Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom, which
weighs in at a little over 100 acres first began treating guests to its
special combination of adventure and fantasy on October 1st, 1971. Since
that opening day countless guests young and old from all over the world
have enjoyed and experienced the many sights and sounds of this park. The
Magic Kingdom perhaps more than any of the other Walt Disney World theme
parks epitomizes the magic that is Disney. |

“to
all who come to this happy place…” Roy Disney Oct, 1971
Whether it is the nostalgic tribute to the turn of the century Middle
America, the salute to our earliest days as a nation, the old west
presented as we would like to remember it or the adventure of a
tropical land the allure of this “the most magical place on earth”
has endured for more than a generation.
Excuse me but can you tell me how to get to…?
With its spoke and wheel design the layout is deceivingly simply.
Guests after they pass down Main Street U.S.A. with its shops and
restaurants will find themselves entering the hub, which features
Cinderella Castle.
From there guests can choose from any of the six lands that lead
away from Cinderella’s Castle. Each land that awaits you will allow
you to leave behind the ordinary and experience something really
quite extraordinary. |

You may ride in either direction down Main Street, U.S.A. |
|
|
|

Jungle Cruise
Travel on the rivers of three different continents. See exotic animals,
zany explorers and ancient ruins as your skipper leads you deep into the
jungle. Be prepared for surprises along the way; your skipper's sure to
regale you with humorous tales of danger.
Long been considered a must see this perennial favorite is however
beginning to show its age. An outdoor jungle cruise that works its way
through a twisting and winding waterway, while the cast member skipper
entertains guests with often funny or at least amusing patter. For an
enhanced experience and one in which this attraction’s age will not be as
apparent try it at night.

|
| Disney
Tip:
Don't worry. The hippos aren't dangerous unless they wiggle
their ears! Walt Disney
originally intended the Jungle Cruise to be roaming with live
animals. It wasn't until he realized that he couldn't control the
animals' sleeping habits that he realized he could tell a better
story using Audio-Animatronics. |
|
|
|
| Trivia Note:
The first version of the Jungle Cruise was very serious, based on
Walt Disney's True Life Adventure Series. It wasn't until a few
years later that the humorous vignettes were added. Cast member skippers of the Jungle Cruise fire off over 600,000
rounds of blank ammunition each year. |

Pirates Of The Caribbean
First the attraction inspired the movie — now the movie is inspiring the
attraction! Get ready to set sail on this boisterous boat ride to
discover Captain Jack and his nemesis Barbossa interacting with some of
the more familiar Audio-Animatronics® buccaneers and adding a terrific
twist to the adventure — along with new special effects. The exciting
enhancements to this classic Disney attraction are another great reason
to join the Happiest Celebration On Earth!
The Pirates' Life for You!
Captain Jack Sparrow will be on hand to lead lighthearted "pirate
training." Kids will be invited to join the fun, interactive hi-jinks at
various times daily, beginning July 7 through the end of August, 2006.
Yo ho, yo ho! A pirate's life for me! Take a wild voyage through
secret caverns and fierce sea battles as you join the rowdiest rogues and
rapscallions that ever sacked the Spanish Main. It's a boat ride through
classic Disney swashbuckling adventures. Sail these treacherous waters in
search of pirate booty, but be warned: "dead men tell no tales!"
|
|
|
|
Disney Trivia: You depart through an 18th century Spanish
fortress known as "El Castillo — Torre del Sol" (The Castle —
Fortress of the Sun). This
was originally envisioned as a walk-through until Walt Disney saw
the possibilities presented by the boats in Disney's "it's a small
world" attraction at the 1964 New York World's Fair.
Pirates of the Caribbean was on the drawing board for years as a
walkthrough attraction. Walt Disney decided to use a boat system
similar to the one that had been so successful for "it's a small
world."
Pirates of the Caribbean was the
last theme park show that was personally supervised by Walt Disney.
This beloved attraction is one of
the few attractions featured at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Tokyo
Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris.

Disney Trivia: This is one of the original attractions at
the Magic Kingdom® Park which opened on October 1, 1971.
This attraction is inspired by Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln that
Disney produced for the 1964-65 World's Fair in New York.
President Lincoln's dialog is based on excerpts from several of his
actual speeches.
President George W.
Bush and former President Bill Clinton personally recorded their own
dialog for this show.
The suit that the Audio-Animatronics figure of President George W.
Bush wears is based on his preferences - dark blue with a white
shirt - and had to be specially made. |

where there's "always room for one more." Inside, hop on a Doom Buggy to

and hitchhiking ghosts in this Disney classic. Perhaps no other attraction at Walt Disney World rivals the attention
to detail and the special effects seen in this long time favorite. Younger children are often more frighten by the pre-show than
anything actually experienced during the ride itself.

| Disney
Tip:
This is a great attraction to visit early in the morning or
during parades since it is very popular. Often times it is debated as to whether Dumbo is worth the wait.
It’s your vacation you be the judge. One thing that can help is the
“Chuck Bubba Relay” as described in Bob Sehlinger’s book “The
Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World” It is performed as follows:
One parent will wait in line with bubba. The other parent allows a
certain number of people to get in front of them (30 in the case of
Dumbo) and then gets in line. When Bubba finishes his ride they then
exit and little Bubba is passed to the other parent. Bubba can enjoy
two Dumbo’s for the price of one wait.
Look for the nearby trio of
elephant topiaries. |

much fun that you are sure to "quack" up.
Kids are automatically drawn to this interactive fountain and playground
featuring a very leaky boat owned by Donald. They can be seen and heard

The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm
Climb aboard Goofy's crop-duster for a ride around the cornfields.
This kooky kid-friendly coaster is a kick! Take off from Goofy's barn, zip
your way around a fun-filled course and see if you can make a landing
without setting off those chickens!
This creatively themed and visually appealing attraction draws kids to
it like a magnet, which makes it hard to pass up.
Very short roller coaster ride that clocks in at just under 60 seconds of
thrill. This less than a minute of Disney magic can cost upwards of an
hour or more wait during peak times. Now your rational mind might be
telling you that it is simply not worth the wait.
However, unless you want to come off like the Grinche that stole Disney
you can either lie to your children by telling them that Mickey’s Toontown
suffered a terrible industrial accident and will be closed for the
duration of their childhood or you can beat it over to this attraction
just as early as you can.
Height Requirement: 35 inches / 89 cm
|
| Disney
Note: On a recent trip to Walt Disney World we endured the wait
at the Barnstormer and when it was our turn found ourselves seated
in the second row. Much to our surprise and delight Goofy himself
came up the exit ramp and jumped in the seat in front of us. Well
needless to say that this was one minute of magic that our four-year
old is still talking about. |

1.5-mile, 20 minute journey around the park. Disembark this authentic
steam-powered locomotive on Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland or Mickey's
Toontown Fair. All aboard!
|
| Disney
Tip:
Use the Walt Disney World Railroad to get from land to land. The
train stops near most lands in the park. |
|
|
|
| |
|
Disney Trivia: The four trains are named Lilly Belle (named
for Walt Disney's wife Lillian), Roy O. Disney (Walt's brother),
Roger E. Broggie (Disney Imagineer) and Walter E. Disney.
Walt Disney was a great train
aficionado. He had a train, the Carolwood Pacific, in the backyard
of his California home. His wife Lillian didn't object to Walt
building a railroad in their backyard as long as he didn't disturb
her flower garden. Walt built a tunnel so the trains wouldn't
disturb her roses. |
