Typhoon Lagoon

This water park, which first opened in June of 1989, is themed around the once prosperous Placid Palms Resort that was struck by a typhoon. The centerpiece is the 100-foot Mount Mayday where the parks two speed slides, four twisting body slides and three tube slides all are located. Guests will also notice the Miss Tilly a shrimp boat that was stranded on top of Mt. Mayday during the storm that turned the island upside down.

Beneath the 100-foot manmade mountain the theme spreads out with water cascading down to the two and a half-acre lagoon that is surrounded by white sand beaches. The tropical setting with its lush vegetation offers plenty of comfortable and shaded areas that guests can retreat to.

The tropical winding paths that lead away from the entrance take guests to the storm damaged resort that plays host to many of the guest services.
