  Tusker House
Located in Disney's Animal Kingdom
Lunch

If you’re looking for spot to get out of the African sun and grab a bite to eat, Tusker house is the perfect place. Located in Harambe village in the African territory of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, this counter service restaurant blends right in with the authentic style buildings, so keep you eye out for it.

When you first enter, you will be received into a large open hall which houses eight or so order lines. In the adjoining two rooms you will find ample seating arrangements, and there are even tables with umbrellas outside if you prefer to eat under the weather. Now this is a popular lunch eatery, so you might want to arrive a little early if you want to beat the crowd. Unfortunately, we did not follow our own advice and wound up waiting in line about twenty minutes. To make up for it, the meal was great. As we stood in line we spied the menu and tried to decide what we would order. I originally wanted to go with the Turkey Wrap, but I watched a person carry it to their table and it looked more like a “lettuce” wrap than a turkey one. I finally decided on the Tusker House Chicken Salad with Chocolate Cake for dessert, while my dining partner chose the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Carrot Cake.

It only took us a minute to find a table, and then we were digging into our food. My salad was filled with a great mix of greens, croutons, an immense amount of chicken and topped with a light vinaigrette dressing. My chocolate cake was also a bit tastier than I was expecting. The Fried Chicken Sandwich my companion ordered came topped with the standard lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise, and was accompanied by large French fries. Both of these items were great. Now I’m not one for carrot cake, but this one was quite good. The servings we received were absolutely perfect for lunch. They filled our stomachs without overloading us.

The Tusker house is also a great lunch location because during the afternoon hours there is usually some kind of entertainment just outside, so when you are finished with you meal, you can rest for a while outside with a bit of fun to keep you company. As for the menu, here is a look at what you might encounter:
