Beyond the Theme Parks
Walt Disney World®
Recreational Activities
There is a wide range of recreational
activities that guests at the Walt Disney World®
Resort can enjoy. The list of choices offer up some familiar
activities, as well as other activities that will offer guests the
opportunity to explore something exciting and different.
Disney Quest
Disney Quest is the latest and the newest brand of Disney theme
park. In this simple five-story building Disney has boldly gone
where it has only modestly gone before. A combination of theme park
elements, that is to say environment or theming has join forces with
21st century computer technology to deliver an adventure that is
intended to engage the entire family.
To think of this as just a large modern arcade would be a mistake.
DisneyQuest is designed very similar to Disney’s other theme parks.
Guests enter through a main plaza called Ventureport. From
Ventureport guests can choose and enter one of the various themed
zones.
Horse Back Riding
Guided Trail Ride, Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
Walt Disney World guests both those staying at a Walt Disney World
Resort and those visiting for the day are invited to enjoy a
45-minute guided trail ride through the natural beauty of Fort
Wilderness Campgrounds & Resort. This trail ride is a walking paced
ride, which is fine for beginners. Up to twenty riders per adventure
will join two Walt Disney World cast members several times a day on
this relaxing and enjoyable ride.
Guests are asked to arrive thirty minutes prior to departure during
which they are introduced to their horses given a few rules of the
trail before setting out. Departure is from Fort Wilderness
Trailblaze Corral at Tri-Circle D Livery. This is located at Fort
Wilderness Campground guests services.
Richard Petty Driving Experience
Since 1997 the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Walt Disney World
Speedway has been giving racecar fans an opportunity to get out of
the grandstands into a 600 horsepower 358-cubic-inch V-8 NASCAR
Winston Cup stock car.
Drive your own car, or ride shotgun on a 145-mph ride of a lifetime
around mile-long, tri-oval track.
The Richard Petty Driving Experience at Walt Disney World Speedway
offers three driving experiences and a ride-along program.
Rookie Experience a 3-hour program that includes eight laps of
driving thrills.
King's Experience features 16 laps of driving divided into two 8-lap
sessions.
Experience of a Lifetime Participants work on establishing a
comfortable driving line and building speed in a series of three
10-lap sessions.
Ride-Along Program Here participants enjoy a 3-lap thrills ride as a
passenger at a top speed of 145 mph.

receive your "lap sheets" and a certificate of completion
documenting your top speed.
Fishing Excursions
In the late 1960’s Walt Disney World planners released 70,000 bass
fingerlings into Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. Fishing in these
waters was not permitted until 1977, which allowed ample time for
the bass to grow and breed undisturbed.
Today the fishing in these waters is spectacular and has caught the
attention of the sport-fishing world. Such professional bass
fisherman as Jimmy Houston, Hank Parker and Bill Dance have all
fished these productive waterways.
While guests can expect to land bass-weighing 2 to 8 pounds
routinely the record for largemouth bass stands at 14 pounds, 6
ounces.
All fishing excursions are led by expert bass guides aboard pontoon
boats that are fully stocked with rods, reels, fishing gear and
refreshments.
The two hour guided tours are available daily with an advance
reservation
Up to five guests per tour
Each tour is a catch & release program
