Concourse Steakhouse
Located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Lunch
After explaining to the
security guard working the guardhouse at Disney’s Contemporary
Resort that the reason for our visit was to eat lunch at The
Concourse Steakhouse we were allowed to park our car and entered the
resort, at the ground floor lobby. We took the escalator ride to the
fourth floor concourse and quickly located the restaurant within the
cavernous open space with its mix of shops and restaurants. With
most of the guests either enjoying the Florida sun at poolside or in
the theme parks our arrival was greeted with a smile and an
immediate table.
To start our lunch we selected an order of Beer-battered Onion
Rings, which were served with three dipping sauces, an Asian type
Sweet and Sour sauce, a spicy mayo sauce, much like a Cajun
Remoulade and the last was a gingered Papaya Louli. All were good, I
particularly enjoyed the Asian version while my companion enjoyed
the papaya sauce. We also ordered the Pan-seared Scallops, partly
because I had not had any since the night before at Narcoosse's and
partly because my friend in all is years living in Florida had never
tried them. Personally, I love scallops, but my companion could have
taken them or left them, since there were only three on the
appetizer, that left more for me. They were quite good, and tender,
served over a bed of arugula and a honey-vinaigrette dressing.
We
both chose the Prime Rib Cheese steak sandwich since it came highly
recommended by our server. The bun was soft and tasty, and the prime
rib was lean and very tender. With both enjoyed the sandwich very
much.
Our server also highly recommended the desserts, with a strong
push toward the Vanilla
Bean Créme Brûlée which also happened to be my friends personal favorite.
I think our server used the word "extraordinary" when he described
it, and after a taste test, we think it came up as "average", which
is a little less than extraordinary, but good none the less.
This restaurant with the monorail passing overhead and the guests
scurrying to and from the theme parks did manage to satisfy our
hungers and remind us, at least for a few moments longer that we
were still on vacation.
The easy monorail access from the Magic Kingdom theme park makes
this restaurant a fabulous choice for a comfortable lunch and a nice
break from the crowds.
