Packing For the Most Magical Place on Earth

This article will hopefully save you the frustration and inconveniences experienced when you reach for a toothbrush that isn’t there or find yourself looking for a pair of dress shoes only to realize that they did not make the cut back home.

Additionally there are some plan ahead, pack ahead items that will save you some real Vacation Dollars, as well as, have the troops thinking you are a genius.

Clothing
During the warmer or summer months pack light colored clothing. Make sure you are comfortably dressed and be prepared to have more than one change of clothes each day. Make sure you have footwear and accessories for the different outfits you plan on wearing.

During the cooler or winter months be sure to include sweaters and shorts. Temperatures can vary greatly ranging from eighty degree to forty degree temperatures. If you will be vacationing during the months of December to February a winter coat may make you the envy of those who did not pack one thinking that they would encounter only sunshine and warm temperatures.

Bring a good pair of sneakers but nothing new. Make sure they a broken in and comfortable and
socks that are not 100% cotton.

Footwear for around the hotel pool or at one of the water theme parks such as water shoes or sandals are recommended. The walkways are frequently sprayed with water but you will find hot spots.

Two swimsuits if you have them. You may find yourself heading to the pool frequently and a dry suit to put on while one is hanging and drying in the bathroom or out on the balcony is a nice thing to have.

A night out at Walt Disney World to one of the finer dining locations is relaxed with resort casual the order of the day. There are a couple of notable exceptions, so when making your dining reservations ask what the dress code is.


Food
Sealed snack foods and any special foods can be transported in a simple cardboard box. Pack it carefully and snuggly seal it with packing tape and transport it as part of your luggage. At the end of your stay simply leave the empty box behind.

Sundries and Over-The-Counter Items
These items although readily available throughout Walt Disney World will be expensive, so stock up before you leave and save the Vacation Dollars for a Silly Hat.

Gum - If you are a gum chewer stock up, because you will not find it available at Walt Disney World.

Analgesic
- Some headache or mild pain reliever such as Tylenol or similar generic brand analgesic.

Antacid - For relief form the potential gastric compliant that may occur following that exotic meal you so callously digested.

Band-Aids – A variety pack for the potential hot spot or blister that may follow a long day at the theme parks.

Sunscreen – A bottle of a high rated sunscreen and some sunscreen wipes that come in individually wrapped packets.

Batteries – Plenty of spare batteries for the camera, MP3 or the kids gameboy

Paper Towels – A roll of paper towels or handi-wipes can convenient and refreshing.

Plastic Bags – Several large size trash bags will also come in handy for the dirty laundry and to stick that wet bathing suit in for the trip back home. They also come in handy to keep you dry on Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids.

Comb, brush and spare tooth brush – If you need to purchase one of these items you will have a better understanding of the old saying, “they saw you coming”.

You’re a Genius

Glasses & Sunglasses
If you own a spare set of glasses or sunglasses stick them in. If you lose your primary pair you won’t have to be led around by the hand or have someone read you the menu.

Water mister spray fans
Pick one up before you go at one-third the price of ones sold in the parks

Umbrella
A small compact light colored umbrella will come handy during that sudden rain shower or to shelter you from the sun while waiting in a long line.

Ponchos
Those sold at Disney are light blue, so go for another color. This will allow those in your group to be easily spotted in a never-ending sea of blue when a sudden rain shower breaks out.

Disposable Camera
In addition to Dads new 35mm or digital camera you may want to pack a disposable waterproof camera. This can be taken to the water theme park or around the hotel pool so you can capture the fun without the worry

Prescription Medicine
If you take prescription medication you may want take along a list of these medications, as well as, your Health Care Providers telephone number and fax number. Prescriptions can be filled and delivered to your room, but the process will be greatly expedited if this information is readily available
