NEW VIDEO: Taking it Slow: ‘World of Color’ at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort

In celebration of the three-year anniversary of “World of Color” this month, Disney tried out the slow-motion camera and had their crew tape some highlights from the ever-changing show. Nothing compares to seeing this spectacular in person; however, the video below gives a glimpse of the show from a whole new, multi-colored perspective.

Take a Sneak Peek Into Disneyland Newest Guided Tour “Cultivating the Magic”

Even if you don’t have a green thumb, there is a guided tour at Disneyland park that will really grow on you! It’s called “Cultivating the Magic.” During the two-hour tour, guests learn how the Disneyland Resort horticulture team uses flowers, plants and trees to help create the stories of each land. Tour guides also tell tidbits about Imagineer Bill Evans, the original creator of Disneyland’s landscape.

Disney took a camera crew on the tour and spoke with one of the tour’s developers, cast member Tyler Slater, to give you a glimpse into “Cultivating the Magic.”

To experience the tour for yourself, just let your Kingdom Magic Travel Agent know when you book your Disneyland vacation. Tickets are available up to one month in advance and the tour begins Saturdays and Sundays at 9 a.m. and Mondays at 10 a.m.

Taking the Disney Guest Experience to the Next Level

At Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, they continually push the boundaries of creativity and innovation to deliver the best possible experience for their guests. They’re always looking for ways to take what we do and do it even better. Over the past few years, they’ve devoted considerable time and resources to create a more immersive, more seamless and more personal experience for each and every guest who spends time with at the Disney Parks. I know there’s been significant speculation about these efforts among Disney fans, so we’re pleased to give you a glimpse into the work they are doing to take the entire Disney guest experience to the next level.

Haunted Mansion Interactive Queues at Walt Disney World

Some of these initiatives are more apparent and can already be seen by Disney guests – like the interactive queues at Walt Disney World® Resort and the Enchanted Art on Diseney cruise ships – while others are more behind-the-scenes and are focused on “how” visitors plan, access and enjoy their experiences with Disney. Over the next several months, Disney will be rolling out a collection of tools at the Walt Disney World Resort called MyMagic+ that will give guests more opportunities to customize and personalize their entire visit.
Like most people who visit Walt Disney World Resort, my family and I have our “must-do” attractions, and those attractions often end with the word “mountain.” Now, rather than dashing as a group, or even splitting up to gather FastPasses, imagine booking guaranteed ride times for your favorite shows and attractions even before setting foot in the park. With MyMagic+, guests will be able to do that and more, enabling them to spend more time together and creating an experience that’s better for everyone.

Guests use MyMagic+ at Disney Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World

A major component of MyMagic+ is the new My Disney Experience website and mobile app, which gives guests planning their trip the latest information on all Walt Disney World Resort has to offer. Disney knows that some people like to plan every aspect of their vacation in advance while others like to plan very little, letting their day unfold spontaneously. No matter where guests fall in that spectrum, My Disney Experience gives them the flexibility to plan as much or as little as they’d like to create the exact Disney experience they want. They can book dining and other experiences and reserve times for their favorite attractions, shows and more through an enhanced FASTPASS system, Disney’s FastPass®+ service. Once they arrive, they can use their smart phones to spontaneously change their plans in the moment, exploring our parks at their own pace and getting the most out of their visit.

A Guest Uses the MyMagic+ MagicBand at Walt Disney World Resort

Linking the entire MyMagic+ experience together is an innovative piece of technology Disney developed called the MagicBand. Worn on the wrist, it will serve as a guest’s room key, theme park ticket, access to Disney’s FastPass+ service selections, PhotoPass card and optional payment account all rolled into one. Disney began testing certain aspects of MyMagic+ in Florida last month and the early reactions they’ve gotten have been fantastic.’

This collection of tools is another step forward in the ongoing evolution of the Disney guest experience, giving Disney even more ways to help friends and family create the unforgettable Disney memories that they want most. Disney will be testing, adjusting and adding features to MyMagic+ and My Disney Experience over time and will continue to make improvements based on guests’ feedback. We look forward to sharing more with you in the months ahead!

Vintage Epcot: A Look Back at Horizons at Walt Disney World Resort

Let’s all take one big breath in and let it out slowly, because it’s time for a look back at…Horizons.

Although it’s now a thing of the past, Horizons, the attraction that took guests on “an exciting exploration of options for living and working in the 21st century,” continues to be an Epcot fan favorite today.

A Look Back at Horizons at Walt Disney World Resort

Called a “mind-boggling 15-minute journey” aboard a suspended vehicle, the first scene in Horizons was titled “Looking Back at Tomorrow” and offered a glimpse at past visionaries and views of yesterday’s future. Included in this area is one of the most iconic figures in Horizons, the Robot Butler.

Horizons also took guests to Nova Cite a community of the future where the use of a “holographic telephone” helped families keep in touch.

Designed over a three-year period at Walt Disney Imagineering in California, one memorable part about Horizons was the choose-your-own ending to the journey via personal spacecraft, desert hovercraft or mini-submarine.

It doesn’t matter where I am at; the smell of citrus will always evoke fond memories of Horizons.
