Attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2019!

Last month while visiting Walt Disney World, I attended my first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for the 2019 season! Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a wonderful, festive event that is sure to put you in the Halloween spirit!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is an extra-ticketed event that takes place on select nights at the Magic Kingdom Park. The event features special Halloween stage shows, dance parties, rare character meet and greets, a special Halloween Parade, exclusive Halloween fireworks show, trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom, specialty treats and merchandise for purchase, and more!

My group and I had a wonderful time attending the party this year! Here’s my list of highlights from my own experience at the event!

Group Costume

At Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party guests can choose to come dressed in Halloween costumes if they want to! I had never dressed up myself when attending the party in the past but had always wanted to. The costumes are one of my favorite parts of the party. I love walking around the park and spotting other guests costumes! Everyone gets so into it and has such a great time. It is a wonderful environment to be apart of! This year I was so thrilled to get in on the fun of wearing a costume for myself! My group and I all dressed up as Star Wars characters. It truly did add another layer of fun to the evening! We met so many great people who stopped us to comment on our costumes and even take our picture!

New Fireworks

This year Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party saw the premiere of a brand new Halloween fireworks show! I was always a fan of the previous Halloween Party fireworks but this new show definitely topped it! The special effects used in the show were outstanding! My favorite part was the projections on the castle! There was one particular part that I loved where through projection mapping they made the castle look like a haunted mansion! It was incredible!

Live Actors in Pirates of the Caribbean

One of the many offerings during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party is attraction overlays. This is when Disney adds a bit of extra magic into a Disney ride. One of these attraction overlays takes place at Pirates of the Caribbean! When you ride this attraction during the Halloween Party you will spot real pirates on the actual ride! This overlay first premiered at last year’s Halloween Party and I am so happy that it has come back again. This year you will find even more live pirates throughout the ride!

Deep Space Mountain

Space Mountain is a Walt Disney World classic coaster! So many fans like myself know and love this ride! During Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Space Mountain becomes Deep Space Mountain! Another exciting attraction overlay! In Deep Space Mountain you can experience riding Space Mountain completely in the pitch black! This coaster is already dark but during the party there are absolutely no lights not even in the tunnels! It makes the experience even more thrilling!

Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade

Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade is an exclusive Halloween Parade that takes place during Halloween Party nights! This parade received several new updates this year. There is now a show segment that represents each land in the Magic Kingdom! I love this concept! My personal favorite addition to this parade is during the Haunted Mansion segment! The bride from the haunted Mansion has been added and she actually glides down the parade route! It is something you truly have to see in person!

Watch our new YouTube video to see some highlights from Mickey’s not so scary Halloween Party:

Walt Disney World Baby Care Centers

If you are traveling to Walt Disney World with a baby or toddler, you will want to be aware that each Walt Disney World Park offers a Baby Care Center.  These centers offer so much and will make traveling with your baby so much easier.  It can get really hot in the parks and these centers offer the perfect place to cool off and take care of your little one.

Kitchens in these facilities have baby care items for purchase.  This makes things very convenient and a life safer if you forgot to pack an essential item.  The centers offer Carnation Good Start Formulas, Gerber foods and juices, bottles, nipples, Huggies diapers and wipes, lotions, sunscreen and some over the counter medications for children.  The kitchen area has a microwave, small sink and ample counter space.  You will also find a private nursing room with electrical outlets for the mother that needs to use a breast pump.

In these centers you will also find rocking chairs, changing tables and high chairs.  There is a television and small tables and chairs for your older children to utilize.  Each center varies in size with Disney’s Hollywood Studios being the smallest.  This center does not sell baby care needs but these items can be found for purchase at the Movieland Gift shop located to the left of Guest Relations.

Disney Water Parks and Disney Springs Area does not have a dedicated Baby Center, but you will find baby-changing stations in all the restrooms.

Parents with youngsters will find these centers a great place to stop during a hot busy day.  It is a great area to take care of your child in a cool comfortable location and get recharged for more fun in the park!

My Experience in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge!

