Olivia's - Disney's
Old Key West Resort
During
a recent visit to Walt Disney World in Orlando, our stay in the Old
Key West resort was enhanced even more with the pleasant discovery
of Olivia’s Restaurant. We had a couple of terrific meals there that
were enjoyed by our entire party.
This time of year it was rather hard to get reservations for our
party of six on short notice because the restaurants are very busy
during the holidays. If you plan to visit during the holidays next
year please take advantage of the dining plan and book your
reservations as far in advance as possible. Your trip will be much
more enjoyable if you do.
We were here only for a short stay to enjoy the annual Candlelite
processional. This year was even better than in the past, thanks
mainly to the wonderful talent and enthusiasm of Rita Moreno. If the
opportunity arises to see this lady perform take advantage of it.
Breakfast in Olivia’s is an opportunity to enjoy fluffy omelets and
hash brown potatoes that are unique to Olivia’s but very tasty
nonetheless. They actually serve grits that you can eat with a fork,
very good. The coffee was good; strong and black as coffee is
supposed to be. A smiling and courteous sever who made sure we had
plenty of coffee as we lingered longer than we probably should have
while the wives left us for some last minute shopping.
Dinner was served by a beautiful young woman who was enthusiastic
and knowledgeable about different entrees and her suggestions were
right on the money. The Mahi Mahi served with stuffed crab was as
good as you get in a waterfront restaurant that specializes in
seafood. I was told the pasta with shrimp was also very delicious.
The steak salad was a delicious looking entrée but with Mahi Mahi
and grouper on the menu I had to have fish. The apple pie with real
ice cream and coffee was a great way to finish the meal.
Olivia’s is a great restaurant the entire family will enjoy for good
food, courteous service, and pleasant surroundings.
