If you are traveling to Walt Disney World with a baby or toddler, you will want to be aware that each Walt Disney World Park offers a Baby Care Center. These centers offer so much and will make traveling with your baby so much easier. It can get really hot in the parks and these centers offer the perfect place to cool off and take care of your little one.
Kitchens in these facilities have baby care items for purchase. This makes things very convenient and a life safer if you forgot to pack an essential item. The centers offer Carnation Good Start Formulas, Gerber foods and juices, bottles, nipples, Huggies diapers and wipes, lotions, sunscreen and some over the counter medications for children. The kitchen area has a microwave, small sink and ample counter space. You will also find a private nursing room with electrical outlets for the mother that needs to use a breast pump.
In these centers you will also find rocking chairs, changing tables and high chairs. There is a television and small tables and chairs for your older children to utilize. Each center varies in size with Disney’s Hollywood Studios being the smallest. This center does not sell baby care needs but these items can be found for purchase at the Movieland Gift shop located to the left of Guest Relations.
Disney Water Parks and Disney Springs Area does not have a dedicated Baby Center, but you will find baby-changing stations in all the restrooms.
Parents with youngsters will find these centers a great place to stop during a hot busy day. It is a great area to take care of your child in a cool comfortable location and get recharged for more fun in the park!

-The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort

Your second option would be to board your pet at the Best Friends Pet Care. The staff here are highly trained pet care providers and they all love animals. The facility has 17,000 square feet of air-conditioned indoor space, 10,000 square feet of covered outdoor runs and area to play, plus a 25,000 square foot dog park. You never want to think that you will need First Aid care while on vacation at Walt Disney World but it is good to know what is offered and where to find it if the need arises. First Aid Stations located in the Walt Disney World parks are not just for you basic band aids. Let me tell you about some of the things that the First Aid Stations can do for you.
Say you are in the park and your child is not feeling well and you think they may have a fever, you can just stop in and check. They have thermometer strips available to give you. There is an area in the back with beds where someone can lie down for a while if they do not feel well.
The First Aid stations will also have samples of medicine for many things that can come up while traveling. They will have things for colds such as cold medicine, cough drops and even packets of tissues. If you get a bad headache that you just cannot shake, they can give you samples of Tylenol or Ibuprofen. If the headache is coming on because of the start of dehydration then you can get some powerade, damp cloths and a cool spot to rest until you are feeling better. All first aid stations are equipped with Epipens for insect bites and allergic reactions.
While on vacation, you may not be eating the same way you would at home which can lead to an upset stomach or indigestion. The stations will have samples of medicines to help relieve your symptoms.
If you get something in your eye someone at the station can help you flush your eye out. If you are having an issue with your contacts they will also have contact solution for you to use.
Probably one of the biggest things you could encounter while in Disney World is blisters from all the walking! Just stop in if this happens and they will have band-aids and bandages available.
These first aid stations also offer some special services that might be of use to some people. Did you know that these stations will store refrigerated medication for you. That will save you from having to go all the way back to your resort to take your medicine. You can also come here to do your breathing treatments for things such as asthma, just bring your nebulizer to First Aid and you have a nice private cool place to administer your treatment.
If you are a diabetic or require any daily injections a First Aid Station is the place you will want to go. They will even have special containers for disposal of your needles.
On my most recent visit I needed to visit the First Aid Station. I was taking an antibiotic that made me more susceptible to sun exposure. I had a reaction on my feet that made them so itchy. I was getting really miserable and happen to be walking by the First Aid Station. I walked in, they had me sign in, I showed them what I was experiencing, and they handed me a few packets of ointment that made me feel so much better. It saved the rest of my day! The staff and facilities were so great!
Now that you know what is available at the First Aid Stations let me tell you where you can locate each station at each park:
-Magic Kingdom – Located between Crystal Palace Restaurant and Casey’s Corner Restaurant near the restrooms as you are heading toward Adventureland.
-Epcot – Located in the Odyssey Center between Future World and the World Showcase.
-Hollywood Studios – Located in the Guest Relations building on Hollywood Boulevard near the front entrance.
-Animal Kingdom – Located at Discovery Island next to Creature Comforts/Starbucks location.
-Typhoon Lagoon, located just behindLeaning Palms.
-Blizzard Beach, located beside Lottawatta Lodge.
Hope this information helps you if you ever find yourself or a family member in need of a little medical assistance.

This week I’m excited to continue with part 2 of how to stay cool at Walt Disney World! Last week I covered attractions to head to to get out of the heat in both Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Today I will be sharing the best places to head to escape the high temperatures when visiting Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom!
The following list feature wonderful attractions that typically have a low wait time making them great attractions to head for when you are looking to get out of the heat, sit down and cool off! Let’s begin over at Hollywood Studios!