It’s official! Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is here! This incredibly immersive new land is now officially open to all guests at both the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando Florida as well as the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim California. After literally years of anticipation and waiting we can now all travel to the land planet of Batuu (the name of the planet depicted in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge) whenever we want!

I just returned from a Disney mega trip where I started in Walt Disney World in Florida then travel to Disneyland in California and then straight back to Walt Disney World! It was so much fun and Galaxy’s Edge was the common theme during this entire trip! When my trip began in Florida, I got to celebrate my birthday by attending a preview of Galaxy’s Edge a little over a week out from the land’s actual opening. I was in awe! Galaxy’s Edge is truly unlike anything else!

After checking in for the preview my group and I stood in front of the tunnel for a moment – the tunnel that serves as the entrance way into Galaxy’s Edge. I remember feeling in such disbelief that this was all real! I couldn’t believe that I could actually now walk through that archway! For years, I saw the very archway with scrim and boards all around it, blocking it off from guest. Now the day had finally arrived that we could actually step inside the land!

Once you step through the entrance tunnel the tiling and cement around you slowly fade into vibrant rock formations. The transition is seamless and so well done. You feel as though you really are stepping into a whole other planet! Disney did such an amazing job create a completely immersive experience with Galaxy’s Edge. You forget you are still in Hollywood Studios! Actually, at one point at the end of our visit in Batuu, one of the members of my group made the comment that we could head back into Hollywood Studios. We were all amazed because it is so true that this land makes you feel completely transported somewhere else. Even though you are still in Hollywood Studios, you somehow separate the two, because Galaxy’s Edge feels almost like a whole other park on its own!

During my visits to both Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World and Disneyland, I had a few different opportunities to ride the attraction here in the land, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. This ride gives you and your flight crew the chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon for yourself! What I love most about this ride is how genuine of an experience it is. You really are flying the ship! You can have an extremely successful mission based on your skills or you may crash the ship a couple of times! The ride is completely interactive!

Check out our new YouTube video for a taste of what this incredible attraction is like!

On December 5th at Walt Disney World and January 17th at Disneyland, the second attraction in Galaxy’s Edge will open! This second attraction will be called Rise of the Resistance. I am so excited to experience this ride! We know that this ride will actually be several different experiences all rolled into one attraction. Making this ride more like a journey rather than a ride! Disney has stated that the technology being developed in this ride will be groundbreaking! I am so ready to experience Rise of the Resistance for myself!

I am so happy that Galaxy’s Edge is now fully open and ready for guest enjoyment! Contact your Kingdom Magic Vacations Travel Planner today to plan your next Disney vacation and experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for yourself!

New Scare Zones Coming To Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights!

A frightfully fun part of Halloween is strolling the streets and seeing all the ghouls and goblins out and about! At Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights, the park give that concept a twisted spin with scare zones jam packed with terrifying monsters and demented fiends. At this year’s Halloween Horror Nights, five scare zones will be featured in Universal Studios Florida. Additionally the Academy of Villains, a fan favorite show will return with an all-new powerhouse show! Let’s look at some of the details for each of the scare zones coming to this years event.

Zombieland Double Tap

Now is the time to keep in mind those rules of survival. Based on the hit film and its upcoming sequel, this scare zone puts you in the middle of the United States of Zombieland. The infection has spread and bloodthirsty zombies are everywhere you turn. The most important rule to remember: Always double tap!

Rob Zombie Hellbilly Deluxe

You may be familiar with his music, now it’s time to actually live it. You will get to walk into the heavy metal horror of Rob Zombie’s music and imagery in this pulse-pounding scare zone. From otherworldly beings to brutal maniacs, guests will come face-to-face with his twisted creations as the music cranks to a frenzy.

Anarch-cade

With this scare zone an 80s-inspired arcade has taken over Avenue of the Stars. At first glance, you may think it’s a party. However, you quickly learn that “Game Over” means a permanent end for you. A gang of neon slashers are out to play and this is one game you won’t want to lose.

Vanity Ball

You may be familiar with the expression: Beauty is pain. This scare zone takes that literally. In the streets of Hollywood, your flesh becomes the canvas as blade-wielding artists slice up willing participants into horrific living works of art. Here, going under the knife takes on a whole other meaning.

