Dining at Toledo at Disney’s Grand Destino Tower

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort recently went through many exciting enhancements! The biggest of these enhancements being the addition of Gran Destino Tower. This new tower is home to 545 guest rooms. Fifty of these guest rooms being suites. The tower is beautiful! Here you will find rich touches of Spanish architecture mixed with a fresh, modern and contemporary feel!

Our team stayed at Disney’s Coronado Springs on our most recent company event last month. We loved taking in the beauty of this resort during our time there and getting to explore the luxurious new Gran Destino Tower.

At the very top of Gran Destino tower sits a new Disney restaurant, Toledo! Toledo is known for their great Tapas, Steak & Seafood. This luxurious restaurant is themed after a Spanish haven inspired by surrealist art and the 1930s avant-garde. This restaurant has a very relaxed feel to it. It is classic and sophisticated, yet still so warm and inviting all at the same time.

By far my favorite part of this amazing restaurant was the views! Being on the top floor of Gran Destino Tower you can enjoy views all over Disney World property. It very much reminded me of the experience of being at one of my other favorite Disney restaurants, the California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Similar to how Toledo sits at the top of Gran Destino Tower, the California Grill sits on the top floor of the Contemporary Resort. If you have ever dined at the California Grill then you will know that the views from the top are simply breathtaking. Out the restaurant’s windows you can see gorgeous views of Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, the Magic Kingdom Resorts and even over into Magic Kingdom Park!

From Toledo, you get that same feeling as over at California Grill with the beautiful views this restaurant offers! At Toledo you get birds-eye views of a whole different area of property. Here at this location you are close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. You can see some of the icons of these nearby parks from up above! I loved at night spotting the tall pieces of rock work in the distance that are a part of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge over at Hollywood Studios. At night, these rock formations of the land are all illuminated in a purple color. It was so cool seeing this from up at Toledo.

The menu here has something for everyone. They are known for their steak and seafood. So, whether you are in the mood for surf or turf you will find something you like here! I can’t wait to get back to Toledo soon for the great food and spectacular views!

Video Tour – Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort!

Recently I visited Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort for the first time ever! I fell in love with the romantic Spanish colonial architecture, the peaceful grounds and all the amenities this moderate resort has to offer! There truly is so much to take in at this beautiful Disney Resort! The dining options are endless! Everything from grab-and-go items, quick service entrees, fine dining table service meals, just to name a few! There are also several bars and lounges to relax and kick back during your vacation!

As I mentioned, instantly upon my first visit here to walk around and tour the property… I was hooked! That’s why I am so excited because as a company this fall, our group will all be staying here at Coronado Springs for a company event! I am so excited to experience actually staying here as a guest during this time!

I really loved getting to see the construction for Gran Destino Tower! Gran Destino Tower is a brand-new part of Disney’s Coronado Springs! It features even more luxury accommodations! At the time of me touring Coronado Springs and taking the following video footage it was last month in May. You can see in the video that Gran Destino Tower was still getting some finishing touches. The tower actually opens NEXT MONTH in July! So exciting! I am looking forward to checking out the rooftop restaurant that will be at the top of Gran Destino Tower!

I was so impressed with Coronado Springs! I am excited to get to stay here for myself this fall! For now, let’s go on a tour together of what Coronado Springs has to offer! I am excited to take you along through this video montage tour!

A look at the Newly Re-Imagined Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World!

When you are planning your next Walt Disney World vacation and are looking for a resort, you should consider the newly reimagined Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.  This resort is architecturally stunning.  It is truly an oasis set on the shore of Lago Dorado.  This resort celebrates the Spanish history of artists, writers and architects.  The resort is themed with classic Spanish influences along with Disney touches and modern comforts for your relaxation and enjoyment.

You will be impressed as soon as you walk into the resorts grand 2-story lobby which is decorated with rows of hanging lanterns which gives a subtle lighting on the beautiful Spanish tiling.

Outside you will find a hub of activity.  Here you will find Three Bridges Bar & Grill which is opening soon, a lakefront restaurant with wonderful cuisine and an inviting atmosphere featuring a stone hearth at the central bar and a glowing fire pit for the evenings where you can sit back and enjoy a refreshing beverage.

