Today in Disney history is a milestone for Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, which opened its doors on April 1, 1995. In honor of the anniversary, here are 10 fun facts about this place. Summit Plummet, the park’s signature attraction, measures 120 feet tall. The park’s storyline described the park as being Florida’s first ski resort – which quickly melted into a fun water park due to the temperature. One of the “ski resort” elements that still remains is a chair lift, which takes guests from the beach to the top of Mt. Gushmore. The park debuted an original character, Ice Gator, as part of it’s storyline. When it comes to speed, guests can slide up to 55 mph on Summit Plummet and 25 mph on the Downhill Double Dipper. Teamboat Springs is the world’s longest family raft ride. Up to six can ride per raft. Tike’s Peak, an area for young children, features a scaled-down version of Mt. Gushmore. Teamboat Springs features a 1,200-foot series of rushing waterfalls. One of the park’s more unusual snacks are mini donuts, which are prepared fresh and offered up with chocolate, white chocolate or raspberry dipping sauce. In 2012, the park joined 500 host locations to help set the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson.

Choosing The Right Disney Ticket

If you are getting ready for your first trip to Walt Disney World, chances are you’re very excited, but in order to make sure that your trip is memorable in a good way, it’s going to take a lot of planning. Other than booking your hotel and making travel plans, the most important part of your trip will be deciding what park passes to buy.

Disney offers many park pass options, there is the base ticket, the hopper, the water park option, the list seems to go on and on, but it really doesn’t have to be as confusing as it looks at first glance. Disney’s base ticket option will allow you to enter one park each day. Tickets range from a one day ticket all the way up to the ten day option, you are given absolute freedom in your choices of how to use it. With this choice, you can go in and out of the park of your choice as many times as you like, but you can’t go to any other park during that day.

Choosing the hopper option will allow you to visit all four parks during the same day if you choose. This might be an option for those who wish to visit attractions for younger kids during the day, and allow older children to choose a different park in the evening.

Whatever pass combination you choose, it can be upgraded at any time, as long as you have one day left on your ticket. For those planning a shorter stay, the base pass is a good choice because while you can always upgrade, you won’t have your money refunded after the ticket is already purchased.