Vikings Undead

You might be familiar with the brutal Viking warriors. It’s terrifying enough thinking about facing them alive. Now picture facing them as the undead. They have risen and laid siege to Central Park with an onslaught of gore. Bloodlust never dies.

Everything You Need To Know About The Disney Dining Plan!

So you’re planning for your Walt Disney World vacation and trying to make a budget for how much money you will spend in while in Disney World.  One of the biggest expenses you will have is food for your family.  One way to make sure that your food is budgeted in before you even leave is to add on the Disney Dining Plan.  This plan is available for resort guests who book a Resort Hotel Package.

The Disney Dining Plan will purchase you a certain number of meals for each day of your vacation.  Each person on your reservation will receive an allotment of quick service meals, which are like your fast food meals, table service or sit down meals, and snacks.  The number of meals you get will depend on the Dining Plan that you choose.  There are three plans to choose from, The Quick Service Dining Plan, The Regular Dining Plan and the Deluxe Dining Plan.  Let us take a look at what each plan offers and the price currently for 2019 so you can determine if one of these plans works best for your family and how you usually like to eat.

Quick Service Dining Plan

-2 quick service meals

-2 snacks

-1 refillable mug

Cost is $52.50 per night for Adults 10 year and older and $23.78 for children 3-9 years of age

Regular Dining Plan

-1 table-service meal

-1 quick-service meal

-2 snacks

If you purchase the dining plan it will be very easy to use.  Your MagicBand or card that Disney gives you when you book your trip will have all your credits loaded on it and will electronically monitor what you use during your vacation.  At the end of each meal your receipt you receive will show you the number of meals remaining for each room on your booking.  This will help you keep track of you balance.  You can redeem your meals and snacks in any order during your trip until your balance is zero or until midnight of the night you check out.

The Disney Parks go all out around the holidays adding specialty decorations and even exclusive festive events to celebrate the season! During the fall on select nights Magic Kingdom hosts a delightful Halloween bash known as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! Frights and Sounds of the Season! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Brings Spooktacular Fun for the Entire Family to Magic Kingdom

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party features special Halloween stage shows, dance parties, rare character meet and greets, a special Halloween Parade, exclusive Halloween fireworks show, trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom, specialty treats and merchandise for purchase, and more!

There are a limited number of party tickets sold for each night of the event making the party feel more like a vip event for all those guests in attendance! Because of the limited number of tickets guests who attend will enjoy the park with significantly lower crowds than compared to a normal day in the Magic Kingdom. This means you can do and see more during your time in the park! Lower crowds means lower wait times on some of the most popular attractions! This fact alone makes these extra ticketed events such an incredible value for the experience you get to have!

I attended my very first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party last year and I caught the Halloween Party bug! I had such a wonderful experience! I love all the spooky fun extras that you find throughout the Magic Kingdom! It is such a festive and fun environment to be apart of!

This year I’m not just attending one Halloween Party! I’m attending two! The first during this month of August with a group of friends and the second in October with some of my Kingdom Magic Vacations co-workers! Both times we are planning to do group costumes! That is another very fun aspect of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, many guests dress up! Last year I loved seeing other guests costumes and how creative everyone gets! This year I’m excited to get to dress up myself! When I go with my friends this month we are all going as Star Wars characters! I am going to be Rey! Then in October with my Kingdom Magic Fam we are all going to be character from Disney Pixar’s Inside Out! I am going to be Riley!

Walt Disney World Date Night Ideas – Part 2

In Part 1 of my Disney date night ideas I talked about things to do at Disney Springs and on the Magic Kingdom Resort monorail loop.  Today I am going to discuss the EPCOT area and Mini Golf for a little activity and adventure!

EPCOT

The EPCOT Park is a great date night park!  Adults usually love this park because of the World Showcase.  Taking a stroll around the World Showcase and exploring the 11 countries is always a great time.  The food and drinks from each country along with theming and shopping make this a fantastic place to take your special someone.  One of my favorite restaurants is Tepan Edo in the Japan Pavilion.  This is a hibachi style restaurant and the food and show are so much fun!