If you love pool time then this is the resort for you.  The aquatic area is built around a 50-foot replica of a Mayan pyramid.  The water streams down the steps of the stone structure into the Lost City of Ciola pool.  The water slide here is quite impressive, kids and kids at heart will love it.  You’ll also want to check out the hot tub which is the largest at a Walt Disney World resort.  Other activities in this area include a playground for the kids, ping pong tables, a fun arcade, volleyball court and pool bar!  If all the walking around Walt Disney World is not enough activity for you then head over to the resort Fitness Center which is open 24-hours and has a range of spa and beauty services.

The Grand Destino Tower will be open this summer so you can be among the first to enjoy these new rooms.  Atop this 15-story tower will be a restaurant, Toledo will serve up tapas, steak and seafood.  To compliment your meal you can choose from a wide selection of wines from Spain and California.

In the main building of the Coronado Springs Resort you will find many food options.  Maya Grill is an upscale Tex-Mex eatery and steakhouse.

El Mercado de Coronado is a counter service/food court area serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner and a great place to pick up a late night snack on your way back to your room after a day at the parks.  Café Rix is the spot to grab pastries, cakes, gelatos, gourmet coffee and smoothies.

Right off the lobby you will find Panchito’s Gifts and Sundries filled with souvenirs, native crafts and much more.  A great place to shop for a special item to take home or to pick up something that you might have forgot to pack.

Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, to Open July 2019 along with 2 new Disney Restaurants!

Disney’s Coronado Springs resort is a popular Disney World Resort Hotel choice for both Convention guests and vacationers alike! This Disney Moderate Resort offers luxurious amenities and is themed with Spanish influences! The resort is themed to transport guests to the shore of Lago Dorado. The resort pulls design inspiration from the influence of the great Spanish explorers, artists, writers and architects. Capturing that same adventurous spirit in the resort’s details, Disney Coronado Springs will make you feel like you are on a tropical vacation within your vacation!

Soon there will be even more to love at Disney’s Coronado Springs! Soon the resort will welcome the addition of a new tower, as well as a new full service dining location! Along with the addition the resort will also receive a complete remodel of the current resort rooms! With the changes, Coronado Springs has now moved to the top of Disney World’s Moderate resort price category range. This means that out of all the Disney World Moderate resorts this one is now the closest to a Deluxe resort, making it a great option for someone looking for more luxury but wanting to stay in a budget.

A while back Disney shared artist renderings of Coronado Springs exciting expansion! The expansion project is currently underway at the resort! This week, the Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman with Disney Parks, Bob Chapek revealed more exciting details about the reimagining! The first detail being the name of the new 15-story tower that will soon become the centerpiece of the resort. The tower will be called the Gran Destino Tower.

The Gran Destino Tower, will be complete in July of 2019! This summer! The Gran Destino Tower will become the new main entrance for guests as they visit the resort. This new tower will bring the addition of 545 new guest rooms, including 50 suites to the Coronado Springs! The tower will feature a beautiful two-story lobby! I personally am most excited for the themed table-service restaurant that will be on the top floor of Gran Destino Tower!

The restaurant will be home to delicious food and incredible views of the Walt Disney World Resort property! One of my favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World is the California Grill which sit on the top floor of Disney Contemporary Resort. The California Grill not only has amazing food but the views from the restaurant are absolutely perfect! You can see directly over to the Magic Kingdom and you can enjoy the best spot in the house to have a birds-eye view of the fireworks! From the description of this new restaurant that will sit high atop the Gran Destino Tower, I am very much reminded of California Grill! This has me very excited to check this place out as soon as it opens. I have a feeling the views will be breathtaking! This will give a birds-eye view of a whole new area of Disney property. Coronado Springs is close to Epcot so I have a feeling this new dining location will serve as a great spot to watch the new nighttime show that will be coming to Epcot in 2019!

In addition to the restaurant on the top floor of the Gran Destino Tower, a second new restaurant is planned to open at the resort as well! This restaurant will sit on an island in the middle of the resort’s 14-acre lake, Lago Dorado, with new walkways stretching across the water, making it convenient to access no matter where guests are staying at the resort. A new and fresh color palette will bring the entire resort experience together and blend the new and the newly reimagined! At the reimagined Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort guests will discover a blend of both classic Spanish influences along with imaginative Disney touches and modern comforts!

Bookings are now available for the Gran Destino Tower for stays beginning in July of 2019! Contact your Kingdom Magic Vacations Travel Planner today to book your next vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort or to whatever destination you are dreaming of next!

