As you might imagine, on board the Disney Magic or Disney Wonder there are a wide array of
activities that will amaze and entertain your children for the entire voyage.
There is almost an entire deck devoted to children with over 50 fun-loving and
highly-trained Disney counselors.
That's more than any other ship afloat!
When you first sign your kids up, you pick a password that only you know. Your child is then given a wrist band that
identifies them, and allows the Disney cast to know who is in the program and who is with Mom or Dad. When you drop
your child off, they log them in, and only you can pick them up, because you must know the password to pick up. You are also given a
pager that is good through the entire ship, Castaway Cay, and parts of Nassau. This way if your child wishes to be picked
up, or the cast needs to reach you, they just page you with a message. Disney takes child care and security very seriously.
Disney's Oceaneer's Club is designed for 3-7 year olds. When you check your kids in you will be delighted
with the thoughtfulness that has gone into the layout of this area. It is designed to look like Captain Hook's ship,
complete with cannons that have sound effects, crow's nests for lookouts, and ceilings pained with Disney characters as
star constellations. There are costume rooms for character dress ups, story times, and yes, you can count on some
character "drop-bys"!
Disney's Oceaneer's Lab is for 8-12 year olds. It is themed with Toy Story characters all around.
More high-tech in atmosphere and surroundings, there are planned activities and events throughout the day to
ensure that your kids will enjoy their vacation as much as you do. In the lab there is a large round table with
many computers labs set up with a variety of activities and programs to entertain the kids. A life-size Buzz character
is in the center of this station to welcome and challenge all. There are also adventures with microscopes, lab experiments, and group
explorations taking place throughout the day.
The Disney Cruise Line kids programs are wonderfully designed to ensure that your kids can join in the fun for as long as
they like. In fact, convincing them to leave is about the only thing you'll have to worry about!
Disney Tip: On embarkation (arrival on the ship) day, once you are settled into your stateroom, take the
kids to visit the clubs. Particularly if they are small, or take some time getting used to new surroundings. This way, you can
register them for the programs and they can get a feel for the new surroundings and counselors. This
way when you bring them back you can enjoy a Mom-Dad only dinner, or an after dinner show because
the kids are ready to get into the program! And, you don't feel like you are just dumping them off!