EPCOT Resorts

After your stroll around World Showcase take the International Gateway over to the EPCOT area resorts.  These resorts are the Boardwalk, Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club.  You will find great restaurants in each hotel along with many different Bars and Lounges to relax.  You will also pass the Ample Hills Creamery, all I can say is yummy!! You have to stop in for a sweet treat to top off your dinner.  If your looking for a little more activity than stop in the Atlantic Dance Hall for some great music and to dance the night away.

Monorail Date

Also know that you can get to EPCOT from the Magic Kingdom on the monorail.  Just take the monorail from Magic Kingdom to the Ticket and Transportation Center and transfer there to the EPCOT monorail.  This gives you the option of starting your date early and playing in the Magic Kingdom for the day and then having a wonderful dinner over in the EPCOT area.  What better way to spend the day together than to park hop!

Mini Golf

Another activity that many couples enjoy is mini golf and Disney has some of the best courses I have played on.  The theming is great at each.  There is the Winter/Summer course, which is located near the Blizzard Beach Water Park.  The winter course is themed to Christmas and Summer is very beachy.  Then across from the Swan and Dolphin hotel you will find the Fantasia Gardens with two courses both based on the movie Fantasia.  The one course is your traditional mini golf course and the other is based more on a professional golf course but in miniature scale.  This course emphasizes on skill versus chance.  You can actually walk here from the EPCOT resorts.  Just head toward the Swan and Dolphin and walk through their grounds and across the street you will find the mini golf courses.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about these date night ideas and it has gotten you excited to plan your next night out!  Check out our YouTube Channel to see the video on Part 2 of Disney date night ideas.

Disney Springs

Disney Springs is a shopping, dining and entertainment mecca.  You will have a fantastic time if you pick Disney Springs for your date night.  There are just so many choices of things to do.  The great thing about this area is you can find something to fit your likes and your budget.  First, let’s look at some things you can do for an Economic date night.  My picks for great places to eat that won’t break the budget would be Wolfgang Puck Express, Deluxe Burger, Blaze Pizza or even the Food Trucks.  All of these choices have really good food at the great price.

For a special occasion date or when you just want to splurge a bit there any many choices to pick from.  Boathouse and Paddlefish have great seafood choices, Morimoto Asia is outstanding with cuisine from the great Iron Chef himself.  Try Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ for delicious Southern comfort foods.  Head to STK for a fantastic steak.  These are just some of my favorites, the list goes on and on. Your sure to find something you will love.

If you would like to hang out after dinner for a nice drink let me suggest two that I enjoy.  Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is inspired by the Indiana Jones movie and the theming and drinks are so good or stop by Wine Bar George for the most incredible wine list you will ever see.  I personally like to go to the 2nd floor and head out to the patio where you can relax with your drink and take in the sights of Disney Springs.

If you want a unique experience head to The Edison after 10:00 when it becomes adults only for a burlesque style show.  Or you can catch a movie at the AMC theater.  If you like to bowl you will want to check out Splitsville for some fun and try their sushi, it is excellent!  Then there is the obvious thing to do and that is to stroll from store to store checking out so many different shops!

Monorail Loop

Okay, so what is the Monorail Loop?  This would be the stops the monorail makes besides the obvious stop at the Magic Kingdom.  The monorail stops at three Disney hotels, which are The Contemporary, The Polynesian and The Grand Floridian.  Looking for a great meal with a breathtaking view than you will want to head to the California Grill at The Contemporary.  This restaurant is at the top of the hotel with stunning views of Bay Lake and the Magic Kingdom and you won’t want to miss the fireworks from this restaurant.  The fireworks view from the outside terraces are incredible and the music is pumped in for your enjoyment.  Head over to the Polynesian hotel for a tropical feel.  There are great restaurants and bars and the beach is a wonderful place to put your feet in the sand and watch the fireworks together, very romantic!  Head to Grand Floridian and enjoy the beautiful Victorian lobby while listening to the piano player or band.  For a very special occasion you might want to try Victoria & Albert’s which is a AAA Five Diamond Award winning restaurant.  For something more economic you can’t beat the Grand Floridan Café.