Hollywood Studios has been going through a transition period at the moment in anticipation of many new and exciting openings! The biggest new expansion being Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge that opens on August 29th! So this list might change in the future as we get new lands and attractions added to this park. However this is the current list when visiting the park today and these attractions will remain great spots to beat the heat as long as they are still open at this park!
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is an adorable live stage show! It is a personal favorite of mine because Ariel happens to be my favorite princess! This show happens continually during the day and because of this there is typically never a very long wait. The show is roughly 20 minutes and is a great spot to sit down in air conditioning!
For the First Time in Forever – Frozen Sing Along
If you are a Frozen fan then this sing along stage show is a can’t miss! The show is hosted by 2 hilarious narrators and features Anna, Elsa and Kristof themselves!! This show is another great one to head to when looking to escape the heat.
Star Wars Launch Bay
Star Wars Launch Bay is located in what use to be the Animation building. The Star Wars Launch Bay is the current hub for all things Star Wars. The whole building is filled with great air conditioning and in here Star Wars fans will find tons of things to do! You can enjoy seeing movie props and displays, watch a movie about Star Wars and more! This is also the location where you will find Star Wars character meet and greets!
One Man’s Dream
One Man’s Dream is an incredible walk through exhibit that includes piece of History from the life of Walt Disney as well as the Disney company. There is also always a movie that you can watch in here. Sometimes it’s the One Man’s Dream film which shares the very inspirational story of Walt Disney’s life and career and sometimes it is an exclusive preview for a new Disney film coming the theaters. This exhibit is a great place to cool off inside
Muppet-Vision 3D is a continual show that typically has a low wait and you can get right into the next showing. It has comfy seats and provides a great spot to get out of the sun.
Now let’s head over to Animal Kingdom!
Rafiki’s Planet Watch
While in Animal Kingdom you can take a train over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch where you will find many incredible exhibits all indoors in the air conditioning. Throughout the day, they do really awesome animal encounters in here and presentation about conservation. It is a great spot to check out.
Finding Nemo – The Musical
If you are a fan of Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo then this is the show for you! Experience the story of Finding Nemo told as a musical adventure! This is a fun 40-minute-long show that gets you out of the sun and the chance to sit down and recharge.
Festival of the Lion King
This is another breathtaking show that is a celebration of the music and story of The Lion King! This show is 30 minutes long so it provides you with a great break from the heat. This show I very popular however so try to get a fastpass for this one in advance so you can avoid the main queue line which is partly out in the sun.
It’s Tough to be a Bug!
This 3D film can be found inside the heart of Animal Kingdom’s icon, the Tree of Life! You get to feel like you are the size of a bug yourself and through special effects get to experience what life is like as a bug! It is a cute show and typically has a low wait time, making it a great place to head to when looking to escape the sun!
We’ve done it! We have covered places to stay cool at all 4 Walt Disney World theme parks! I hope that my lists gave you some ideas for the next time you visit the Disney Parks! The Disney Parks are home to so many magical experiences, from world-class attractions and shows to Incredibles restaurants, there is something for everyone to enjoy! An aspect of your Disney Vacation that can create so many wonderful memories is Disney character meet-and-greets!
Disney character meet-and-greets give you the opportunity to meet some of your favorite and most beloved Disney friends! This is the perfect time to take those amazing character photos and capture precious memories! Character meet-and-greets can also really be attractions within themselves! You can find yourself having incredible conversations with the characters and these interactions are the ones that truly create life-long memories that you and your family will always cherish!
With this in mind, there are definitely some tips to keep in mind when going into a character meet-and-greet that will guarantee you will have the BEST meet-and-greet possible! When you know the best way to interact with the characters you will be able to enjoy so much more than just a quick “smile for a picture and move on”, you will feel like you and the character are best friends!
Our Travel Planners Karen and Alyssa recently sat down with Karen’s son Danny. Danny is a graduate of the Disney College Program and previously worked in entertainment at the Walt Disney World Resort! He got to become close friends with several Disney characters! Through his experience, he has gained so much knowledge about what makes a character meet-and-greet truly magical! Danny shared his 6 tips to have the BEST character meet-and-greets!
Treat the Character like a Friend – NOT like a Celebrity!
Danny details that when you treat the character like an old friend rather than a famous celebrity you will create a much more relaxed meet-and-greet atmosphere which will allow you to engage in some more meaning conversations with the characters that create those really cool memories! Karen and Alyssa did a great job demonstrating an example of both and ‘ok’ and ‘AWESOME’ character meet-and-greet! You can see their example in the following YouTube video!
Get in Character Yourself!
Danny explains that a really unique way to interact with a character during a meet-and-greet can be to get into character along with the character. When you play into the characters story and acknowledge what you know from their world it can make for some really great interactions!
