 Fulton’s
Crab House is a large ferry boat that sits on the lake in the
Downtown Disney Marketplace. There are three levels of the boat,
which all provide views of the lake activity. Since it was such a
beautiful day, we decided that we would sit on the top level. The
restaurant has a very classy feel, from the dark wood architecture
to the white-wash uniforms of the waiters and other employees. We
were soon seated right next to a window overlooking the lake and
across it, Disney’s newest resort, Saratoga Springs.
Our waiter Angelo was soon at our
service, and recommended the chef’s selection of the day, Flounder
with Rock Shrimp, which my dining companion eagerly accepted as his
entrée, while I stood firm with my decision on the Dungeness Crab
Club Sandwich. As we waited for our choices, we feasted on the warm
bread and seafood dip that we brought. The dip nice and light, so we
didn’t feel worried we would be filled before our main course
arrived. As we waited for our entrées, we further enjoyed our view.
From our vantage, we could see the whole of the Downtown Disney
Marketplace, as well as deep into the heart o Pleasure Island.
But this could only entertain us for
so long. We became very dissatisfied (and hungry) after we waited
almost forty minutes, but our meals finally arrived. We were not
disappointed in them, but we were overly impressed either. My
sandwich came topped with bacon, field greens, tomatoes, and a light
citrus mayonnaise. It was accompanied by rosemary potato chips,
which were very tasty. My dining partner’s meal, the Flounder with
Rock Shrimp, came topped with a butter sauce and presented very
nicely. Although our food was satisfactory at this dining
experience, our stomachs were made sour by the long wait time of our
meals.
