then on to Islands of Adventure, and finish up at Universal CityWalk. It’s awesome!

5 Ways To Amp Up The Adventure In Your Universal Vacation

Are you coming to Universal Orlando Resort? We have some ideas on how to add a little more adventure and fun into your vacation.

1. Ride Every Thrill Attraction in One Day

feature

For the adrenaline junkies out there, Universal’s awesome roller coasters are the surest, quickest way to get your heart racing. I can’t get enough of the drops, spirals, loops and inversions, from The Incredible Hulk Coaster to the Dragon Challenge to Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.

Challenge yourself to the most thrilling day possible, and set out to ride every coaster Universal Orlando has to offer at least once. For extra thrills, get Universal’s Express Pass and ride each one a few times in a row—but I’ll warn you now, your hair will be a mess by the end of the day. A small price to pay for adventure!

2. Be a Rock Star

rising-star-1170x731
Whether you sing like a diva or only by yourself in the shower, one way to have an epic experience is at Universal CityWalk’s karaoke club, Rising Star. Here, you get to be in the spotlight as the star of your own concert with a live band, backup singers and audience to cheer you on.

I could sing karaoke all night long, but I still get nervous—it can be scarier than any thrill ride, if you ask me! But there’s nothing like leaving your comfort zone behind to create a lasting memory and get bragging rights for life.

3. Go Rock Climbing

DSC_0246-1170x731

Most people don’t realize there are two 50 ft.-tall rock-climbing walls located inside Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Conquer your fears, strap a harness on and race to the sky. My favorite part about the rock wall is the moment before you jump off at the very top and rappel down. If that doesn’t get your heart pounding, nothing will!

4. Volunteer to be in a show.

fear-factor-1170x731
It’s always fun to watch the shows at Universal Orlando’s theme parks. But if you want to take your day to the next level, volunteer to participate! You can be part of the show in Fear Factor Live, just make sure you keep your camera rolling. This is a one-of-a-kind adventure you’ll want to share once you get back home.

A casting process is used to select 6 park guests to be contestants in 3 stunts in front of the live audience, with one winner for each show. An additional 18 volunteers are chosen from the audience to participate in the show. Check your park maps for that day’s showtimes when you arrive.

5. Interact with a Live Velociraptor

raptor-selfie

Be sure to stop at Jurassic Park’s newest attraction, Raptor Encounter, to get up close and personal with a living predator. The Raptor is always ready for a toothy photo opp. Don’t worry, you’re probably safe from those razor sharp teeth and claws behind a 10,000 volt fence. It hasn’t gotten out… yet.

One Direction’s Liam Payne Visits Universal Orlando Resort

After wrapping up the first leg of One Direction’s European Tour, Liam Payne enjoyed a family vacation at Universal Orlando Resort.

During his visit on July 4, the singer and songwriter came face-to-face with velociraptors at the all-new Raptor Encounter experience at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Payne is best known for being a member of the award-winning pop boy band One Direction.
