What your Disney dollars will get you
Each value room will offer you exterior corridors and rooms that
feature:
Size - 260 square feet
Beds - two double beds, or one king-size bed
Furnishings – a dresser, TV, nightstand, table with two chairs, a
small room safe, clock radio
Bathroom – single sink, mirror, open vanity area, toilet and
tub/shower in separate area
The All-Star what?
The All-Star Sports, Movies and Music Resorts are located on the
western most portion of Walt Disney World property most closely
situated to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. If a Disney water
park or a round of miniature golf are on your agenda Blizzard Beach
and Winter Summerland are within easy reach.
When does one plus one plus one equal one?
All three of these value resorts with their combined total of 10
buildings and nearly 6,000 rooms, although separately managed and
each with its own distinctive theme, lobby, main themed pool and
food court could almost be considered one mega resort. With only a
parking lot serving as a line of demarcation between each All-Star
resort guests with a little curiosity and energy can walk from one
resort to the other.
Remember to gather all personal items and take small children by the
hand
Guests at each All-Star resort will board the same bus as it stops
at the All-Sports then the All-Star Music and finally the All-Star
Movies before finally transporting you to one of the magical
destinations found at Walt Disney World. The same is true on the
return trip back to any of the All-Star resorts from a day at the
theme parks. Here again All-Star guests will board a single bus that
is often crowded and can leave some guests standing and hanging on
for the trip back home.
Who’s the new kid on the block?
Pop Century Disney’s newest entry in the realm of value resorts is
located on the southeastern most portion of Walt Disney World
property and is situated most closely to Disney-MGM Studio and Epcot
theme parks. Typhoon Lagoon one of the two Disney water parks is
also not far away.
This value resort’s iconic theme will allow guests to encounter
larger than life memories of the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.
So what’s not to like?
The minuses encounter at the value resorts will be felt in the areas
of check in, dining, and transportation.
We’re here
Guests can often encounter long lines at check in, but those guests
who take advantage of the express check out will allow themselves a
quick good bye at the other end of their stay.
Bell services at the value resorts are not individualized, which
means that luggage is delivered to several rooms or even buildings
at a time. This may cause a delay in the delivery of your luggage to
your room.
We’re hungry
Dining at the large food court found at each resort, especially at
traditional meal times can often be a challenge and more a matter of
function than enjoyment.
We’re ready to go
Taking into consideration the number of guest rooms, the overall
layout and the fact that there is only a single bus stop for each of
the All-Star resorts jumping on a bus to the Magic Kingdom may not
be as simply as it sounds.
So what’s to like?
What makes these four Walt Disney World Resorts so popular?
Value
Guests at the All-Star resorts enjoy all the amenities and
privileges of a Walt Disney World Resort guest, including Surprise
Morning (early entry into the theme parks) and guaranteed theme park
admission even at the busiest times of the year all for a room rate
that won’t require a second mortgage.
Did you say a little elbow room for a not so big price?
With the lower per night room rate families will often get two rooms
connecting. This will afford you twice the bathroom and living space
and the opportunity of a little privacy after the kids go to bed by
simply closing off the connecting door.
A little planning, a little savings, a lot of fun
Great room rates and great touring conditions can be found during
Disney’s “Value Season”. This may require that the kids be pulled
out of school for a few days, but with some advance school work and
effort on the part of the kids, along with the motivation of a
Family Disney Vacation anything is possible.
In our next issue we will explore Walt Disney World’s Moderate
resorts.
So join us next time when we see what a few extra Disney dollars out
of your vacation budget will buy you.