Please Pardon Our Bus’s Dust – Guest Blog Post

One thing that you can count on when it comes to Disney is that they’re always trying to improve Walt Disney World in some manner, shape, or form.  Our last trip to Orlando was no different.

As we arrived at the Magic Kingdom, we discovered that a mammoth construction wall had been built between the bus stop and Seven Seas Lagoon.

I don’t know about you, but curiosity ‘kills’ this ‘cat’, so, as usual, I went in search of answers.  What in “The World” we’re they up to now?

In most cases, all you need is a friendly Cast Member and a few minutes of their time to chat.  This time, the bus driver that chauffeured us back to our resort fit the bill.  Folks, when it comes to “The Wall”, a new bus loop is being built.  It will be the Magic Kingdom’s third bus stop and will be tailored specifically for WDW’s twelve, soon-to-be new, articulated buses.

If you aren’t familiar with articulated buses, they are essentially double-buses that comprise two rigid (bus) sections linked by a pivoting joint.  Think of a two-piece bus that bends in the middle!

Articulated buses, obviously, come with a higher passenger capacity, while still allowing the bus to maneuver adequately on the roads, and, boy, does Disney have the right task in mind.  These buses are mainly targeted for use to service the massive crowds of guests that stay at Disney’s Value resorts – Pop Century, Art of Animation, and the three All-Stars.  Given the long lines we’ve waited in when we’ve stayed at any of those places, this is very appropriate, let me tell you.

Could these tandem buses be used to pick up and deliver guests elsewhere?  Our driver speculated as to the potential for use at Port Orleans but was unsure as to whether or not they would have room to maneuver.  I would ask the same about Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs, perhaps.

It is expected that a select portion of the driver force will be trained to drive these types of buses in the near future.

Our Cast Member was full of other prospective details, as well.  For example, Disney is evidently expanding their team of drivers.  Currently at about 1,600 drivers, they are, allegedly, trying to grow the force to near 2,000.  Plus, clearing up another misconception (that I had, at least), the resort bus drivers ARE Disney Cast Members.  We had thought that WDW had out-sourced their various bus services to Mears Transportation Group a long time ago.  Apparently, only Disney’s Magical Express and the Disney Cruise Line drivers are employed by Mears.  And, according to that Cast Member, Disney might be taking those drivers back into the fold!

Have you already heard the stories (and seen the pictures) of Disney’s new paint scheme for the WDW resort buses?  It is a ‘red and silver’ style that has been applied to two buses already, according to our bus driver.

In addition, when it comes to the resort buses, WDW is angling to add 40 of the new-style buses to their fleet.  You know the ones … they’re “boxy” in shape with a big wide aisle down the middle and seats against the side of the bus.

In the meantime, all but six of Disney’s older buses will be retired.  Those few will be kept to help out in peak seasons.

What do you think, folks?  Have you seen the buses with the new red and silver paint scheme as yet?  What do you think about the idea of using articulated buses to service the Value resorts?

Relax, Rejuvenate & Unwind at Disney Resort Fitness Centers, Spas & Salons at Walt Disney World Resort

Did you know that Disney’s Yacht & Beach Ship Shape Massage Salon & Fitness Center just underwent a major renovation? It is sparkling with a modern, yet warm, motif that complements the nautical resort. There are five treatment rooms and even a relaxation room for the ultimate in lounging.

Relax, Rejuvenate & Unwind at Disney Resort Fitness Centers, Spas & Salons at Walt Disney World Resort

Around Disney property there are other facilities that offer traditional salon services, plus a limited menu of massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, plus a fitness center to soothe and unwind. Think of these offerings as a super convenient way to get a little “you time” right at your home resort.

Relax, Rejuvenate & Unwind at Disney Resort Fitness Centers, Spas & Salons at Walt Disney World Resort

All six locations are now owned and managed by Disney so that means a whole new menu of relaxing and pampering services with a dash of Disney in décor and guest service. Treatment hours are from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and salon hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Zahanati Massage & Fitness Center, Disney’s BoardWalk Muscles & Bustles Health Club, Disney’s Coronado Springs La Vida Health Club and Casa de Belleza Salon, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Sturdy Branches Health Club, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort Olympiad Fitness Center. And remember the spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is now closed for a major renovation and is scheduled to reopen in summer as the brand new Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. (The fitness center will remain opened with limited hours.)

For the ultimate in well-being, there’s also the newly opened Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