This tip is a very important one. If you wanted to do something such as give a character like Pluto a pet on his head, it is smart to fist ask the character if that would be ok. This way the character is aware, Danny explains that it can sometimes be hard for the character to feel or see what you are doing, so getting this permission from the character is very important.
Ask Characters Questions
Danny shares that one of the best ways to interact with the characters is by asking them questions about themselves! This sets up for really unique interactions! You can have very interesting conversations with many characters when using this tip! Danny also points out that with characters that are more quiet such as Chip and Dale it is a good idea to ask them some “yes” or “no” type of questions to help them best communicate.
Another fun way to interact with the characters that Danny shared was to give the character’s gifts! These small presents can really make the character’s day and will create some very special interactions. Danny mentioned a great gift might be a home-made drawing that your kids created prior to the trip to bring to their favorite character!
Say Thank You!
Danny shared that it truly means so much to the character when at the end of the interaction you give them a big hug and simply just say “thank you!” This can make the character’s day!
To hear more about each of these tips and to see Karen and Alyssa’s awesome mock character meet-and-greet, watch our new YouTube video!
A frequently asked question when planning a Walt Disney World Vacation is “what do I need to bring into the parks?” We all wonder about the dos and don’ts when it comes to packing our bag for inside the Disney Parks. I have been visiting Disney World and Disneyland for years and I am still perfecting my perfect park bag formula! It is great to learn from other frequent park-goers their tips and tricks when it comes to what to bring to the Disney Parks and the type of bag you should plan to use!
Recently Karen and Alyssa, two of our wonderful Kingdom Magic Vacations Travel Planners shared their top 5 tips for everything you need to know about what to bring in your Disney park bag! They detail the importance of picking the type of bag you might want to carry and provided us with great tips on how to consolidate and minimize your items when coming to the park. I loved hearing what items they recommended bringing to best enhance your day in the parks. They also detail some fun items you need to be sure to grab to add extra magic to your day such as ‘Celebration Buttons’ which you can pick up for free at any of the Disney Parks or Resorts!
These two Disney experts have a ton of great Disney bag tips and tricks for you to hear! Check out our YouTube Channel to watch them share their tips in our latest video!
Toy Story Land is the newest land to be added to the Walt Disney World Resort! This new land completely immerses you into Andy’s backyard! Every detail of this land has been designed to make you feel scaled to the size of a toy yourself! Toy Story Land is home to three attractions, two of which just debuted with the land’s opening!
Toy Story Mania
Toy Story Mania has been around at Hollywood Studios for several years and is loved by so many Disney Park-goers! Now with the opening of Toy Story Land, Toy Story Mania has been rerouted into the new land! This 3-D interactive ride takes you through a variety of carnival scenes featuring favorite midway games. Using your toy blaster you get to actually aim at targets and earn points! One scene you are throwing darts at balloons, the next you are throwing rings at those little green aliens! This attraction is so interactive and it is fun to compete against your friends and family to see who will get the best score!
Alien Swirling Saucers
The Alien Swirling Saucers attraction is one of the brand-new attractions to open along with the opening of Toy Story Land. This attraction is an adorable whip style ride featuring those lovable little green aliens, and of course… THE CLAW! As you spin and whip around in your rocket you will hear some of your favorite Toy Story songs played in a techno style!
Slinky Dog Dash
Slinky Dog Dash also made its debut along with the opening of Toy Story Land! This attraction has become an instant fan-favorite with guests! This family-friendly roller coaster looks as though Andy has crafted it himself using a dash and dodge coaster set and then attached Slinky Dog! This coaster is vibrant and filled with child-like wonder! You can ride it again and again and find new details!
In addition to these great new attractions, Toy Story Land is also home to new entertainment offerings and character meet and greet opportunities! With all the exciting new things to see and do in Toy Story Land it is safe to say that this brand-new land has been extremely popular with Disney guests! Since the land’s opening the attractions have consistently had long wait times. Fastpasses for the Toy Story Land attractions are extremely hard to achieve even for those staying on-property with the 60-day out booking window. Your Kingdom Magic Vacations Travel Planner is always happy to help you try to score one of these coveted Fastpasses as soon as your booking window opens, but it can never be guaranteed due to these attraction’s popularity. Everyone wants to experience what Toy Story Land has to offer! However, we have some exciting news about how you can guarantee to enjoy everything in Toy Story Land and take in the new attractions with practically no crowds what so ever!
Early Morning Magic
Disney has recently added a new hard-ticketed event, Early Morning Magic in Toy Story Land! When purchasing a ticket to this special early morning event you get to go into Toy Story Land an hour and a half before the park opens and regular day guests are allowed in! Disney only sells a limited amount of tickets to each event, this way participants get to experience Toy Story Land with EXTREMELY LOW crowd levels! The event also includes a wonderful breakfast which features a selection of entrees as well as a buffet-style breakfast, all included with your ticket!
