Disney Magic To Debut Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique This Fall

Aspiring young princesses and knights are in for a treat when Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique debuts on the Disney Magic this fall! This whimsical salon for children ages three to 12 is coming to Deck 10 in the forward part of the ship.

Our fairy godmothers-in-training are storing up fairy dust for the very special makeovers they’ll be granting at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Kids can choose from several looks, including a Disney Princess, royal knight and more. On pirate party night, this boutique becomes The Pirates League, and pirates of all ages can be transformed here from landlubber to buccaneer.

Tweens are also in store for new adventures when Edge moves to Deck 9 midship. This super cool space will feature a dance floor and high-tech gaming stations. What won’t change is the fact that this area is reserved just for 11- to 14-year-olds, giving tweens the chance for a little independence from their parents (under the supervision of our fun youth counselors, of course!)

Cruisers on our transatlantic voyage from Spain to Miami, departing September 19, will be the first to enjoy these enhancements. The Disney Magic will then sail 4- and 5-night voyages from Miami to the Bahamas and Caribbean throughout the fall.

Is your little one most excited about becoming a princess in a paradise or a pirate IN the Caribbean when you visit Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on the Disney Magic?

New “Tangled: The Musical” Coming to Disney Cruise Line

In November 2015, the endearing characters and captivating music of the animated film “Tangled” will enchant audiences once again, this time as an original stage show spectacular at sea aboard the Disney Magic – the first time the beloved Disney tale has been adapted for the stage.

“Tangled: The Musical” will immerse guests in Rapunzel’s fairytale world through lavish production numbers and spellbinding music. Three new songs created exclusively for this show by Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and Grammy Award-winning lyricist Glenn Slater will bring the story to life onstage.

Featuring elaborate costumes, groundbreaking puppetry and stunning set designs, the show will stay true to the storyline from the hit film – with a few special twists to create a live staged production.

“Tangled: The Musical” complements the line-up of Disney Cruise Line-exclusive live entertainment performed every voyage aboard the Disney Magic, joining “Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story” and “Disney Dreams… An Enchanted Classic,” which will feature a new segment from the blockbuster animated hit “Frozen” beginning in summer 2015.

The new show will premiere during the Nov. 11, 2015 four-night Bahamian sailing aboard the Disney Magic, which will sail four-night Bahamas and five-night Western Caribbean cruises from Miami beginning Sept. 30, 2015 through the new year.

Day of ‘Frozen’ Fun Coming to Disney Cruise Line This Summer

Who’s excited to hang out with your favorite royal sisters this summer?! Disney Cruise Line recently announced brand-new “Frozen”-inspired experiences, and now there is more information about the ones exclusively for Disney Magic and Disney Wonder cruisers.

Starting on Disney Cruise Line’s summertime voyages in Alaska and Northern Europe, on one special day a cool arctic breeze will come through overnight and transform the ship into a winter wonderland. You’ll awake to discover a magical freeze has overtaken the atrium lobby with sparkling icicles adorning the grand staircase resembling the majestic mountain-top ice palace of Queen Elsa.

Feeling as if you’ve been transported to the Kingdom of Arendelle, you’ll be ready to begin the day’s adventures. In addition to getting warm hugs from Olaf, kids won’t want to miss “Anna’s Chase for the Chocolate,” a scavenger hunt for those who share Anna’s sense of adventure with a special surprise for finishing the game. They can also join the “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” activity where they’ll take on Elsa’s magical powers to make snow and ice!

For families, there’s “The Maypole Swirl and Twirl” where you’ll learn a traditional Scandinavian dance spinning and braiding giant ribbons, along with a specially themed dining experience that night including a menu inspired by traditional Nordic fare and special dishes inspired by the film. Then, the day of frozen fun culminates with an extravagant evening celebration, “Freezing the Night Away with Anna, Elsa and Friends.” By now, the freeze has spread to the upper decks of the ship, with giant snowflakes, icicles and snow-covered rocks.

During this high-energy deck party, you’ll sing and dance with the famous royal sisters of Arendelle and their fun-loving Nordic companions. After some fun line dancing led by Anna and Kristoff, their beloved companions, Sven, the trolls and Olaf, make virtual appearances. Sven engages the crowd in reindeer games like “Sven Says” and the “Troll Stroll,” and Olaf leads a sing along to his signature song, “In Summer.”

