We know that many of you are as excited as we are to celebrate Epcot’s 30th anniversary here at Walt Disney World Resort on October 1.

In honor of the milestone, the park has lined up a few special offerings for guests who wish to mark this special occasion.

30th Anniversary of Epcot

Throughout the day on October 1, guests can attend Epcot history presentations in World Showplace courtesy of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club. These presentations are included in park admission and are limited in seating.

6:30–8 p.m. – Epcot: How it Changed the World with Marty Sklar
Guests can also attend an anniversary moment at the America Gardens Theatre at 3 p.m., which will feature appearances by Disney leaders and include performances by Mariachi Cobre and Voices of Liberty. (Seating for this presentation is also limited.)

A Real American Adventure: U.S. Soldier Returns from Afghanistan to Surprise His Family at Epcot

Who doesn’t love watching the creative ways that members of the U.S. Armed Forces are surprising their loved ones upon their return home from a tour of duty?

Earlier this week, SPC Scott Halquist of St. Cloud, Florida, reunited with his children right here at the American Adventure attraction in Epcot. After Voices of Liberty finished their performance, Halquist was announced as a surprise special guest – to the wide-eyed delight of his children Joshua, 2; Jack, 7; and Grace, 8.

Scott’s wife, Amy, worked with Walt Disney World Resort cast members to help arrange the surprise reunion for their family.

Now, is it just me, or is little 2-year-old Joshua the cutest thing ever as he jumped up and down waiting for his daddy?

Celebrating Independence Day with Voices of Liberty at Disneyland Park

Nothing stirs my patriotic spirit – on July 4th or any day of the year – quite like listening to the incomparable Voices of Liberty, the a cappella group that has become a cherished tradition at Walt Disney World Resort. Recently, a new Voices of Liberty ensemble made its debut at the Disneyland Resort, and they are just as impressive.

You might be interested to know some Voices of Liberty alumni from Epcot were involved in the formation of the new group. Show Director Dimitri Toscas and Music Director Tony DeRosa both sang with Voices of Liberty in the late ‘90s, and Tony has served as musical director for the group at Epcot since 2006.

“The advantage of Tony coming to Disneyland is he keeps the continuity of the style and the sound and the tradition,” said Dimitri, who wrote some of the unique scripted sections for the Disneyland park version of the show.

“It’s been such a staple of Walt Disney World entertainment for 30 years now,” said Tony. “What a great opportunity for that landmark entertainment from Epcot to come home to the original and become part of the fabric of Disneyland.”

Have a listen, and I think you’ll agree!

When visiting Disneyland park this summer, you won’t want to miss this celebration of the music that inspired our nation. Voices of Liberty is scheduled to appear at the Main Street Opera House prior to select performances of “The Disneyland Story Presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln,” each Friday through Tuesday, through September 16.