Some of our awesome Kingdom Magic Vacation’s Travel Planners and I recently attended Early Morning Magic in Toy Story Land for ourselves! We had the best time and all agreed that this experience is a wonderful value for the experience that you get! We were able to do every attraction in Toy Story Land multiple times! With less crowds, we were able to take in all of the details that can be found in Toy Story Land! We also enjoyed an awesome breakfast that was included in our ticket! All around we had the best time together! You feel like true VIPs getting exclusive access to Disney World’s most popular experiences!
You can enter the park at 7:00 and enter Toy Story Land itself at 7:30. With this event you get to enjoy being among the only people in Toy Story land from 7:30 – 9:00. Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 10:00. Our best advice that we found was to go to Toy Story Land first and spend the full amount of time in the land until regular day guests get to come in at 9:00. Then at 9:00 breakfast is still served for another hour so you can use this time to go eat and not feel like you are rushing through your meal.
We arrived to Hollywood Studios bright and early! We were able to enter the park a little before 7:00. We took our time to enjoy a very empty Hollywood Boulevard, a very rare sight to behold! We took a lot of awesome pictures with the help of some very fun cast members! They even took some selfies!
Once 7:00 hit, Cast Members were directing that we could head to the Backlot Express to start enjoying breakfast or wait by the Chinese Theatre to be allowed into Toy Story land at 7:30. If you remember our tip to spend the full time in Toy Story Land first, then I’m sure you can guess that is just what we did! We headed to the waiting area to get into the land and they actually let us in at exactly 7:17 rather than waiting until 7:30. Another reason to head to the land first!
Once in the land we went straight back to Slinky Dog Dash, the attraction we all were anticipating the most! After our first ride on Slinky we got straight back in line and by 7:30 we were already riding Slinky Dog Dash for the second time! Both times we didn’t even stop walking through the cue line the entire time! We were able to walk straight to the loading dock every time!
After our second time on Slinky Dog we then walked around the land taking in the many wonderful details! We also took tons of photos with no one in the background! The area was empty!
Next, we headed to Alien Swirling Saucers! Just like with our experience at Slinky Dog we walked right to the loading area with NO WAIT!
After Alien Swirling Saucers, we road Toy Story Mania! We had a blast all competing to see who would get the best score!
After our ride, we stopped off in the rides exit area to take photos next to the popsicle stick wall and the checkerboard wall! These are both popular Instagram spots! With the limited crowds, we were able to take our time and snap a lot of photos!
Next, we did a character meet and greet with Buzz Lightyear! No one was in line to see him and we were able to just walk right up! We got a big group shot with him as well as everyone in our party got their own pictures with Buzz! Since we were the only guests at the meet and greet at the time, Buzz was really able to take his time with us and it made for a very special experience!
Our Travel Planner Karen even asked Buzz if he could switch into Spanish Mode and he proceeded to flamenco with her! It was such an incredible interaction! We got great photos and videos from the moment which you can see in our new YouTube video!
After meeting Buzz and taking more picture throughout the land we headed back to Slinky Dog dash and rode the attraction for our third time! After that ride, we hoped right back in line and rode Slinky Dog Dash a fourth time! Just like before we had no wait and walked straight to the front of the line!
As 9:00 neared we decided we wanted to do Alien Swirling Saucers again! We headed back over to Alien Swirling Saucers and rode it for our second time that day!
Once we were finished riding Alien Swirling Saucers it was 9:00 and day guests were now being let into Toy Story Land. We then made our way out of the land and over to the Backlot Express for our complimentary breakfast! With this meal, you get to order an entrée as well as enjoy a buffet style breakfast featuring pastries and fruit. We found out you can actually order as many entrees as you want all included, so you can try everything if you really wanted to! Fountain drinks, juices and coffee are also included.
Our meal was incredible, I order the Avocado Smash Toast with a Baked Egg as well as the Fried Chicken and Doughnuts! Everything was delicious! The fact that this great meal is included in the price of your early Morning Magic Experience makes Early Morning Magic a great value!
We all agreed that Early Morning Magic in Toy Story Land was so worth it! The experience of having the land practically to ourselves made us feel so special! This offering is a great way to avoid the crowds and hours of waiting so that you can get to truly experience and appreciate every aspect of Toy Story land!
We filmed our experience during Early Morning Magic! Watch our new YouTube video to join us for the fun and all the laughs! Our Travel Planners love to work hard and play hard!

This week on Travel With Rick, we enjoy some great seafood at the Ramp in Cape Porpoise, Maine. We discovered this little restaurant / bar last year during our first trip up to Maine. Located underneath the main restaurant, Pier 77, you literally walk down the “ramp” to get to it. The decor is made up of old and new political and sports memorabilia, and serving up some of the finest seafood anywhere!
Famous for their lobster roll and seafood stew, our favorites, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