Land of “Frozen” Coming to Disney Cruise Line in Summer 2015

Later in the party, Elsa arrives with a snowy gust of wind, calling on guests to sing “Let it Go” with her as she conjures up a wintry spectacle to cool things down for Olaf. In true Disney fashion, Elsa unleashes her magic, sending a chill through everyone as the powerful Academy Award-winning song echoes from the ship.

I’m sure you agree this day is going to be pretty “cool.” Pun intended! If you missed Port Adventure Manager Arnaldo Zanonato’s post about Anna and Elsa’s adventure ashore with us in Norway, be sure to check it out to learn about yet another extra special experience you can get with us this summer.

When you think about what sets Disney apart, what is it that comes to mind? My guess is that most of you will agree it’s attention to detail. No matter where you vacation with Disney, it’s easy to tell right away the thought that’s put behind even the smallest of things. It’s what Disney Cruise Line calls “magic in the details.”

What’s your favorite “best thing” about a Disney cruise?

Re-imagined Disney Magic Debuts New ‘Drawn to Magic’ Dinner Show

One of the incredible aspects about the re-imagined Disney Magic is that the transformation wasn’t just an aesthetic makeover. Walt Disney Imagineers worked hard to bring guests a fresh look all around the ship, but they didn’t stop there. WDI is always looking to entertain in new and exciting ways, and that is exactly what they accomplished with the enhancements to the Disney Magic.

Take Animator’s Palate as an example. Featured on all four ships, it’s Disney Cruise Line’s signature family dining room and no doubt a guest favorite. Knowing how much guests love the look of the restaurant on the Disney Magic, Imagineers kept the same classic theme but enhanced it with all-new, animation-adorned walls, larger high-definition flat-screens and updated furnishings like custom-built Mickey Mouse chairs.

But that’s not even the best part. On every Disney Magic cruise, guests will get to enjoy a completely re-imagined “Drawn to Magic” dinner animation show, which incorporates even more scenes from favorite Disney films and a dramatic transformation from black and white to color.

Throughout the meal, diners will see black and white character portraits sketched in real-time on the over sized digital canvases lining the dining room walls, making a fun game for your family as you guess which favorite heroes and villains are coming to life. As appetizers arrive, pencil tests of Disney characters are revealed, bringing to life iconic moments — from Disney favorites like “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Princess and the Frog” and more — one canvas at a time. Guests get their first taste of color during dinner when the character pencil tests around the room are treated to ink and paint.

As dinner winds down and desserts are selected, the grand finale begins, immersing guests in an animated show about a hero’s journey with scenes of Disney and Pixar films on screen, accompanied by dramatic lighting shifts throughout the restaurant. Finally, with the dining room in full color, the celebration comes to life with a fun appearance by Sorcerer Mickey and a parade of the “transformed” wait staff (they also get a full dose of color!)

Little Cruisers Get Even More Fun On The Re-imagined Disney Magic

Last week, I had the privilege of being one of the first to sail on Disney Cruise Line‘s re-imagined Disney Magic.  It is an incredible ship from top to bottom, but one of the most incredible areas was the new kids environments onboard the Disney Magic.

The first area we visited was the new Oceaneer Lab.

Adorned with giant, nautical ropes belayed around columns, ancient navigation maps on the walls and compasses emblazoned throughout the décor, Oceaneer Lab takes pint-sized pirates on a journey of discovery, exploration and adventure.

This seafaring fun spot has video walls and digital stations for games, an animator’s studio for budding artists and a pirate workshop for experiments and art projects. Plus, Navigator Simulators let young buccaneers take the wheel and captain a ship through the mysterious waters of the Caribbean.

Craft Area

Just down the hall for the youngest cruisers — ages three months to three years — is the new It’s a Small World Nursery. Inspired by the style of Disney Legend Mary Blair, this whimsical world has cheerful artwork and murals resembling the namesake Disney Parks attraction.

The space is filled with hands-on features, including horns to honk, wheels to spin and buttons to press, along with colorful, kid-sized tables and chairs for toddlers to enjoy crafts, books and games with caring, trained counselors.

At the back of the nursery, a serene motif and a calm, quiet atmosphere is reserved for naptime. Parents wishing to check on their children without disturbing them can glimpse into the nursery’s main play area through a one-way window.
